Sharjah installs over 17,774 electricity and water conservation devices in 1,610 houses
It is worth noting that more than 7,000 recipients of the inflation allowance in the Emirate of Sharjah have benefited from the initiative.
Majid Harimel Al Shamsi, SEWA's Executive Director of Corporate Support, explained that the Home Conservation Initiative contributes to rationalising consumption, reducing utility bills for beneficiaries, and achieving sustainability. He added that it has already reduced water consumption by 63% and lighting consumption by 55% in previous phases implemented by the authority. Al Shamsi emphasised SEWA's ongoing commitment to expanding the initiative's beneficiary base, which was launched under the directives of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Shamsi noted that the new phase of the initiative has begun, with conservation devices and tools installed in beneficiaries' houses and work teams have started operations in several areas.
Rashid Al Marzouqi, Director of the Corporate Communications at SEWA, stated that the initiative is not limited to installing conservation devices but also aims to educate families and domestic workers on proper electricity and water conservation practices through various initiatives.
He affirmed SEWA's commitment to collaborating with all relevant entities to expand the initiative's reach and periodically evaluate its impact to ensure it achieves its intended goals.

Conclusion of the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival 2025
The Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival, organized by the Ajman Department of Tourism Development (ADTD), under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, concluded its 10th edition, which was held in the Emirates Hospitality Center from July 30 to August 3. The current edition witnessed wide Gulf participation, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Sultanate of Oman, Jordan and Egypt, in addition to an elite group of participants from governmental and private entities, promoting the festival's position as a leading regional platform for celebrating agricultural and heritage production, and enhancing cultural communication between the peoples of Arab countries. The festival's latest edition features an eclectic array of events such as art performances and competitions across diverse categories and age groups. The agenda also included educational sessions on palm cultivation and beekeeping methods, along with a series of training workshops on local handicrafts, and a children's corner for hosting artistic events, competitions and educational activities. Mahmood Khaleel Alhashmi, Director-General of ADTD said: 'In its tenth year and with its remarkable success today, the Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival proves its importance as a cultural platform that consolidates the local heritage and supports farmers, beekeepers and local project owners, strengthening the emirate's position as a prominent destination for traditional events.' He added: 'At the Ajman Department of Tourism Development, we are keen to expand and diversify the agenda of events with each session, developing content and achieving broad local and regional community participation. This reflects our dedication to highlighting Ajman's role as an emirate that preserves the Emirati identity and authentic values and seeks to transfer them to future generations.' The 10th edition hosted a series of workshops, most notably drawing on palm trunk, medal making using weaving techniques, the diamond coloring workshop, Suroud decoration workshop, Al Jafeer decorating workshop, and many others. It also held daily auctions for dates, honey and various traditional artefacts, part of the proceeds of which will be allocated to charity, in addition to traditional events that highlighted the Emirati culture. The event attracted widespread participation from the country's emirates, through its unique contests featuring various categories, including the Emirates of Ajman, North Emirates, Other Emirates, Citrus & Fruits, and Hoey Contest. Date contests covered the most well-known types, such as Khalas, Berhi, Lulu, Khenaizy, and Ajman Palms, while honey contests included types like Sumar, Crystallized, Sidr, Beeswax, and many others and Fruit contests included lemon, mango, and almond, figs, and Citrus. The 10th Liwa Ajman Dates and Honey Festival featured 61 exhibitors from across the nation, including farmers, beekeepers, entrepreneurs and business owners, in addition to representatives from various government and private entities. This dynamic gathering in a unique cultural environment contributes to safeguarding Ajman's rich heritage while enhancing its authentic identity and consolidating its pioneering position as a leading tourist and cultural destination, both regionally and globally.

Sheikh Sultan directs provision of natural gas service to Sharjah cities
His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has ordered the natural gas service be delivered to all cities in the emirate. The project in Dibba Al Hisn alone will cost Dhs22 million. This was announced by Eng. Ibrahim Al Balgouni, Director of Natural Gas Department at Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA), in a conversation with Mohammed Al Raeesi on the Direct Line programme, broadcast on Sharjah Broadcasting Authority. The natural gas project in Dibba Al Hisn is in its final stage and covers three sectors with priority given to the residential sector followed by the industrial sector and then the commercial sector, he said. Meanwhile, as many as 1,510 benefited from the project in the northern and western districts at a cost of Dhs10 million. The internal arrangements were made to 200 villas at a cost of Dhs1.2 million and the completion rate reached 75 per cent, he added. Work is underway to build a natural gas station in Dibba Al Hisn at a cost of Dhs10 million with 90 per cent of the project complete, he said. Construction is expected to be completed by the beginning of the fourth quarter of this year, while the second phase of natural gas service delivery to the Al Doub and Al Muhallab neighborhoods in Dibba Al Hisn will be completed next year, he added. During the programme, Al Raeesi reviewed an awareness-raising material produced by Sharjah Broadcasting Authority, in co-operation with SEWA. The material explained how to protect lives and homes from natural gas leaks and the required safety measures. Earlier, a caller to the programme said she had moved to a new residence and requested community awareness on how to handle any natural gas-related emergencies.

Qatar: QEWC reports H1 net profit of $181.86mln, approves 24.4% interim dividend
Qatar Electricity and Water Company (QEWC) has generated a net profit (attributable to the equity holders) of QR662mn in the first half of 2025 and has suggested 24.4% interim dividend for the period. The company reported revenue of QR1.45bn compared to QR1.43bn during the same period in 2024. Operating profit amounted to QR504mn against QR616mn the same period in 2024, said QEWC after its board meeting, presided over by HE Saad bin Sherida al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs. The company's net earnings were down 3%, even as revenues rose 1% on an annualised basis at the end of six-month ended June 2025. Total assets of the company shot up 3% year-on-year to QR23.4bn in January-June 2025. Total amount of interim dividend payment for the first half of the year will be QR268.4mn.
