Rugby-Scotland lose Jordan and Ritchie to injury
(Reuters) -Scotland centre Tom Jordan and loose forward Jamie Ritchie have been ruled out of their test against Samoa on Friday after suffering injuries in Fiji last weekend, Scottish Rugby said on Monday.
Jordan played the entire match despite sustaining a fractured hand during the 29-14 defeat in Suva, while former captain Ritchie hurt his foot and was replaced after 21 minutes.
Confirmation of their unavailability came after the call-up of three Scottish players as injury cover for the British and Irish Lions.
Rory Sutherland, Ewan Ashman and Darcy Graham will bolster the squad for the Lions' match against the First Nations-Pasifika team on July 22 in Melbourne.
That comes between the first and second tests against Australia and allows Lions coach Andy Farrell to rest all the players who will be involved in the test.
Winger Graham joined up with the Lions on Monday, two days after he received two yellow cards and left Scotland a man down for the last part of their loss to Fiji.
Loosehead prop Sutherland, who played in two tests in the last Lions tour in South Africa, and hooker Ewan Ashman will stay with the Scottish camp until after their test against Samoa, which is being played in Auckland, New Zealand.

British tennis player Tara Moore handed 4-year doping ban
LONDON: British tennis player Tara Moore was handed a four-year anti-doping sanction by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on Tuesday. Moore tested positive for the anabolic steroids boldenone and nandrolone following a tournament in Colombia in April 2022. The 32-year-old was provisionally suspended at the time, but an independent tribunal ruled in December 2023 that Moore bore no fault or negligence. However, the CAS confirmed on Tuesday that it has upheld the appeal made by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA). Moore had made a counter- appeal, arguing that the presence of the banned substances in her system were caused by food eaten while in Colombia. Moore, the No. 1-ranked doubles player in Britain when she was provisionally banned, will be subject to the four-year ban minus 19 months already served. She will not be eligible to compete again until the start of the 2028 season. "For the ITIA, every case is considered according to the individual facts and circumstances," ITIA chief executive officer Karen Moorhouse said. "Our bar for appealing a first instance decision is high, and the decision is not taken lightly. "In this case, our independent scientific advice was that the player did not adequately explain the high level of nandrolone present in their sample. Today's ruling is consistent with this position. We understand that players and their support teams may have questions about this decision, and we will answer these fully once we have reviewed the details of the ruling." Moore's suspension follows on the heels of World No. 1 Jannik Sinner serving a three-month anti-doping ban earlier this year. Former women's world No. 1 Iga Swiatek served a one-month suspension after testing positive for the prohibited substance trimetazidine in August 2024.

Man City sign kit deal worth reported £1 billion
LONDON: Manchester City have signed a blockbuster new kit deal with Puma worth a reported £1 billion (RM5.7 billion) over the next 10 years. City's extension of their contract with Puma ranks as the largest kit manufacturing partnership in Premier League history. Having agreed a £65 million per year deal with the German company in 2019, City's new arrangement is believed to be worth a £100 million per year until 2035, according to British media reports. That figure shatters the £90 million per year deal signed by Manchester United with Adidas in 2023. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona are both reported to have kit deals worth in excess of £100 million per year. "We joined forces with Puma with the ambition to challenge ourselves and go beyond the expectations. We have achieved this and more over the last six seasons," City Football Group chief executive Ferran Soriano said. "Puma have seamlessly integrated into our organisation, and we have enjoyed many historic moments together, engaging fans globally."
