Six-month-old boy dies in suspected stabbing in Perth home
Emergency services were called to Campion Ave in Balcatta about 3am on Sunday following reports a child had been seriously injured.
Despite the efforts of ambulance crews, the infant could not be saved.
A woman in her 30s was also found at the property and taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital under police guard.
She remains there in a stable condition.
Police established a large crime scene at the home, about 10km from the CBD, which remained cordoned off throughout Sunday as forensic officers combed the area for evidence.
Shocked neighbours told 9News they didn't hear any disturbance during the night and only realised something was wrong when police arrived with flashing lights.
'The investigation is in the preliminary stages and family members of the infant are assisting detectives with their inquiries,' a WA Police spokesperson said on Tuesday.

UK police drop Kneecap investigation over Glastonbury set
British police say they will not be taking action against Irish rap group Kneecap following an investigation into comments made by its members during a performance at Glastonbury music festival last month. Police launched a criminal investigation into gigs by Kneecap as well as punk-rap duo Bob Vylan, which took place one after another at Glastonbury's West Holts stage on day four of the June 25-29 festival. In May, a member of Kneecap was charged with a terrorism offence for allegedly displaying a Hezbollah flag at a previous gig. Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed militant group, is proscribed as a terrorist organisation in Britain. He denies the offence. At Glastonbury, the Belfast-based group led chanting against Prime Minister Keir Starmer while Bob Vylan's set included chants of "death to the IDF," a reference to the Israeli military. Avon and Somerset Police said they decided to drop the investigation after consulting the Crown Prosecution Service. "After that advice, we have made the decision to take no further action on the grounds there is insufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction for any offence," they said in a statement. Police said enquiries were still ongoing over the Bob Vylan set. Kneecap said the investigation was politically motivated. "Every single person who saw our set knew no law was broken, not even the police saw fit to publicly announce they were opening an investigation," the group said on Instagram. Reuters

Australian man found dead in Pattaya, Thailand
An Australian man has been found dead in an apartment in Pattaya, Thailand. Perth man Michael Shane Caola, 54, was discovered on Thursday in a room at the Grand Shivalay apartment complex in the Thai city nicknamed 'sin city'. Police were called after Mr Caola's relatives in Australia alerted staff that he had not answered his phone for two days. Officers found no sign of a struggle and an investigation is now underway. Police Lieutenant Colonel Saijai Kamjulla of the Pattaya City Police Station said: 'The cause of the Australian man's death is still unknown and the results of the autopsy are pending. 'The case is currently under investigation, and further details cannot be disclosed at this time.' Apartment manager Thanchanok Prajit called authorities after finding Mr Caola's door locked. 'His family in Australia called the reception, saying they had been unable to contact him,' she said. 'He was a regular customer often seen exercising, probably to take care of his health.' A Swedish tourist was found dead in the same apartment complex two hours earlier, however police do not suspect the deaths are related. Mika Huotari, 38, was found in the bathtub with a wound to his head two floors below Mr Caola's room. Local media reports a woman was seen on CCTV leaving Mr Huotari's room.
