Melaka Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications Committee chairman Datuk Fairul Nizam Roslan said the biennial programme also deepens students' understanding of the nation's history while nurturing unity and love for the country. 'This year's edition saw the participation of seven schools, with the winner set to represent the state at the national level. The competition plays a crucial role in shaping a generation that values independence and upholds patriotic values.

Fly Jalur Gemilang to show love for Malaysia
PUTRAJAYA: Reignite patriotic spirit by flying the Jalur Gemilang during National Month and Malaysia Day 2025 celebrations, set to launch in Muar, Johor on July 27. Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan emphasised that displaying the national flag symbolises unity, struggle, and love for the nation. She reminded citizens to follow proper flag protocol, ensuring the Jalur Gemilang is in good condition and placed respectfully. 'Do not display a tattered flag. Position it with honour as it represents our values as Malaysians,' she said during a media briefing. This year's National Day will be celebrated on August 31 at Dataran Putrajaya, while Malaysia Day takes place on September 16 in Penang under the theme 'Malaysia MADANI: Rakyat Disantuni'.

National Month 2025 launch in Muar to draw 10,000 visitors
MUAR: Over 10,000 visitors are anticipated to attend the launch of the 2025 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang Campaign, set to take place from July 25 to 27 at Dataran Tanjung Emas in Muar, Johor. The event, organised by the Information Department (JaPen), will feature a mix of patriotic activities, community engagement, and government services. Free shuttle bus services will be provided from the Bentayan Terminal and around Muar to facilitate visitor movement. 'Four buses will operate with intervals of 10 to 15 minutes,' said JaPen director-general Julina Johan during a media briefing in Putrajaya. The main launch ceremony on July 27 will be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. A highlight of the event is the Jalur Gemilang Convoy, which for the first time includes a maritime contingent with 59 fishing boats, two Marine Department vessels, and enforcement agency boats. Pre-launch activities starting July 25 include patriotic film screenings, community engagement sessions, and the Kita MADANI Carnival, offering government services such as police summons discounts, health screenings, and business advisory for youths. 'We are engaging directly with the people, especially in Bandar Maharani Muar,' Julina added. On July 26, the Bakti Komuniti MADANI Programme will feature gotong-royong, free haircuts, and engine oil changes at Taman Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah. Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching will officiate the event. The same day will also see the 2025 MADANI Community Retreat in Melaka, gathering over 2,300 members, followed by the Suara MADANI singing competition with cash prizes for winners. The celebrations culminate on July 27 with a 6.8km Merdeka Fun Run & Walk, where the first 1,000 participants receive T-shirts and medals. Information Department (JaPen) director-general Julina Johan said free shuttle bus services and parking will be provided to facilitate visitor movement to the event venue. The highlight of the celebration will be the official launch ceremony on Sunday, July 27, to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, accompanied by members of the Cabinet. A key attraction will be the flag-off of the 2025 Jalur Gemilang Convoy, which for the first time will include a maritime contingent comprising 59 fishing boats, two Marine Department vessels, three Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency boats and two Marine Police boats. Julina said the pre-launch programme starting July 25 will feature various community-centred activities such as patriotic film screenings, community engagement sessions and the Kita MADANI Carnival, which will run until July 27. The carnival will bring together various government service booths, including Royal Malaysia Police summons discount counters offering up to 30 per cent off, free health screenings, RAHMAH and Kasih Johor sales and business advisory services for youths. 'The Kita MADANI Carnival is a JaPen initiative held in conjunction with the National Month launch. We are going to the ground to engage directly with the people, especially in Bandar Maharani Muar,' she said. On July 26, July said the Bakti Komuniti MADANI Programme will take place at Taman Tun Sulaiman Ninam Shah from 8 am, featuring activities such as gotong-royong, kenduri rakyat, mosque maintenance and free services including haircuts and engine oil changes.
