It's been a bit of a roller coaster for the New Orleans Saints uniforms beat this offseason. It was previously reported that the Saints would be introducing alternate uniforms and matching new helmets on July 22 -- only for that date to be moved up to July 9 with the reveal of white-and-gold lids to go with the team's popular "Color Rush" jerseys. For a time, it looked like the Saints wouldn't be getting new uniforms after all.
But that might not be the case. On Tuesday, July 15, the Saints shared a promo video teasing something else. Cameron Jordan, who has long lobbied for the team to bring back the gold jerseys they last wore in 2002, is seen strutting into the locker room carrying a Saints-branded gold duffel bag, lit from the inside with a flashing amber light. A strobing effect obscures a shadowy figure wearing a helmet and uniform. Take these hints together and it sure looks like the team is rolling out new jerseys (and maybe another helmet) on July 22. See for yourself:
A soft rebrand with fresh white helmets to go with the "Color Rush" uniforms and an all-new gold set would be a welcome change. The Saints are going in a new direction without any of Sean Payton's influence on the team; it's taken some time but they're finally getting out from under his shadow. Ushering in a new era with new jerseys isn't a bad idea. And it's not like the team is getting rid of their usual home and away uniforms. This just helps distance themselves from the last four years of futile football.
And bringing back the gold uniforms Jordan has always wanted could signal the end of the line for him, too. This is his last year under contract with the team and he figures to play more of a pass-rush specialist role with young guys like Chase Young and Carl Granderson taking over as starters, giving Jordan opportunities to sack a couple of quarterbacks and help his Hall of Fame resume. He leads all active players with 121.5 sacks (Von Miller is technically ahead of him with 129.5, but has not signed with a team for 2025) and ranks 22nd all-time. Giving Jordan what he's asked for could be a nice sendoff. We'll find out what the Saints have been cooking up on July 22.

"You know Michael is not going to beat you with it very often" - Clyde Drexler wasn't worried despite MJ torching his Blazers with six threes in Game 1 of the 1992 Finals

"You know Michael is not going to beat you with it very often" - Clyde Drexler wasn't worried despite MJ torching his Blazers with six threes in Game 1 of the 1992 Finals originally appeared on Basketball Network. Chicago Bulls icon Michael Jordan put up one of the most unforgettable NBA Finals performances of all time when he torched Clyde Drexler's Portland Trail Blazers with six 3-pointers in the first half of Game 1 of the 1992 Finals. He punctuated the great moment by looking at the announcer's table and shrugging in disbelief as he ran back to play defense. Like a true master, MJ reined his emotions in and thought about what the 3-point barrage meant from a tactical perspective. He figured his hot hand opened up more things for him and his teammates, which put immense pressure on the Blazers' defense. "I like to get those outside shots to set up the guessing part of my offense," Jordan said, per the Chicago Tribune. "If I start hitting my outside shot, that opens up a lot of things for me and it makes it even tougher for the defense because they have to guess what Michael Jordan is going to do now." "'Is he going to shoot the ball? Is he going to drive? Is he going to penerate? Is he going to dunk on me?' It leaves them guessing and in that respect, I feel I have the advantage," he pointed out. Blazers were not concerned Jordan finished with 39 points, which was enough to lead the Bulls to a 122-89 victory. When the smoke had subsided, the Blazers settled down and started preparing their minds and bodies for Game 2. Point guard Terry Porter boldly proclaimed that they had to throw Game 1 out of the window. Jordan's performance was an anomaly and likely won't happen again, a belief echoed by Drexler and Danny Ainge. "You don't want to give him that shot," Drexler said, "But at the same time, you know Michael is not going to beat you with it very often." "I don't think anyone expects Michael Jordan to shoot 10 three-pointers," Ainge agreed. "And even if he makes a couple, that's better than the alternative-driving to the basket, creating shots for his teammates, dunking, getting to the free-throw line," Danny pointed out. "We'd like to get a little more pressure on him out there, but it would be silly for us to run at him and allow him to do what we set out not to let him do and that's get to the basket."Team sport Meanwhile, Blazers head coach Rick Adelman offered a similar perspective. While the crowd was going crazy every time Jordan knocked down a 3-pointer, Adelman and his staff kept cool, calm and collected. MJ jacking up shots almost every possession meant the other Bulls were not building an offensive rhythm. "I see us giving up 11 offensive rebounds and making 12 turnovers and that's totally why we were down 15 points at the half," said Adelman. "We could still be in the game, surviving Jordan's 35 points, because no one else was scoring. We outscored him by 16 ourselves." True enough, Mike was 0-of-4 from downtown in Game 2. While he had 39 points again, the Blazers' balanced effort powered them to a 115-104 victory. It may not have worked out for them in the end as Chicago won the championship in six games, but Portland proved they were worthy story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Jul 24, 2025, where it first appeared.

