ALLY McCOIST rarely disappoints whether he's on the radio giving his thoughts on Scottish football or analysing the biggest games across Europe from the commentary booth.
The Rangers legend is one of Britain's most popular football pundits and it's fair to say when McCoist speaks, the whole audience sits back and listens.

And that's exactly what Sky Sports legend Jim White did when McCoist came back on air in the talkSPORT studio for a very special live broadcast on October 26, 2021.
That was the day his close friend, old boss and mentor Walter Smith tragically passed away at the age of 73 following a battle with cancer.
McCoist was already on the radio that day in his usual breakfast slot before the sad news was announced that afternoon when White and Simon Jordan were on air.
But although McCoist was understandably heartbroken by the tragic news, that didn't stop him from making a brave return to the studio to discuss the legendary manager and open up on their long-lasting friendship both in football and outside it.
Rangers' all-time record goal-scorer was hailed by White and Jordan and the thousands listening in for his touching words so soon after his passing.
And it's a moment the Scottish presenter will never forget.
Asked about McCoist on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, White said: "He's terrific. He's as well known down here (in England) as he is up Glasgow.
"There are so many wonderful aspects about Ally - he never changes, what you see is what you get.
"He never tries to be anything other than what he is - and that's a very hospitable, friendly and honest guy.
"He's become one of the best co-commentators around. If he commentates on a live game then he trends on twitter. He's great, he's wonderful.
Football icons such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Gordon Strachan, Ally McCoist and Frank Lampard gather for memorial service to Walter Smith
"There's one thing I will never forget. Simon Jordan and I were live on talkSPORT one day and Ally had already been on that morning and had come off air.
"The sad news came through of the sad passing of Walter Smith and Ally was extremely upset in another room.
"I knew he was still in the building so during a commercial break I went through and asked him if he could find a way to make it through, would he be willing to come into the studio to join me and Simon.
"I told him: 'I know it's tough and I understand if you can't do it but if you want to then the offer is there'.
"Around 25 minutes later the door opens and Ally came in to speak to us for about half an hour about what Walter meant to him.
"I'll never forget his words that day, he was incredible.
"He was shattered sitting there. Shattered by the news of his great friend and former boss had passed away, but he did it and I'll never forget him for it.
"I love McCoist, he's a special guy."

Lewis Capaldi honoured by Google after surprise set at Glastonbury

Google has made a sweet tribute to Lewis Capaldi after the singer returned to Glastonbury Festival on Friday night - and anyone searching his name online can now read the message Lewis Capaldi was given a special tribute by Google after his surprise appearance at Glastonbury on Friday night - two years after he last performed at the festival. The Scottish singer was emotional as he returned to Worthy Farm, telling fans he needed to finish what he couldn't last time. Back in 2023, Lewis, 28, struggled to finish his set, with his voice faltering, and told fans he would need to take a break for a while. ‌ But last night, the singer delighted the crowd by performing on stage as he declared: "I'm back, baby." And after his performance, Google shared a touching tribute in honour of Lewis. ‌ Anyone Googling his name is now shown a sweet message that reads "Welcome back Lewis - Someone we love" surrounded by red heart emojis. Ahead of his festival performance on Friday, Lewis released a new song called Survive. Alongside the post announcing it, he shared a video and captioned it: "It's been a while." The new song is full of emotion with lyrics including "I swear to God I'll survive" and "I'm going to get up and live until the day that I die." It is his first new release since stepping out of the spotlight because of his mental health. Lewis has been open about his mental health and hypochondria in the past. He said in 2022: "If I'm having a panic attack there's nobody else that can help me out of it except my mum, for sure. My mum has had to sleep in my bed as recently as a month ago because of how bad my anxiety got at one point. But I think that was alcohol related to be honest, I had been on a bit of a bender." He added: "It never really reached a tipping point until after getting famous, I never had a panic attack until after I was famous, or after I was a musician or after I got to a height. The hypochondria - I guess looking back, I was such an anxious kid, but now because I understand it a lot more with therapy and I speak about it a lot more with people and try to learn more about it, I look back at it and think the behaviour was a result of anxiety." ‌ During his last Glastonbury set, Lewis struggled to finish his set. His voice faltered and he told the crowd: "Glastonbury, I'm really sorry. I'm a bit annoyed with myself." The crowd soon took over the vocals of Someone You Loved. "I feel like I'll be taking another wee break over the next couple of weeks. So you probably won't see much of me for the rest of the year, maybe even. But when I do come back and when I do see you, I hope you're still up for watching us," he told the crowd. Feeling emotional, he said: "I genuinely dreamt of doing this. If I never get to do it again, this has been enough." On Friday, Lewis opened his set with Before You Go and he told fans "second time's a charm", referencing what happened last time. He said he didn't want to say too much or he'd cry as he thanked fans for supporting him during the gig and also in the aftermath. His performance was interrupted by chants of "Oh Lewis Capaldi" but he stopped them and said he only had a short set and limited time. He told fans: "Thank you for being here, genuinely. For each and every one of you."

Two weeks ago while speaking to radio presenter Jo Whiley, the band teased their fans about the not so secret slot. Alana said: "We love The Park Stage. The Park Stage is our favourite, 'cause that was like the first time we came to Glastonbury, we got to play The Park Stage. It felt like a movie." She added: "It was like, 'What is going on? How did we get here?' And also just like… you never forget the first time you step onto the farm. And it's the most insane feeling, I think, that you'll ever have. Kwame Poku breaks silence on why he chose QPR over Rangers as he makes ‘next level' claim

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) KWAME POKU has revealed why he chose Queen's Park Rangers over Glasgow Rangers. The Peterborough United Player of the Year was one of Russell Martin's key transfer targets before he opted for a move to Loftus Road instead. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 1 Kwame Poku speaking to QPR TV after sealing his move Credit: QPR Poku, 23, was unveiled by the Championship side as their latest summer signing this afternoon in a major blow to the new Ibrox gaffer. The QPR social media admin rubbed salt into the wounds by trolling the Light Blues with an official announcement which read: "Kwame Poku signs for THE Rangers", followed by a winking face emoji. The Ghana international, who scored 12 goals and provided eight assists in EFL League One last year, has made the step up a division after being a standout in the third tier last season. But he also had the option of European football at Ibrox, with Martin keen to bring him in as a direct replacement for Vaclav Cerny. Poku lifted the lid on his decision to snub Gers in his first interview after becoming a QPR player. Asked why he chose the Loftus Road side, Poku said: "I think speaking to the manager, and speaking to everyone here, the project they are building here excites me and I want to be part of taking QPR to the next level. "When I was speaking to (new QPR boss) Julien Stephan he was talking about where he sees me fitting in and where he thinks I can influence the game. That's what really attracted me. "Being 23 turning 24, I'm not quite young anymore so I want to come in and make my mark from the jump." Chief executive Christian Nourry claimed his side fended off competition from across Europe to land the wide-man. He said: "His decision to join the football club today in the face of interest from Europe-competing teams abroad and Championship teams with significantly bigger budgets than us is a fantastic validation of the direction we are moving in, including a specialised focus on individual player development." New Rangers chiefs Andrew Cavenagh and Paraag Marathe's first interview Legendary Peterborough chief Barry was hopeful Poku would choose to make another English club his next home, as it meant Posh would receive a bigger development fee than if he moved across the border. And current club chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: "I am delighted that Kwame has decided to join a club whereby the football club secured a solid transfer fee and a fantastic sell-on clause to continue to share financially in his success in going to the top. "We wish Kwame and his family nothing but the best for the future." Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
