Texas A&M junior shortstop selected 103rd overall by the New York Yankees in the MLB Draft
LaViolette and Lamkin were expected to go in the first three rounds, and while Kaeden Kent's legendary status with the Aggies was cemented after the 2025 season, his draft status was up and down, and he was not ranked inside MLB Pipeline's Top 250 prospect rankings. Yes, Kent is the son of Jeff Kent, who should be in the Hall of Fame by now, but like his son, defense was an issue throughout his career.

However, Kent improved significantly this season as a defender, while his big-game offense has produced several memorable moments over the last two seasons. Kent shot on the scene with scouts during the 2024 Super Regional round vs. Oregon, breaking the game wide open and sending the Aggies to the College World Series.
Kent's career numbers in College Station include 135 appearances and 101 starts, a .290/.389/.494 slash line, 18 home runs, 100 RBIs, 23 doubles, 61 walks, a .948 fielding percentage, and just 72 strikeouts. Kent's decision to compete in the MLB Combine in Phoenix was likely a sign that led to Earley adding shortstops Chris Hacopian and Maddox Latta from the transfer portal.
According to GigEm247's Carter Karels, Ken's assigned slot value as the 103rd overall pick is $744,400, which is likely too enticing to pass up.

After four solid seasons in Miami, Holland inked a three-year, $45.3 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed back in mid-March. He didn't appear in ESPN's top 10 list of the best safeties, but he did earn an honorable mention. The list was compiled by Jeremy Fowler, who surveyed NFL executives, coaches and scouts. One of those executives cited a recent "regression" for why he might've missed the list. "I still love the skill set, but he drastically regressed last year, which was shocking to see from a young player in a contract year." -- NFL personnel director Advertisement But Holland's regression was slight last season. He appeared in 15 games and posted 62 tackles with 42 solo and two for loss. He added a sack and two QB hits. He also registered a forced fumble. The strength of his game was and still is "versatility." "He has that special buzzword -- versatility -- and can play deep safety and man-to-man out of the slot," ESPN's Cameron Wolfe wrote when Holland was drafted in 2021. "In fact, Holland played 64% of his coverage snaps in the slot at Oregon. Holland is a playmaker with nine interceptions over two seasons, which should help the Dolphins be better covering sideline-to-sideline and tackling speedy receivers." Cal Raleigh (38 HR): The Mariners' switch-hitting catcher has already eclipsed his career-high, and his 38 dingers are one shy of Barry Bonds' record for the most ever at the break, when he hit 39 in 2001 en route to a record 73 that season. Aaron Judge (35 HR): The Yankees' captain reached 350 career home runs on Saturday faster than any other player in MLB history (1,088 career games). The next-fastest to 350: Mark McGwire (1,280), Juan González (1,298) and Alex Rodriguez (1,301). Shohei Ohtani (32 HR): Not only does Ohtani have his fifth straight 30-homer season; the Dodgers' two-way star also has a 1.00 ERA in his first five starts since returning from elbow surgery. Eugenio Suárez (31 HR): Arizona's third baseman, who's been on fire with 10 HR in his last 22 games, made history back in April when he became the 19th player in MLB history with a four-homer game. Kyle Schwarber (30 HR): Philly's DH just keeps getting better with age, and this season the 11-year vet has cut his bloated strikeout rate to a six-year low while still crushing pretty much everything he makes contact with. Zoom out: This historic achievement isn't due to some broader power surge, as the league-wide HR rate is actually tied with last season's for the second-lowest in a decade. Data also suggests that fly balls are traveling less far than they did a year ago thanks to MLB's ever-changing balls. Instead, it's a perfect storm of the league's best sluggers all clicking at the same time. Indeed, there's nothing random about the list above, with all five guys among the top 10 home run hitters since 2022 (Raleigh's first full season). The quintet is also an encapsulation of modern "three true outcomes" baseball, as all five are in the top 20 for strikeouts and four of five (all but Suárez) are in the top 10 for walks. Looking ahead: FanGraphs projects that Judge (55 HR), Raleigh (53), Ohtani (49) and Schwarber (47) will at least flirt with 50 homers.
