The award nomination stated the following: 'Sheboygan County has consistently taken a proactive approach to emerging trends in preservation and demonstrates a willingness to evolve as new technologies and opportunities arise. Sheboygan County's success exemplifies leadership in transportation, making them a deserving candidate for this prestigious award. Their commitment to innovation, collaboration and education sets a high standard for other agencies.'
The county said preservation activities and improved infrastructure resilience received a significant boost from a sales tax enacted eight years ago that goes solely toward transportation.
Additionally, it said, 'Investments in cutting-edge equipment and regional partnerships have further extended the impact of these efforts.'
