Scotch-Brite Teams Up With Ally Love To Announce 'National Shine Brite Day'
Originally published on 3M News Center ST. PAUL, Minn., June 27, 2025 /3BL/ -- Scotch-Brite™, America's #1-selling scrub sponge brand, introduces National Shine Brite Day, a yearly celebration that invites people everywhere to see cleaning in a new light – shifting the mindset from a task on a to-do list into a way to express yourself, refresh your space and feel good doing it. National Shine Brite Day is part of the brand's " Brite Side of Clean " campaign, which launched earlier this spring to usher in a fresh era of cleaning, one that centers on joy, self-expression and the satisfaction of a job well done. Featuring an energetic 30-second spot set to Outkast's iconic early-2000s anthem 'So Fresh, So Clean,' the campaign invites everyone to dance through their chores and transform cleaning from a task into a powerful act of self-expression and positivity. To help kick off the celebration, Scotch-Brite has teamed up with Ally Love, Peloton Instructor, VP of instructor strategy and development, and on-air Today show contributor, as a Clean Partner. Known for her energy, motivation and love of movement, Ally is inspiring people to reframe their routines by pairing cleaning with music, dance and the kind of positive vibes that turn even the smallest tasks into mini celebrations. 'Cleaning is part of my daily routine – not just to reset my space; it's an act of mindfulness, movement and joy,' said Love. 'My process starts with my favorite playlist - it keeps the energy up and makes the experience more enjoyable and fun. I love seeing the physical transformation from messy to clean – it's a visual affirmation that my actions matter, that small acts have big impact. National Shine Brite Day is a reminder that cleaning is more than a task, it's an opportunity to celebrate the creativity and pride that comes with a clean and refreshed space.' June 26 holds a special significance for the brand as it marks the anniversary of Scotch-Brite's first appearance on shelves in 1958. Nearly seven decades later, the brand continues to be a pioneer in the cleaning category with innovative solutions that brighten homes and lives. 'National Shine Brite Day is about more than creating a clean space – it's about choosing to find joy in the process,' says Joe Paul, chief marketing officer, 3M Consumer Business Group. 'Scotch-Brite is committed to providing consumers with creative, sensorial solutions to cleaning – for every day and every mess.' Whether it's the satisfaction of a dramatic before-and-after, the thrill of discovering a clever cleaning hack, or the joy of dancing your way through chores - Scotch-Brite believes cleaning should feel good. The brand encourages everyone to find the sparkle, share the fun and help others see the 'brite side' too! Spain asks for break on NATO contribution: Report
Leaders in Madrid urged NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte to exempt them from a proposed defense spending goal set at 5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP) ahead of next week's summit at The Hague. 'Committing to a 5% target would not only be unreasonable, but also counterproductive, as it would move Spain further away from optimal spending and would hinder the EU's ongoing efforts to strengthen its security and defence ecosystem,' Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez wrote in a letter to Rutte, according to a copy reviewed by Reuters. 'It is the legitimate right of every government to decide whether or not they are willing to make those sacrifices. As a sovereign Ally, we choose not to,' he added. Spain currently has the lowest military spending among member nations, devoting 1.3 percent of its GDP to defense spending last year, according to reports from Politico EU. Member nations agreed to commit 2 percent of their GDP to defense spending in 2014, with the hope of ensuring NATO can sustain continued military readiness. The Russia-Ukraine conflict has sparked concerns about the possibility of a wider war involving Europe amid Russian President Vladimir Putin's push to obtain more land. Spain said the Kremlin poses no current threat to its borders but did not oppose heightened security for other NATO member nations. 'Of course, it is not our intention to limit the spending ambitions of other allies or to obstruct the outcome of the upcoming summit,' Sánchez wrote in the letter. Rutte has suggested that an increase in defense spending levels should ensure 3.5 percent of GDP is allocated to military expenditures, while 1.5 percent is allocated for defense-related items, such as military mobility and cybersecurity, Politico EU reported. However, Sánchez said the policy would force Spain to purchase off-the-shelf equipment instead of cultivating its own industrial base, as recorded in his letter. President Trump has encouraged Rutte's push for growth, citing a mounting concern about the United States's dominant support of the war in Ukraine, a nonmember nation designated as a NATO partner country. Although his administration signed a minerals agreement with the country to recoup the financial commitment for weapons packages and the purchase of military equipment, the president has urged other nations to help back the Eastern European ally. 'I didn't see Spain's comments, I'll make sure the president sees them and I can assure you he wants to see all European countries pay their fair share and meet that 5 percent threshold,' White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said during Thursday's press briefing. 'It's only fair considering the American taxpayers have given a significant chunk of money to the tune of billions of dollars to support our mutual interests and our assured defense.' The NATO summit is set to take place June 24-25 and would require all 32 member nations to approve the increase in defense spending to solidify the objective. 'The NATO Summit is coming at a very precarious moment for the transatlantic relationship, marked by uncertainty about the US commitment to Europe, a relative stalemate in peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and ongoing tensions over transatlantic trade,' Lauren Speranza, a fellow at the Center for European Policy Analysis, said in a statement. 'As the first NATO summit of President Trump's second term, I do think the meeting will offer us some insight into how the administration will approach the Alliance going forward, following some of the previous criticisms we've heard of NATO and calls for Europe to do more to take greater responsibility for its own defense.' ‘Never forget it' – Sky Sports icon opens up on ‘incredible' emotional moment with Rangers hero Ally McCoist live on air
