KKDW Allocates RM1.11 Billion For Rural Development In Sabah This Year
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said the allocation covered social infrastructure projects, including the construction of rural roads, provision of electricity, and water supply systems, aimed at improving access, quality of life, and sustainability for the rural population.
According to him, there is still a significant gap that must be addressed, particularly in terms of basic infrastructure, economic access, education, and rural digitalisation, therefore, KKDW remains committed to implementing comprehensive high-impact programmes, including in Sabah, to close this gap.
'There are no major electricity issues in urban areas, so rural areas must also have a good electricity supply, like in urban areas. Similarly, rural infrastructure such as roads needs to be upgraded and improved,' he said while officiating the closing ceremony of the "Sentuhan Kasih Desa MADANI Bersama Pimpinan" event here tonight.
Also present were Sabah Community Development Department (Kemas) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who is also Kinabatangan MP, and Kemas director-general Datuk Mohd Hanafiah Man.
Ahmad Zahid said that to uplift every rural child from an early age and ensure no one is left behind, KKDW was currently implementing three high-impact early education initiatives, now in the pilot phase.
He said the Smart Classroom@KEMAS initiative introduced a high-tech kindergarten and nursery model with the integration of digital Teaching and Learning (PdP), smart infrastructure facilities, and efficient governance.
He added that the PeliTa@KEMAS Programme aimed to produce a generation of young Huffaz aged seven to 12 who not only memorised 'Juz Amma', the last or 30th part of the Quran, but who also followed a systematic and phased Quranic study syllabus.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Zahid said the TABIKA Tunas Istimewa@KEMAS provided appropriate early education opportunities for children with special needs, particularly those with autism, so that they could also enjoy fair and comprehensive education.

FBM KLCI edges higher at midday as market recovers from early dip
KUALA LUMPUR: The local bourse staged a mild recovery by midday, with the FBM KLCI rebounding from early losses despite limited follow-through from Wall Street's record-setting performance. The FBM KLCI rebounded from earlier losses to rise two points, or 0.13%, to 1,550.99, after reaching an intramorning high of 1,551.78. Market breadth was mixed, with 411 gainers and 414 decliners, while 441 counters remained untraded. Trading volume stood at nearly two billion shares, valued at RM1.11 billion. Genting Plantations, the top gainer on Bursa Malaysia, rose 22 sen to RM5.23. TA Securities said the local market is likely to remain in a consolidation phase, weighed down by a lack of strong domestic catalysts and lingering uncertainty over a potential trade deal with the United States. 'Immediate index support is kept at 1,490, with stronger supports found at 1,465 followed by 1,444. 'Immediate resistance remains at 1,564 with next upside hurdles seen at the recent high of 1,586, followed by 1,610 ahead,' TA said. Meanwhile, Malacca Securities believes the local bourse may trade on a firmer footing for the session. This follows a positive lead from Wall Street, driven by sustained buying interest in tech stocks after the de-escalation of the US-Vietnam trade deal, along with the return of foreign funds over the past week. 'We anticipate the resumption of data center theme could lead to more positive trading activity within the technology and telco sectors, where Telekom Malaysia has recently experienced a breakout move,' it said. Malacca Securities said that for a more conservative play, it favours IGB REIT and Sunway REIT, citing active asset acquisitions and sustained interest in the sector.

Bursa Malaysia ends morning session mixed
KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia ended the morning session mixed as mild profit-taking in selected consumer products and services counters reversed some of the earlier gains, an analyst said. At 12.30 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) gained 2.0 points to 1,550.99 from Thursday's close of 1,548.99. The benchmark index had earlier opened 1.75 points higher at 1,550.74. The broader market was slightly negative with 414 decliners leading 410 gainers, while 441 counters were unchanged, 1,122 untraded and 21 suspended. Turnover stood at 1.97 billion units worth RM1.11 billion. Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd equity research vice-president Thong Pak Leng said the local benchmark index is expected to hover within the 1,545-1,555 range today, amid Wall Street closing overnight broadly higher following a stronger-than-expected job report. "Nonfarm payroll rose by 147,000 against the forecast of 110,000. The unemployment rate fell to 4.1 per cent versus the forecast of 4.3 per cent. "On the flipside, the stronger job market may see a delay for the Federal Reserve to cut interest rates, hence the United States (US) 10-year yield jumped to 4.35 per cent," he told Bernama. Among the heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare were 5.0 sen lower each at RM9.75 and RM6.80, Public Bank gained 5.0 sen to RM4.35, Tenaga Nasional rose 8.0 sen to RM14.10, while CIMB remained unchanged at RM6.79. As for the most active stocks, Borneo Oil was flat at half-a-sen, Zetrix AI added 2.0 sen to 99.5 sen, NexG went up half-a-sen to 39.5 sen, Nationgate edged up 7.0 sen to RM1.74, and UCrest slipped 1.0 sen to 8.5 sen. On the index board, the FBM Emas Index climbed 6.93 points to 11,624.63, the FBMT 100 Index garnered 5.17 points to 11,397.09, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index decreased 4.41 points to 11,633.61. The FBM 70 Index declined 33.88 points to 16,798.65, while the FBM ACE Index went down 22.07 points to 4,505.95. ‘I'll not allow my name to be erased': Nurulhidayah tells media to stop calling her just ‘Zahid's daughter'
KUALA LUMPUR, July 3 – Datuk Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid has called on the media to stop referring to her solely as 'Zahid's daughter' in headlines, urging for recognition of her own name and identity in news reports. In a Facebook post, Nurulhidayah acknowledged her pride in being the daughter of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, but stressed that she is also an independent individual with her own views and contributions. 'Every person deserves to be recognised and respected by their own name and for their own contributions,' she said, adding that repeated use of the label 'Zahid's daughter' effectively erases her identity. 'I believe the media has a responsibility to report accurately, fairly, and with respect for each person's identity, regardless of their family ties.' She attached a screenshot of a Malaysiakini report citing her remarks on former Umno members who wish to return to the party. Nurulhidayah said she does not deny her familial ties, but believes ethical journalism should prioritise accurate and respectful identification of individuals. 'I have never asked to be glorified or held in high regard, but I do ask that my name — Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid — be used ethically in writing,' she said. Nurulhidayah added that while her father's name will always be associated with her, it should not come at the cost of diminishing her own personal agency or professional standing.
