India's First Mid-Haul Re-Powered Electric Truck Launches
This move marks yet another industry-first for APML—after pioneering double-decker 'FlexiDEC" containers for the chemical and allied industries, the company is now leading the charge in long-haul electric trucking, setting a benchmark for green logistics transformation.
The newly launched truck will initially operate on two key intercity routes: Chennai to Pune (1,321 km) and Pune to Halol (713 km). To ensure efficiency and minimal downtime, fast DC charging stations have been installed at strategic partner depots along these corridors.
The event marked the first time a heavy-duty truck in India has been retrofitted with a fully electric powertrain and deployed on mid-range operational routes. These distances are traditionally considered too long for standard EVs and too short to justify new electric fleet investments.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Ramesh Agarwal of APML emphasized the environmental imperative of such innovations. 'At APML, we believe protecting the environment is a responsibility, not an option or obligation. This electric truck initiative is not just a business decision—it reflects our commitment to a greener, cleaner India," he said.
The project validates EV retrofitting as a cost-effective, scalable, and low-risk path to decarbonize India's freight sector. The initiative sets an operational benchmark, complete with vehicle specs, charging protocols, and performance metrics for logistics players and government bodies nationwide. This strategic collaboration between three industry leaders not only sets a new benchmark in sustainable transportation but also strengthens India's position in the global clean mobility landscape.

A video recirculating online shows the driver visibly frustrated as the AI continues to misinterpret his appearance. The message also repeatedly flashed on the car's dashboard, making it difficult for him to drive without constant interruptions. According to Must Share News, the man, Li, who was driving a Xiaomi SU7 Max, believes the issue happened because the system couldn't properly see his eyes in the sunlight while driving in Zhijiang province, China. In the video, his sister was sitting beside him and could be heard laughing as the alerts kept coming. During the trip, the warning message popped up nearly 20 times. Li also shared that his sister doesn't face this issue when she drives the same car. But whenever he takes the wheel, the system keeps thinking he's sleepy. He said, 'When I forced my eyes wide open, the alarm stopped. But when I let my eyes return to their normal state, it started again. Because my eyes are small, it thinks I'm falling asleep." Reacting to the post, a user wrote, 'We got AI racism before GTA 6." Another shared, 'Bro, they need an update for Chinese Eye." 'Imagine being bullied by your car…next level savagery," a comment read. An individual asked, 'Xiaomi is an Asian Company, you're telling me they can't fix this problem?" Another mentioned, 'My brother and I were teenagers flying on a plane, and he was leaning back in his seat watching a movie on the screen. The flight attendant walked by and turned the screen off, and placed a blanket over him because she thought he had fallen asleep. He was like 'Welp, guess I'm going to sleep. '" One more added, 'This is like getting roasted at a family reunion." Xiaomi Auto's customer service explained that all their cars come with this safety system. It is meant to keep the driver safe by checking if they look tired while driving. Although drivers can choose to turn off the feature, the company does not suggest doing so, as it's there to help avoid accidents. Silver futures ease on weak demand
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 30 (PTI) Silver prices on Wednesday declined marginally by Rs 28 to Rs 1,13,725 per kilogram as participants reduced their bets. On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver contracts for September delivery decreased Rs 28, or 0.02 per cent, to Rs 1,13,725 per kilogram in a business turnover of 15,622 lots. Analysts said a sell-off by participants at existing levels in the market mainly weighed on silver prices. Globally, silver was trading 0.19 per cent lower at USD 38.13 per ounce in New York.
