In a statement, USM said a total of 71 second-year students from its School of Communication took part in the programme, Comm@Love In Transit (Comm@L.I.T.), organised in collaboration with PTGPP and supported by Service-Learning Malaysia–University for Society USM (SULAM-USM).
Held yesterday, the initiative aimed to uplift PTGPP residents through a series of vibrant, interactive activities, including an explore race, gotong-royong (communal clean-up), an oral health awareness talk, and a community celebration.

Fifth body found in Belawai boat tragedy, five still missing
MUKAH: The death toll from the Belawai boat tragedy has risen to five after another victim was recovered today. Search operations continue for five missing individuals following the capsizing incident off Pantai Belawai. The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the recovery of a boy's body at 6 pm, approximately 300 metres from the accident site. His age remains undetermined. 'Five victims have been confirmed dead, five are still missing, and seven were rescued. All missing victims are adult males,' said a department spokesperson. The boat, carrying 17 Indonesian nationals, capsized yesterday afternoon while travelling from Kampung Belawai fishermen's jetty to the Zion Pelita Coconut Plantation jetty. KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 (Bernama) -- The results of the Sijil Vokasional Malaysia (SVM) Semester 4 Session 2/2024 examination for the 2023 cohort will be announced tomorrow (July 7), the Ministry of Education (MOE) said in a statement. A total of 15,897 candidates had registered for the examination, which was held at 86 vocational colleges nationwide. 'Candidates can obtain their examination results at their respective colleges starting at 10 am.

The KMP Tunu Pratama Jaya went down late Wednesday night in waters off Ketapang, Banyuwangi, East Java, leaving six dead and 30 of the 65 passengers and crew rescued so far. "We will not stop until all victims are found. This is a humanitarian responsibility that must not be abandoned halfway,' said Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi in a statement. He said search efforts had been reinforced with assets from the Indonesian Navy, including a vessel equipped with sonar capable of detecting underwater objects at depths of up to 400 metres. A helicopter, navy divers from the special forces unit, and experts from the Hydro-Oceanographic Centre have also been deployed. National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) deputy for operations and preparedness, R. Eko Suyatno, said more than 10 vessels from the navy, police, and regional agencies, along with local fishing boats, are involved in the joint operation. The sea search area has been expanded to a 20-nautical-mile radius south of the suspected sinking site, while on land, teams of soldiers, police, and volunteers are combing the Banyuwangi coastline. "Two helicopters are conducting sweeps from north to south as part of the aerial search,' he said. Authorities are also preparing for a possible underwater recovery, with 22 divers having undergone medical examinations and additional equipment staged at the port, he added.