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) ALLY McCOIST rarely disappoints whether he's on the radio giving his thoughts on Scottish football or analysing the biggest games across Europe from the commentary booth. The Rangers legend is one of Britain's most popular football pundits and it's fair to say when McCoist speaks, the whole audience sits back and listens. 2 Ally McCoist is one of the busiest men in football Credit: Alamy 2 Jim White has revealed how the Rangers legend once blew him away Credit: talkSPORT And that's exactly what Sky Sports legend Jim White did when McCoist came back on air in the talkSPORT studio for a very special live broadcast on October 26, 2021. That was the day his close friend, old boss and mentor Walter Smith tragically passed away at the age of 73 following a battle with cancer. McCoist was already on the radio that day in his usual breakfast slot before the sad news was announced that afternoon when White and Simon Jordan were on air. But although McCoist was understandably heartbroken by the tragic news, that didn't stop him from making a brave return to the studio to discuss the legendary manager and open up on their long-lasting friendship both in football and outside it. Rangers' all-time record goal-scorer was hailed by White and Jordan and the thousands listening in for his touching words so soon after his passing. And it's a moment the Scottish presenter will never forget. Asked about McCoist on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, White said: "He's terrific. He's as well known down here (in England) as he is up Glasgow. "There are so many wonderful aspects about Ally - he never changes, what you see is what you get. "He never tries to be anything other than what he is - and that's a very hospitable, friendly and honest guy. "He's become one of the best co-commentators around. If he commentates on a live game then he trends on twitter. He's great, he's wonderful. Football icons such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Gordon Strachan, Ally McCoist and Frank Lampard gather for memorial service to Walter Smith "There's one thing I will never forget. Simon Jordan and I were live on talkSPORT one day and Ally had already been on that morning and had come off air. "The sad news came through of the sad passing of Walter Smith and Ally was extremely upset in another room. "I knew he was still in the building so during a commercial break I went through and asked him if he could find a way to make it through, would he be willing to come into the studio to join me and Simon. "I told him: 'I know it's tough and I understand if you can't do it but if you want to then the offer is there'. "Around 25 minutes later the door opens and Ally came in to speak to us for about half an hour about what Walter meant to him. "I'll never forget his words that day, he was incredible. "He was shattered sitting there. Shattered by the news of his great friend and former boss had passed away, but he did it and I'll never forget him for it. "I love McCoist, he's a special guy." Minjee Lee keeps cool to bag third Major title
Australian Minjee Lee captured her third Major title with a composed victory at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship on Sunday. Lee carded a closing two-over-par 74 at Fields Ranch East at PGA Frisco for a tournament total of four-under-par 284, three shots ahead of American Auston Kim and Thailand's Chanettee Wannasaen. This was Lee's first victory on the LPGA Tour since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship. Earlier rounds of 69, 72 and 69 had given Lee a four-shot lead over Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul heading into the final day. Although the chasing pack managed to narrow the deficit to two shots at various stages, the Australian handled the pressure and windy conditions with poise to seal the win with five bogeys and three birdies. 'It feels pretty amazing. I feel like I really deserve this one. I put a lot of hard work into it. I had to really dig deep for today's score, but I feel like I was pretty solid over the four days to have this trophy in my hand now,' said Lee, whose previous Major wins came at the 2022 U.S. Women's Open presented by Ally and The Amundi Evian Championship in 2021. Kim and Wannasaen both shot solid 68s to move up the leaderboard into a share of second place on one-under-par 287, two shots clear of Thitikul and Japan's Chisato Iwai. World No. 2 Thitikul, who had led the first and second rounds, had disappointing weekend scores of 76 and 75 to settle for joint fourth place with Iwai on one-over-par 289. The popular Thai star has won five times on the LPGA Tour but is still hunting for a maiden Major title. Lee's first LPGA Tour win since the 2023 BMW Ladies Championship took her title tally to 11. The 29-year-old now needs to win the AIG Women's Open or The Chevron Championship to complete the career Grand Slam. Lee is the third Australian to win three or more Major championships, joining Karrie Webb (7) and Jan Stephenson (3). The KPMG Women's PGA Championship has now been won by four Australians– Lee (2025), Hannah Green (2019), Webb (2001) and Stephenson (1982). 'It's just really special. Only three other names on this trophy are Australian, so I think it's such a great privilege to be able to have my name with them as well. I guess it shows the grit of the Aussies,' noted Lee. The next stop for the LPGA Tour is Midland Country Club in Michigan for this week's two-player team format Dow Championship. This will be followed by a one-week break before the players head across the Atlantic for the tour's much-awaited European swing, which includes the final two Majors of the 2025 season – The Amundi Evian Championship (July 10-13) at Evian Resort in France and the AIG Women's Open (July 31-August 3) at Royal Porthcawl in Wales.
