His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, shared a post on X, writing, "Today, I chaired a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives. During the meeting, we reviewed the results of the past year, noting that the Foundation's total expenditure reached AED 2.2 billion across various humanitarian, health, education, and community sectors. The number of beneficiaries amounted to 149 million people across 118 countries worldwide. I also met with our humanitarian team during the event, consisting of 975 employees, while our initiatives are supported by over 170,000 volunteers across all our programs. As we mark the anniversary of Humanitarian Work Day, which coincides with the passing of the founder of giving in the UAE, Zayed—may God rest his soul—we reaffirm that our humanitarian efforts continue unabated, and the UAE's hand of generosity remains extended to all peoples."

Sheikh Abdullah emphasized Bahrain's growing reputation as a proactive and respected player in global environmental protection efforts. One of Bahrain's major achievements is the implementation of the National Water Strategy 2021–2030, which supports SDG 6 (clean water and sanitation). The strategy focuses on integrated resource management, wastewater treatment and reuse, and smart solutions to improve water efficiency. It forms part of the government's broader commitment for 2023–2026 and is being executed in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Environment. Climate goals and carbon neutrality Bahrain has pledged to cut carbon emissions by 30 percent by 2035 and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2060. A key step in this direction was the launch of the Bahrain Mangroves initiative in December 2024, which has already doubled the kingdom's mangrove coverage through advanced, sustainable cultivation techniques. In addition to climate mitigation, the Supreme Council for Environment continues to introduce legislation and national initiatives to promote environmental sustainability, support green technologies, and protect Bahrain's biodiversity. These efforts include: Safe disposal of industrial and hazardous waste Rehabilitation of polluted land Reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture and landscaping Protection of endangered marine species like dolphins, sea turtles, and dugongs Conservation of rare wild birds and prevention of illegal hunting The SCE also enforces energy efficiency regulations, green building codes, ozone layer protection protocols, and chemical safety standards, while promoting environmental awareness across both public and private sectors. President Sheikh Mohamed discusses ties with President of Iran
President Sheikh Mohamed on Tuesday held talks with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian over the phone. The two men discussed enhancing bilateral relations while also reviewing a number of regional and international issues with a particular focus on the Middle East, state news agency Wam reported. Sheikh Mohamed also stressed the UAE's keenness to support consolidating peace and stability across the region. The call followed a statement issued by Iran on Monday that said it would not resume nuclear talks with the US if a deal is conditional on halting its uranium enrichment activities. Tehran and Washington held several rounds of negotiations aimed at reviving a nuclear deal, but those efforts were derailed after Israel launched a wave of strikes on Iran in June, triggering 12 days of war. Following the ceasefire, both sides signalled interest in returning to the negotiating table. However, Tehran has remained firm that it will not relinquish its right to the peaceful use of nuclear power.

Autonomous vehicles hit the tarmac at Dubai World Central
A fleet of autonomous vehicles have been deployed to support ramp operations at Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International airport (DWC). The global air and travel services provider, dnata, has rolled out six electric, self-driving baggage tractors at DWC, designed to tow luggage containers between aircraft and terminal buildings — a job traditionally done by human drivers. These autonomous vehicles, developed by TractEasy (EZTow model), can carry up to four baggage containers at once, travelling at speeds of up to 15 km per hour along pre-set routes. The move is expected to improve efficiency, safety and turnaround times on the ground. Staff who previously handled baggage transport are now being reassigned to more complex tasks, while automation helps reduce human error and streamline operations. The project, valued at AED 6 million, currently operates at Level 3 autonomy with minimal oversight. dnata plans to upgrade to Level 4 self-driving capability by early 2026. This initiative is also being used as a testbed to help shape future airport operations, especially as DWC prepares for massive expansion. The airport is set to become the largest in the world, with the capacity to handle up to 260 million passengers a year.
