Jurassic World Rebirth Box Office: Roars back in second weekend emerging HIT

Pink Villa4 hours ago
Jurassic World: Rebirth had a solid second weekend at the Indian box office, collecting Rs. 20.25 crore (USD 2.35 million) approx. The film eased off just 53 per cent off its first weekend, despite facing a major new release. For comparison, Dominion had tumbled 71 per cent in its second weekend, while Fallen Kingdom fell 69 per cent.
The film had a decent to good opening last week, but following a sharp decline on weekdays, its prospects started to look a bit dim. However, it first surprised with a good hold on Friday and then witnessed a massive 150 per cent surge on Saturday. The Sunday business was relatively flat, but when Saturday goes that high, there is always a chance of muted Sunday growth.
It seems like the film will play stronger on the weekends and then slow down on weekdays. This is a typical pattern for Hollywood films, but for Rebirth, it seems much more extreme than seen with the previous instalments in the franchise. The total gross for the film after ten days in release stands at Rs. 81.25 crore (USD 9.50 million) approx. It seems poised to cross the Rs. 100 crore gross mark, which seemed doubtful after the first week. It needs to be seen if it can go higher and take down Fallen Kingdom as the second highest grossing film in the franchise, chances of which look pretty good after the weekend it had.
The film is a HIT at the Indian box office, a welcome recovery after the slip of Dominion. The Jurassic franchise is one of the biggest from Hollywood, which has given two major blockbusters. Ideally, these films should be grossing over Rs. 200 crore or even Rs. 300 crore in India, but the quality of films has always been off after the first one, which is one of the greatest films ever made.

Sitaare Zameen Par Box Office: Aamir Khan starrer tops 250cr worldwide but misfires overseas

Sitaare Zameen Par has nearly wrapped up its international box office run, grossing just over USD 200K in its fourth weekend. The total overseas collection of the film now stands at USD 7.80 million (Rs. 67 crore). The Aamir Khan starrer managed a run in India, but overseas it has been subpar. The worldwide gross for the film stands at Rs. 254 crore, largely driven by its domestic haul. SZP falls short of Laal Singh Chaddha Overseas To put things in perspective, the overseas biz of Sitaare Zameen Par is still short of Laal Singh Chaddha, which was a DISASTER. By the end of its run, it will probably get even with it but that is despite the Middle East business being more than double that of LSC, which implies the rest of the markets have fared significantly worse. The film had a soft start but showed promise with a big growth on Saturday. At that point, it looked like it might cruise past USD 10 million, possibly even stretching to USD 15 million with strong legs. However, it came back of earth soon after on Sunday and the trend since then has been rather ordinary. The film has underperformed across the board, but the United States is the biggest letdown. Traditionally, the strongest market for Aamir and generally friendly to films of this genre, the US turnout was tepid, set to close under USD 2 million. The best performer is ironically the Middle East, ironic because generally films like this underperform here. So, just a weird set of performances. Will China come to the rescue? Sitaare Zameen Par is expected to release in the East Asian markets later this year, including China. Aamir Khan is the biggest name from Indian cinema in China, who has delivered two mega blockbusters in Dangal and Secret Superstar. How SZP performs in China could change the entire narrative of the film; however, that market is struggling lately, so it's unclear how that will go at this moment. The territorial breakdown for Sitaare Zameen Par overseas box office is as follows:

Richa Chadha Calls Radhika Yadav's Father A ‘Loser', Slams Those Justifying Her Murder

Richa Chadha calls Radhika Yadav's father a 'coward' and slams social media users defending her murder. 'The world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser,' she says. Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has strongly condemned those defending the brutal killing of former junior tennis player Radhika Yadav, who was shot dead by her father, Deepak Yadav, at their Gurugram residence on July 10. The 25-year-old athlete was allegedly killed after a heated argument, with her father later confessing to the crime. According to police, Deepak cited frustration over being financially dependent on his daughter and feeling humiliated by societal taunts. Taking to her official X (formerly Twitter) account on July 13, Richa Chadha did not mince her words. Reacting to a video shared by Radhika's friend, Himanshikha Singh Rajput, who claimed Radhika was often shamed for wearing shorts, speaking to boys, and living life on her terms, Richa lashed out at the patriarchal mindset and those attempting to rationalize the murder. There is no honour in killing your own child. If a few wagging tongues said stuff to him earlier, now the whole world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser, forever. Deepak Yadav, you have cemented your place as a LOSER and a COWARD in the annals of history. — RichaChadha (@RichaChadha) July 13, 2025 'There is no honour in killing your own child. If a few wagging tongues said stuff to him earlier, now the whole world will remember Deepak Yadav as a loser, forever," she wrote. 'Deepak Yadav, you have cemented your place as a LOSER and a COWARD in the annals of history." Richa further responded to an X user who remarked, 'The most pathetic thing is men justifying it. I mean wtf is even happening here?" with a curt but cutting reply: 'Losers too." The actress's statements come amid disturbing trends on social media, where some users shockingly called Deepak a 'hero" after reports surfaced that Radhika had been dating a Muslim boy. While police are still investigating all possible triggers, initial statements suggest the tennis academy run by Radhika was a point of friction, as it made her the financial provider of the household—something Deepak reportedly resented. Adding another layer of complexity, Radhika had also featured in a 2024 romantic music video alongside independent artist Inam-ul-Haq, who clarified to ANI that he had no recent contact with her and had nothing to do with the tragedy. Radhika was shot four times—three bullets in her back and one in the shoulder. Her body was handed over to the family after postmortem and taken to her native village in Wazirabad for last rites on July 11. As outrage continues to build, Richa Chadha's vocal stand is a reminder of the urgent need to confront the toxic notions of honour, control, and gendered violence that still lurk in the shadows of modern Indian society.
