EastEnders star's wife rushed to hospital after she's left 'unable to speak'
EastEnders star Ricky Champ has revealed that his wife was rushed to A&E after she was left unable to speak. Ricky's wife Sammy suffered complications related to an ongoing health issue and could not see out of her swollen eyes.
The mum-of-two said that she had to get medical help as the family were about to head off on a dream trip to Disney, writes The Mirror.
She said: 'What is the absolute one thing you don't need to happen the day before vou fly to Disney when you need to go shopping/ pack/clean/do washing. Oh that's right, wake up with your lips so swollen you can't speak and eyes swollen shut so vou're in A&E at 7am.
'One of the side effects of my gallstones and liver is severe hives all over my body every single morning that go away by bedtime then I wake up and it starts all over again.
'Something due to the toxins etc (still not considered urgent though, still been told need to wait a year + for an op).'
Sammy, who is an influencer, then shared a series of pictures of her very swollen face before she returned to her normal self.
Since marrying Sammy in August 2016, actor Ricky, who portrayed Stuart Highway in the soap. has built a life with their two children, daughter Beatrix and son River, while also carving out a varied career beyond EastEnders.
Champ left behind his role as fan fave Stuart in the long-running BBC soap in 2022 after what he called a transformative experience.
'In EastEnders I went from villain to hero to dad,' he told Digital Spy at the time. 'It was amazing, doing that for five years with a character's arc. It felt weird leaving him,' he admitted.
Though he's moved on from the soap, Champ isn't writing off a potential comeback. 'He didn't die. He rode off into the sunset. I think he's somewhere in the North Circular living with Rainie,' he said of his on-screen alter ego.
Since his departure, Champ has kept busy. A year later, he joined the West End cast of 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Apollo Theatre.
He's also made his way into streaming, landing a role in the Netflix period drama The Decameron, acting alongside Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson.
The show is about the plague which spreads through Italy, and a group of nobles and servants retreat to a villa, where their lavish getaway quickly spirals into chaos.
In addition, Champ plays Sergeant Daz Black in ITV's police training comedy Piglets, showing his versatility in both drama and comedy roles.

Oasis fan dies at Wembley stadium show after plunging from top tier
Other shows at the 90,000 capacity stadium are going ahead as planned. An Oasis fan tragically plunged to his death at the band's sold-out concert in Wembley Stadium last night as witnesses described the "horrific" scene, The Mirror reports. The man, in his 40s, is believed to have been sat in the upper tier of the 90,000 capacity stadium when he fell. Emergency services rushed to the man but he was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. The Met Police confirmed officers rushed to reports of an injured person at 10.19pm, towards the end of the band's reunion gig. Police added that officers at Wembley found the man with "injuries consistent with a fall". And the force has urged any witnesses and concertgoers with information about the tragedy to reach out to The Met. A horrified concertgoer took to Facebook to share their account of the tragic moment. They wrote: "Did anyone else see the guy drop from the upper tier last night." Another Oasis fan responded, saying they had a "panic attack" after they witnessed the tragic moment. They said: "I was block 502 row 32. I have never felt so sick in my life. I got to my seat and had a full blown panic attack which has never happened before. "I was shaking and crying. I was so scared to get down and have to go back up as it was such a high demand show. But with the state I was in, Wembley moved me to block 501 row 8. Still high up but no where near as steep. I was so grateful." Another concertgoer, in a lower tier, described seeing emergency crews rush to the spot where the fan hit concrete after the plunge. She wrote: "I was directly underneath in section 211. "At first glance I thought it was a coat falling from the above tier but then I looked and saw the bloke on the concrete. It was horrific to see." A Wembley Stadium spokesperson said: "Last night, Wembley Stadium medics, the London Ambulance Service and the police attended to a concert goer who was found with injuries consistent with a fall. Despite their efforts, the fan very sadly died. "Our thoughts go out to his family, who have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers. The Police have asked anyone who witnessed the incident to contact them. "Tonight's Oasis concert will go ahead as planned." The Mirror reports it has contacted both the Metropolitan police and reps for Oasis for comment.

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden has reflected on her life-changing breast cancer diagnosis as she admits that she's now happier, stronger, and healthier than ever Amy Dowden has shared a poignant post two years after her cancer diagnosis as she admits that she now happier and healthier than ever after beating the disease. Taking to her Instagram stories to reflect on her life-altering cancer journey, the Strictly Come Dancing professional shared a video from the midst of her treatment two years. The heart-wrenching video saw the 34-year-old star wrote: "Two years ago today, I've been reminded." "I'm honestly feeling happier, stronger, and healthier than ever. So grateful and just want to remind those who may need it that this too shall pass." It comes after Amy admitted that she was 'deluded' to think she was ready for a Strictly comeback. Amy continued in her latest post: "I'm forever grateful and don't ever take for granted how I'm feeling. This a reminder to live life to the fullest and to remember to check yourself. If you aren't who is going to? Early detection can save lives." In stark contrast to the video clip from her BBC documentary, Amy posted a recent photo of herself looking fit, healthy, and happy during dance rehearsals. Alongside the photo, she wrote: "To now, living my best life in rehearsals. "Be patient, be kind to yourself, and remember to celebrate all the wins along the way. "It's been quite the journey and process to get here and certainly not easy at times but I'm so glad I pushed through and my love for dance is MORE than ever. I didn't even know that was possible but it is. Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2023 after she discovered a lump in her breast in April, just before her honeymoon. She sought medical advice upon her return, leading to the diagnosis. The much-loved BBC star then received the "no evidence of disease" news from her doctors in February 2024, following a health check after her cancer treatment. In another Instagram post reflecting on her diagnosis, Amy sent an inspirational message to her followers while she was enjoying some time away on holidays with her twin sister Becky. The Strictly Come Dancing star wrote: "Some much-needed twin time. "We had the perfect little escape – full of sunshine, sangria, beach days, rooftop swims, incredible food, and most importantly, proper quality time together," she wrote. Amy went on: "After my cancer diagnosis, I promised my family (and myself) that I'd take more downtime. I used to live life at 100mph, saying yes to everything and everyone. But cancer shifts your perspective. "This year I've been incredibly lucky with new job opportunities which have been full on but so rewarding and I can't wait to share all to you very soon. So having time to slow down isn't just okay – it's essential. "These past few days have been the perfect reset and I'm heading into the new season feeling recharged, happy, stronger, and HEALTHIER than ever." Amy went on to share some good news about her twin sister as she told her followers: "Also bursting with pride for my sister @becky_dowden – she was accepted into her master's program in midwifery while we were away (yes, while still working full-time in the NHS!). "I'm so proud of her and loved treating her to a well-deserved break." She concluded her lengthy caption by sharing her excitement for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. Amy gushed: "Feeling grateful, grounded, and SO excited for @bbcstrictly rehearsals to start tomorrow. Year 9 – let's go."
