Fahmi engages over 2,300 Madani community members in Melaka gathering
The Media and Publicity Committee for National Day and Malaysia Day 2025 said the programme, organised by the Information Department (JaPen), involved 1,407 Madani Community members from all over Peninsular Malaysia as well as six specially invited groups from the Federal Territory of Labuan.
"The gathering aims to strengthen understanding among Madani Community members regarding the government's policies, initiatives, direction, and strategies.
"Participants were also briefed on current issues, smart and safe Internet usage, as well as effective strategic communication," the statement said.
Among the invited panellists were police Anti-Scam Ambassador Rahmat Fitri Abdullah and TV personality Ally Iskandar Mohd Mardzi.
Also present were Senior Division Secretary (Management) of the Communications Ministry Mazlan Abd Mutalib, JaPen director-general Julina Johan, and senior federal and state government officials.
Participants will also have the opportunity to attend the Launch of the National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang 2025 celebration, which will be held tomorrow at Dataran Tanjung Emas, Muar, Johor.

'At this point, Malaysia's stance on Palestine has not changed. Our stance is clear. Palestine has the right to exist as a state. Britain and France have also announced they would recognise Palestine in September at the UN General Assembly. Fahmi said that Wisma Putra has been given time to review the declaration in full, and the Cabinet has also requested Mohamad to brief the Dewan Rakyat early next week to provide further clarity on the matter. 'That will likely take place between Monday and Wednesday. I believe the minister will provide a more detailed explanation then, but the government's stance remains unchanged,' he said. The UN joint declaration, urging Hamas to disarm and relinquish its governance over Gaza, was signed by 17 countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada. The joint declaration, issued after a UN high-level conference, condemned the Hamas attack on Israel in October 2023, and called for the immediate release of all remaining hostages. It also urged Hamas to hand over its weapons to the Palestinian authority as part of a two-state solution framework.

Malaysia reaffirms unwavering support for Palestine amid UN declaration
PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's position on Palestine remains firm, with the government continuing to support Palestine's right to independence and sovereignty, said MADANI Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil. Speaking after a Cabinet meeting, the Communications Minister confirmed that Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan had briefed the Cabinet on the Palestinian issue following a recent United Nations (UN) high-level conference. The meeting, coordinated by Saudi Arabia and France, saw 17 countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the UK, France, and Canada, sign a declaration urging Hamas to disarm and transfer governance of Gaza to the Palestinian Authority. Cambodia-Thailand border talks move to Kuala Lumpur next week
PUTRAJAYA: The General Border Committee (GBC) meeting aimed at resolving border conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand has been relocated to Kuala Lumpur and will take place next Tuesday (Aug 5). Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil confirmed the change, stating that Thailand requested the shift from Phnom Penh to Malaysia's capital. The decision was discussed during today's Cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Fahmi, who also serves as the MADANI Government spokesman, noted that the Ministry of Defence will oversee the proceedings. Originally scheduled for Aug 4 in Phnom Penh, the GBC meeting will now be preceded by a pre-GBC session in Kuala Lumpur on Monday. - Bernama
