SM activates automatic lease contract attestation

Sharjah 2410-07-2025
Streamlining process
Abdullah Al Shahil, Director of the Rental Regulation Department, described the move as a significant step towards simplifying procedures and reducing the time it takes for tenants to attest lease contracts of all types. He explained that the attestation is now processed automatically based on the data available within the municipality's system. Once attested, the contract is forwarded to SEWA, and the tenant receives a text message detailing the electricity deposit fees. Upon payment, the utility service is activated.
Supporting digital transformation goals
Al Shahil, Director of the Rental Regulation Department, emphasised that this initiative reflects the municipality's commitment to offering a streamlined and efficient service that aligns with Sharjah's broader vision for digital transformation. He highlighted the effectiveness of the unified electronic system linking government entities, which has contributed to faster transaction processing and improved customer satisfaction.
Service through "Aqari" platform
The new lease attestation and utility activation process can be completed through the Aqari' platform, which serves as a model for digital government services in the real estate sector. Al Shehhi noted that this achievement was made possible through sustained cooperation with the Sharjah Digital Office and SEWA as part of ongoing efforts to achieve a full digital transformation in municipal services.

Construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year, while the second phase of natural gas service delivery to the Al Doub and Al Muhallab neighborhoods in Dibba Al Hisn will be completed next year, he added. During the programme, Al Raeesi reviewed an awareness-raising material produced by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in co-operation with SEWA. The material explained how to protect lives and homes from natural gas leaks and the required safety measures. Earlier, a caller to the programme said she had moved to a new residence and requested community awareness on how to handle any natural gas-related emergencies.

Al Shamsi emphasised SEWA's ongoing commitment to expanding the initiative's beneficiary base, which was launched under the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Al Shamsi noted that the new phase of the initiative has begun, with conservation devices and tools installed in beneficiaries' houses and work teams have started operations in several areas. Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Corporate Communications at SEWA, stated that the initiative is not limited to installing conservation devices but also aims to educate families and domestic workers on proper electricity and water conservation practices through various initiatives. He affirmed SEWA's commitment to collaborating with all relevant entities to expand the initiative's reach and periodically evaluate its impact to ensure it achieves its intended goals.