Detroit Lions offensive line is a work in progress a year after being among NFL's best

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions had one of the NFL's best offensive lines last season. This year is more of a work in progress. Center Frank Ragnow's retirement and the loss of right guard Kevin Zeitler in free agency have opened up competition for at least two new starters. Graham Glasgow, who started at left guard last season and has experience at center, along with rookie Tate Ratledge are getting reps at center through four days of training camp. And then there's the banged-up veteran Taylor Decker at left tackle. 'It's been great. Tate, I thought, was doing a good job. Graham was in there today and I've been comfortable with Graham for quite some time,'' Lions quarterback Jared Goff said on Thursday. 'Whoever it ends up being I'll be good with.'' After Ratledge saw the bulk of center reps the first three days of camp, Glasgow took the center snaps Thursday. Ratledge played only guard at Georgia except for a few practice snaps at center. So he's adjusting to the NFL game and to playing a new position. 'I think just the speed of everything happening. At guard you have a little bit of a delay being off the ball and then, of course, you get up here and you're going against quicker guys,'' Ratledge said. He has no preference for guard or center. 'I enjoy football, it doesn't matter where I am on the field,'' said Ratledge, a second-round pick who sports a John Wayne tattoo on his left bicep. Coach Dan Campbell said earlier in the week that he will keep his eye on the offensive line. '(Ratledge is) getting it all at once. It's everything, it is. It's the mental and it's the technique of it. So, yeah, look we're putting a lot on him,'' Campbell said. 'He's drinking out of a fire hose right now. But there are things that we saw with him in college at Georgia that we felt like, 'You know what? We think this guy can play center.'' Decker remains sidelined while recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, but is expected to join the team after the Hall of Fame game on July 31. He's been on the sidelines at camp daily. 'The standard is the standard. We're expected to be one of the top offensive lines in the league,'' Decker said. 'You lose big pieces, but we've put those expectations on ourselves and put ourselves in a position where we're expected to perform a certain way and it doesn't matter.'' Pro Bowl right tackle Penei Sewell is healthy and practicing daily. Christian Mahogany has been a sort of utility lineman for the Lions the past couple of years. He played in seven games in 2024 and started two, including a playoff game. Kayode Awosika, who started 11 games at guard in 2024, will also contend for a starting guard spot. NOTES: Lions LB Alex Anzalone, who has not participated in camp, was on the sidelines again Thursday in street clothes. He told reporters earlier in the week that he is disappointed the Lions have not signed him to a contract extension. INJURIES: LB Derrick Barnes (hand) and CB Terrion Arnold (leg) left practice early to be evaluated further for their injuries. … CB Ennis Rakestraw (chest) was working on the sidelines but has not practiced since he was injured on Sunday. He's expected to return within days.

Demario Davis talks relationship with Saints fans, expedition to Paris

The New Orleans Saints have had a few international games over the years, with 2008, 2017, and 2022 matchups in London. The NFL has had a clear vision to push further into the international market in recent years, tying teams to respective countries to try and build strong followings for those teams in other nations, and so far, it has worked quite well. Many teams got a few markets, but were paired up with others trying to vie for the same nation. The Saints were awarded just one when it came to the Global Markets Program in 2025, but that one was France, which is an absolutely enormous country to explore on their own. It makes total sense given the deep-seated French culture throughout Louisiana, and gives them an opportunity to expand their fandom further into Europe. Linebacker Demario Davis was the ambassador of this program for the Saints, travelling to Paris to bridge the gap across the Atlantic Ocean. Locked on Saints host Ross Jacksonhighlighted Davis' comments from his media appearance, where the legendary linebacker said he felt he was representing the team when he made the trip over to Paris, and is now doing the inverse when coming back to Louisiana. He is also pushing for a game in France for the Saints, which would be a huge chance to bolster their international outreach. In the same press conference, Davis expressed gratitude for the support he's received from the Saints fanbase and his recent experience overseas. "The energy was," Davis began, "Our fans are always great. I think, it's no secret, New Orleans has the best fans in the world, and I think it's just because they genuinely care about the state of the team, they care, they watch it, they care about the position battles, they care about the coaching, they care about the personnel that's being brought in. "Like its not just fans that show up on Sunday, it's fans who are watching the transactions, they're watching the practices, they're watching progressions, and I think because we have a fanbase that's tapped in like that, it's always gonna be love, and it's no different today." Now he returns to Louisiana for training camp, but will continue to push for more international outreach, as the Saints look to land a game abroad in 2026. With three seasons between then and their last game across the pond, there is plenty of opportunity for them to pick one up as the NFL chooses who they believe should make an impact in Europe each season.
