PlayStation Plus announces August 2025 free games including 'one of the best'
Gamers on a budget will be buzzing to know that Playstation Plus has dropped the monthly games line-up for August 2025 - and if you are a subscriber then they are all free of charge and available for your enjoyment.
PlayStation's version of Xbox Game Pass - a subscription service providing access to a library of games for a monthly fee - brings a selection of titles to the service every month for subscribers to try out.
The service celebrated its 15th anniversary in July and the PlayStation Plus 15th anniversary celebrations are still going strong. From August 5, PlayStation Plus members can claim a special set of 15th Anniversary Avatars, featuring fan-favorite titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy, Diablo IV, God of War Ragnarök, and Twisted Metal.
These are all available at no additional cost. But as we stand on the cusp of a new month, we're giving you all the details on the latest batch of PlayStation Plus free games. Here's what you'll be playing in August 2025.
Lies of P, Day Z and My Hero One's Justice 2 will be available to PlayStation Plus members from August 5.
Lies of P | PS5, PS4
This game draws its inspiration from The Adventures of Pinocchio.
"In this grim reimagining of Carlo Collodi's treasured tale, Pinocchio is trying to find the mysterious Mr. Geppetto," the game synopsis reads. His journey takes him to Krat, a Belle Époque-inspired city whose humanity has been lost to madness and killer puppets.
"Pinocchio must battle for survival using a range of weapons and swappable Legion Arms with special abilities. He will also encounter non-hostile characters, but you will have to help him lie to fulfil his dream of becoming human."
Day Z | PS4
DayZ is a hardcore survival game where up to 60 players must strive to endure a post-apocalyptic world populated by frenzied infected and other survivors.
"DayZ includes the original iconic map of Chernarus and Livonia – the dense 163 km2 map which lets players experience the hardcore survival hit in a whole new environment," Playstation execs explained.
"With no checkpoints or saves, when you die, you lose everything and have to start over."
My Hero One's Justice 2 | PS4
My Hero One's Justice 2, the over-the-top follow-up to the smash hit 3D arena fighter My Hero One's Justice, makes its heroic debut. Make full use of characters' Quirks as you clash head-to-head in epic battles across huge arenas.
So far, gamers seem impressed by August's line-up, with many taking to X, previously Twitter, to share their views.

"Then a couple of years later he came back on the show but with Dr Dre and the fame had happened and he was just this other creature altogether. "They were just so playful with me - and can I just say they made me feel so tiny and so stupid." It comes as the radio DJ insisted she is not slowing down any time soon after turning 60 last month and saying that she doesn't think milestone birthdays are a "big deal". The mum-of-five said that the interview with Eminem was overall "a really unpleasant experience" as she and Zoe chatted about being starstruck by the rich and famous. Her admission comes after the broadcaster opened up about how she had been struck down by anxiety at the height of her DJing career in the 90s. She told Woman's Health: "I remember doing one gig and I was just so scared, I thought I can't go on like this. This is ridiculous. "It's ruining my life because I'm just such a ball of anxiety. Oasis gigs at Murrayfield will have major ban enforced amid concerns about fans safety
Oasis are set to play Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium this weekend for the first time in fifteen years. Oasis are set to play three huge shows at Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium this week with a no-fly zone being put in place for the gigs. Aviation watchdogs have strictly forbidden drones over the stadium amid worries that a device could fall from the sky and injure fans below. Anyone caught using the gadgets will face a fine amid a huge security operation at Murrayfield. Similar rules were brought in for Oasis' comeback performances in Manchester's Heaton Park and Cardiff's Principality Stadium last month, the Sun reports. Brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher are set to take to the stage in Scotland for the first time in fifteen years this week. They will play three sold out shows on Friday August 9, Saturday August 10 and Tuesday August 12. A source said: 'Banning drones above the gigs is the right move. "All it takes is something to go wrong or someone who doesn't know how to properly fly a drone to make a mistake. "If one falls into the crowd people could end up badly hurt.' A Civil Aviation Authority spokesman added that the ban was 'in the public interest'. An estimated 210,000 fans are expected to flock to the Capital to attend the sold out gigs. Concert goers will face strict rules with metal water bottles, large bags, hip flasks and umbrellas among the banned items. Anyone found with knives, pyrotechnics or drugs will be reported to police immediately. A Scottish Rugby spokesman said security was 'of the upmost importance' at the gigs. The concerts clash with Edinburgh's world famous Fringe arts bash of over 3,800 shows. Police said a 'proportionate and considered plan' is in place' to keep visitors safe. A force spokesman added: 'We are working to ensure the safety of those attending events and minimise disruption.' It comes after an Oasis fan tragically fell to their death during a gig at London's Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. Lee Claydon, who has been described as a "lovely family man" sadly passed away at the gig at the weekend, having suffered 'injuries consistent with a fall'. Oasis have publicly acknowledged his death in a statement as they said they were 'shocked and saddened' to hear of the death during their sell-out Wembley show this weekend. The band said in a statement: 'We are shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a fan at the show last night. Oasis would like to extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person involved.' Oasis played their final gig at Wembley the following evening on August 3 after five nights in the venue. Their next stop is now Edinburgh for three nights at Murrayfield Stadium.

"Which is hard for me because I was around adulty things that kids should never see and I think as well, when we needed our mum there, she wasn't emotionally able to be there because she had so much of her own problems going on."
