Jonathan Majors Set To Star in a New Action Movie TRUE THREAT — GeekTyrant

Geek Tyrant25-05-2025
Jonathan Majors is set to star in director Gerard McMurray's upcmong action movie True Threat .
The movie follows Special Forces operative 'Vernon Threat' (Majors) 'as he embarks on a relentless quest for justice after his teenage son is murdered by a Harlem gang known as The Apollo Kids.
'Determined to take revenge, Threat infiltrates The Carter, a towering 20-story project building that serves as the gang's stronghold, battling his way to the top floor to confront their leader and his former mentor, 'Shallow.''
The movie is said to combine 'gripping action with deep themes of fatherhood, brotherhood, and community responsibility, True Threat promises to deliver a culturally urgent and relentlessly kinetic experience.'
True Threat is being produced by CAT5, the action-focused film label launched by Alexis Garcia last year with the backing of Fifth Season. CAT5's first release is the David Ayer-directed Working Man with Jason Statham will be released this weekend.
McMurray directs from a script he co-wrote with Hodge K. Johnson, and the movie is said to 'prominently feature 52 Blocks, a Black American martial arts style, making it the first major film to showcase the discipline.'
This new come shortly after it was announced that Majors would star in the revenge thriller Merciless, directed by Martin Villeneuve.
I'm surprised that Majors is making a comeback after being convicted of sexual assault. there are a lot of other people that have been blacklisted in Hollywood, who are still stuggling who weren't even convicted.

SPATE is normally a pretty good opening guess, but today it left me with all grey boxes and 375 remaining words. Thankfully, CHOIR slashed that down to just four. Unfortunately, my next guess was not the 1 in 4 it needed to be. LURID, however, did leave me with only one word: RIGID for the win! The Bot and I each get a whopping 0 points today for guessing in four and tying one another. Our August totals remain: Erik: -2 points Wordle Bot: 1 points The word "rigid" comes from Latin "rigidus", meaning "stiff" or "hard," which in turn derives from "rigēre", meaning "to be stiff or to be fixed." It entered English in the late 14th century, initially referring to physical stiffness, and later expanded to describe strictness or inflexibility in rules, behavior, or attitudes. Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' ex Gina Hyunh — who dropped out of his case as ‘Victim 3' — writes letter to judge pushing for his release

An ex-girlfriend of Sean 'Diddy' Combs who was supposed to testify against him in his criminal case, but mysteriously dropped out days before the trial began has written a letter to the judge pushing for Combs' release on bail. Virginia Huynh, who goes by 'Gina,' was part of the prosecution's case against Combs, initially anonymously referred to as 'Victim-3.' Before the trial began, prosecutors alerted the court they could no longer locate 'Victim-3' and they had lost touch with her and her attorney. Now, in their latest attempt to get Combs released on bail ahead of his sentencing, Combs' defense has included a letter from 'Victim-3,' who for the first time has identified herself by name. In the letter, Huynh wrote to the judge she does not believe Combs is a danger to the community and he is a committed family man 'who has not been violent in many years.' Huynh's letter was included as an exhibit in the defense's latest filing, their reply to the prosecution's opposition to releasing Combs on bail ahead of his sentencing, which is set for October 3. Combs was convicted by a jury last month on two charges of transpiration to engage in prostitution but acquitted on more serious charges which would have put him behind bars for decades or for life: racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking. In the letter, Huynh said she has known Combs for years, both professionally and personally. She acknowledged her relationship with the disgraced mogul 'was not always perfect,' but 'he was willing to acknowledge his mistakes and make betterdecisions in the future.' 'By the time our relationship ended, he embodied an energy of love, patience and gentleness that was markedly different from his past behavior. To my knowledge, he has not been violent for many years, and he has been committed to being a father first,' the letter stated. 'I am writing because I do not view Mr. Combs as a danger to me or to the community.' CNN has reached out to Huynh and to the US District Court for the Southern District of New York for comment. Combs' defense has asked the court to release him on bail on a $50 million bond. They have argued he is not a danger to the community and is not a flight risk. Last week, they also filed a motion, asking the judge to completely acquit him or give him a new trial, arguing he was unfairly prosecuted based on the Mann Act, calling his conviction 'unconstitutional.' 'This conviction stands alone, but it should not stand at all,' Combs' attorney Alexandra Shapiro wrote in the 62-page memorandum. Other witnesses in the case, including star witness, Cassie Ventura, previously wrote letters to the judge, pleading for him to remain incarcerated, telling the court they would fear for their safety if he were released from jail ahead of his sentencing. Combs was physically violent on numerous occasions with Ventura, and photographic and video evidence of her being assaulted was shown to the jury throughout the trial, including 2016 hotel surveillance footage of Combs beating Ventura, which was first released by CNN. In his decision to deny Combs bail immediately after the verdict, the judge cited Combs' admitted pattern of violence in his relationships.

