Bukit Jalil's Soto King delivers a super satisfying bowl of ‘mee soto' with various toppings
Once you taste a good bowl of mee soto though, you will agree with me that it's waiting in the wings to stage a huge comeback.
That's why Soto King deserves a big pat on the back for giving this understated bowl a proper stage to shine.
Opened in March, mee soto is celebrated with all kinds of toppings here, allowing you to create the ultimate bowl.
It's not just chicken or beef, there's also an unheard of pairing with fried fish, in a bid to make this dish more inclusive.
Bovine lovers can also enjoy variations with beef balls, tendon, tripe and brisket too.

Soto Ayam King (RM13) is the way to go for the traditional pairing of chicken with that broth layered with flavours from those earthy spices and herbs.
Traditionally served with yellow mee, here one can go crazy with a whopping eight choices with your broth.
Some are traditional pairings like the mee, nasi impit or compressed rice and even beehoon.
Here, you get unusual yee mee or even pan mee, usually used in Chinese dishes. There's also rice and mee tarik too.
The chicken broth has a warmth to it from the coriander and cumin seeds.
It's topped with peanuts, bean sprouts, juicy chicken meat, begedil, chopped coriander and spring onions.
Begedil is a must for this noodle soup, as that soft mashed potato patty mixed with that soothing broth, makes the whole eating experience even more pleasurable.
Soto Daging (RM15) is for those who prefer a deeper beef broth, topped with tender slices of beef.
Remember to squeeze the lime and add a dollop of their chilli kicap to change the flavour profile of your broth, infusing it with the spicy-sweet flavours, making it even more drinkable if you love tingly spiciness on the tongue.

While the menu is dominated by the mee soto, one can also find Ayam Penyet and Mee or Nasi Kari Ayam here.
Variations for pan mee are also served here, with soup, dry or the numbing mala flavour.
Even the beef soup can be tweaked with mala.
For weekdays, there's a set lunch ranging from RM16.90 to RM19.90, where one can select Soto Ayam King, Soto Bebola Daging, Soto Daging or Ayam Penyet with a drink and two pieces of fried wantans.
As they start early, breakfast items like toast, nasi lemak, fried noodles and a Western fry-up can also be ordered.
Located inside Aurora Place, it's comfortable air-conditioned dining, a must when you're slurping down that bowl of mee soto in this crazy heat.

Karyawan applies to intervene in judicial reviews of new copyright guidelines
Karyawan president Freddie Fernandez reiterated the association's full support for the Copyright (Collective Management Organisations) Guidelines 2025. PETALING JAYA : The Malaysian Artistes' Association (Karyawan) is seeking to be made a party to judicial review proceedings initiated by three collective management organisations (CMOs) challenging a new regulatory framework expected to take effect next year. In a statement, Karyawan president Freddie Fernandez said the association had instructed its lawyers to file applications to intervene in two separate judicial review actions seeking to quash the Copyright (Collective Management Organisations) Guidelines 2025. 'The guidelines stemmed from years of complaints by music authors, singers and composers who felt their voices were not being heard in the management of royalty collection and distribution. 'We have instructed our lawyers to file an intervener application on our behalf to support the government's guidelines, as they will finally give us a voice in determining how royalty-collecting bodies should be managed,' he said. Fernandez reiterated the association's full support for the guidelines, introduced by the domestic trade and cost of living ministry, which aim to establish a more equitable and transparent royalty collection system for the benefit of composers, singers and musicians. On July 1, the Kuala Lumpur High Court granted leave to two CMOs – Public Performance Malaysia Bhd (PPM) and Recording Performers Malaysia Bhd (RPM) – to commence judicial review proceedings over the guidelines. The court also fixed Aug 7 to hear the application by PPM and RPM to stay the enforcement of the guidelines pending the disposal of the lawsuit. The two CMOs named the controller of copyright, MyIPO, and the domestic trade and cost of living minister as respondents in their application. They claim the guidelines – scheduled to come into force on Jan 16, 2026 – were drawn up and issued by the respondents without proper consultation. They also alleged the guidelines contain provisions that exceeded the powers vested by law in the controller. On July 10, Music Authors Copyright Protection Bhd (MACP) was also granted leave by the High Court to commence a judicial review over the same guidelines. Justice Amarjeet Singh, who also presided over PPM and RPM's case, fixed Aug 19 to hear MACP's application to stay the enforcement of the guidelines pending the disposal of the lawsuit.

Lofi Girl finally graduates after seven years of non-stop studying
PETALING JAYA, July 31 — After seven years of hitting the books, Lofi Girl — the beloved animated figure behind the viral 'lo-fi hip hop radio – beats to relax/study to' YouTube stream — has finally wrapped up her studies. In a TikTok video shared on July 29 spotted by E! Online, the ever-studious character apparently swapped her signature headphones for a graduation cap, proudly holding a laptop that read, 'THE END'. The clip featured audio from Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm: 'Finally, finished with all my homework. I don't know what I learned, but I know I'm done learning.' The internet, of course, rejoiced. YouTube's official TikTok account commented, 'girl congratulations and we MEAN THAT', while Duolingo Brazil chimed in with 'End of an era'. Lofi Girl has been a fixture on YouTube since 2018, looping endlessly in a cozy, Studio Ghibli-style animation as lo-fi beats played in the background. Her study sessions were briefly interrupted in 2020 and 2022 due to copyright complaints, but YouTube later restored the streams. The channel, originally known as ChilledCow, now boasts over 15 million subscribers. As for what's next? No one's sure — but for now, Lofi Girl is finally taking a well-earned break.