Lee Vogler, Councilman Who Was Set on Fire in Broad Daylight, Described by Wife as 'a Fighter' as He Continues His Recovery

The Virginia elected official and father of two is in 'stable but critical condition,' with burns covering 'more than half' of his bodyNEED TO KNOW Lee Vogler, a councilman in Virginia, was doused with gasoline and set on fire outside of his workplace on July 29 He is in 'stable but critical condition' at a burn clinic, with burns covering 'more than half' of his body Lee's wife, Blair Vogler, said in a statement he underwent the first surgery of 'many' to come on Aug. 1Blair Vogler, the wife of Lee Vogler, is sharing an update on his condition after the Virginia elected official was set on fire in broad daylight. Lee, a four-term Danville city councilman and father of two, was doused with gasoline and set on fire outside his workplace at Showcase magazine on Tuesday, July 29, in a shocking broad-daylight attack. His alleged attacker, 29-year-old Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes, fled but was arrested shortly after, according to the Danville Police Department. Second-degree and third-degree burns now cover 'more than half' of Lee's body, and the 38-year-old is in 'stable but critical condition' at the UNC Chapel Hill Burn Clinic, according to a GoFundMe created for him and his family. 'He faces multiple surgeries, an extended hospital stay, and months—if not years—of rehabilitation,' the fundraiser states. On Aug. 1, Lee's wife revealed that the elected official was about to 'undergo the first of what will be many surgeries on his road to recovery' in a statement published by Showcase magazine. 'We are incredibly grateful for the exceptional team at UNC Chapel Hill. Their expertise, professionalism, and compassionate care have given us both comfort and confidence during this difficult time,' Blair said in the statement. She continued, 'We have full trust in the burn surgeons and the entire unit team, and we're thankful for the support we've received from friends, family, and the community. We would appreciate your continued prayers for Lee, our family and the medical team.' In a statement included in the GoFundMe — which, as of Aug. 3, has raised over half of its $100,000 goal — Blair said, 'Lee is a fighter. He has always faced challenges with courage, determination, and an unbreakable spirit.' The fundraiser also gives more insight into Lee's time as an elected official — and as a husband and dad. "For more than 13 years, Lee has served Danville as a dedicated city councilman, never missing a meeting and working tirelessly to revitalize the city he loves,' the fundraiser says. 'He is a father who coaches his children's sports teams, a husband who adores his family, and a friend who has always been there when others needed him.' Police responded to the July 29 attack after 11:30 a.m. local time following reports of a man on fire outside the offices of Showcase magazine on Main Street, according to the DPD. Witnesses said a man entered the building with a large bucket, poured gasoline on Lee and lit him on fire as he ran outside. Lee was treated at the scene and airlifted to a burn center. Andrew Brooks, who runs Showcase magazine, said that the councilman was 'awake, speaking, and en route to the center in Lynchburg" — and able to identify his attacker. Police later identified the suspect as Hayes and arrested him after he fled. Officials confirmed that Hayes and Lee knew each other, and that the incident stemmed from a personal, not political, matter. 'This was not a random act, nor was it politically motivated,' said the DPD in a statement. Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword
