Former India international Aditi Chauhan, who announced her retirement from football last week, was named the mentor of Warriorz FC — a side competing in the MFA (Mumbai Football Association) Women's Premier League.
Previously known as Rudra FC, the team was acquired by Capri Sports, and joins the Warriorz clan. First up on the agenda for the Warriorz FC will be to try and claim the coveted MFA Women's Premier League title, and then eventually earn promotion to the Indian Women's League.
'It is great to see big corporates like Capri Sports investing in women's football and taking ownership to create a better system for the players. I'm looking forward to sharing my experience and knowledge not just with the players but also the management, wherein we work towards holistic growth of everyone involved. Not just producing champions but also leaders of tomorrow,' said team mentor Aditi.
'Warriorz FC represents far more than just a football team for Capri Sports — it is a strategic opportunity to create meaningful, long-term impact on the women's football ecosystem in India. Driving that change begins at the grassroots, where foundational interventions are most critical. With Aditi Chauhan bringing her invaluable experience and expertise to the project, we believe we have all the right elements in place to build something truly transformative,' said Apurv Gupta, Director – Contact Sports, Capri Sports.

"No Tariffs Or Sanctions Can Halt...": Russia's History Lesson On US Threats

Moscow: Russia has accused the Donald Trump administration in the United States of pursuing a "neocolonial" policy against nations in Global South to maintain Washington's hegemony, and said no amount of tariffs and sanctions could change the "natural course of history." Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said that US was putting "politically motivated economic pressure" on nations who are choosing an independent course on the international stage, and expressed Moscow's willingness to boost cooperation with these countries to form a "truly multilateral" and equal world order. Remarks from Moscow came days after US President Donald Trump unveiled sweeping new tariffs on dozens of countries. Calling sanctions and restrictions a "regrettable reality" of today's historical stage that affects the entire world, Zakharova said that the US cannot come to terms with the "loss of hegemony in the emerging world order." 🎙 Russian MFA Spokeswoman Maria #Zakharova: Washington is unable to accept the erosion of its dominance in an emerging multipolar international order. ❗️ No tariff wars or sanctions can halt the natural course of history. — MFA Russia 🇷🇺 (@mfa_russia) August 4, 2025 "Sanctions and restrictions have unfortunately become a defining feature of the current historical period, impacting countries across the globe. Unable to accept the erosion of its dominance in an emerging multipolar international order, Washington continues to pursue a neocolonial agenda, employing politically motivated economic pressure against those who choose an independent course on the international stage," she said. Commenting on Trump's tariff policy against Russia's partners in the Global South, Zakharova called it a "direct encroachment" on the national sovereignty of nations and an "attempt to interfere in their internal affairs". "We firmly believe that no tariff wars or sanctions can halt the natural course of history. We are supported by a vast number of partners, like-minded states, and allies, particularly among the countries of the Global South and, above all, within BRICS, who share this perspective," Zakharova said, adding that Russia stands ready to deepen cooperation and resist the "unlawful unilateral sanctions." Zakharova was referring to the bloc originally comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, expanded in 2024 to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates, with Indonesia joining in 2025. She said that US policy is fraught with a slowdown in economic growth, damage to supply chains, and fragmentation of the global economy. "Contrary to the basic provisions in the area of free trade, which the Western countries themselves once promoted, there is politically motivated protectionism and voluntaristic build-up of tariff barriers," she added. Trump's Tariffs On India Donald Trump on Monday said it will "substantially raise" the tariff paid by India for buying "massive amounts of Russian Oil", stating that much of the oil purchased from Moscow is being sold in the open market "for big profits". In a strong worded reply, India reminded Washington that when it began importing from Russia after the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict, the US "actively encouraged such imports". It also countered the stance of the European Union for singling out Indian refiners over their exports of crude. The foreign ministry said that while India's imports are "a necessity compelled by the global market situation", the nations criticising it are themselves "indulging in trade with Russia" even when "such trade is not even a vital compulsion".

This is a positive move. Easing cross-border travel is widely beneficial. China will maintain communication and consultation with India to further facilitate travel between the two countries.' Why was the gap There's no denying that Asia's two most powerful nations and neighbours did not share a good relationship in the last five years due to diplomatic issues. It was a bad time for tourists as it was really difficult for Indian and Chinese travellers to explore or holiday in each other's nations. Apparently, the political tension between India and China escalated after the COVID-19 pandemic. Several acts of violence were reported between the two militaries after Chinese troops started marching. Soon after, India and China cancelled most visa services between them, including the tourist visas. It is definitely a positive move that will make travellers in both countries happy!

After 5 years, India to issue visas to Chinese tourists

India will start issuing tourist visas to Chinese nationals after a gap of five years, the Indian Embassy in Beijing announced on Wednesday. The announcement, that was called 'positive' by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, marks another step in normalising India-China ties ruptured by the military standoff at the Line of Actual Control and Galwan clashes in 2020. According to an official notice posted online and on Chinese social media, the visas can be applied for online beginning from Thursday and obtained after an appointment at the Indian Embassy in Beijing and consulates in Shanghai and Guangzhou. Amidst the bonhomie, Beijing rejected concerns in Delhi and Dhaka about China's latest dam project on the Yarlung Sangpo or Brahmaputra River in Tibet and said it had communicated with both the governments. Responding to a question about the visa issuance on Wednesday, a Chinese MFA spokesperson said that Beijing had taken note of the 'positive move'. 'Easing cross-border travel is widely beneficial. China will maintain communication and consultation with India to further facilitate travel between the two countries,' said spokesperson Guo Jiakun in Beijing. After the Covid pandemic and then violence between the two militaries after China amassed troops at the LAC, both countries had cancelled all flights and most visa services between them. China restored visa applications for Indian students in 2022 and for business and tourism purposes subsequently. It issued an estimated 85,000 visas between January and June 2025. India had issued visas in business and student categories, but not for tourism until now. According to the Ministry of Tourism figures in 2019, before the lockdown, more than 3,00,000 Chinese tourists had visited India and about 8,69,000 Indian tourists had gone to China. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Kazan last October and agreed to restore ties, a series of high-level meetings discussed the next steps, including the start of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra. Most recently, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar travelled to China on July 14-16, and met with his counterpart Wang Yi, and also called on Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice-President Hang Zheng, before attending the SCO Council for Foreign Ministers. In an interview to The Hindu, Chinese Ambassaor Xu Feihong said that resuming the Kailash pilgrimage was 'an important initiative taken by China to improve relations between the two countries', indicating that it was India's turn to take the next positive step. Both sides are also working on resuming direct flights between the two countries soon, understood to be announced before PM Modi's visit to China for the SCO summit, which is expected on August 31-September 1, officials said. When asked by reporters about the hydropower project being constructed on the Yarlung Sangpo, Mr. Guo said that it was 'fully within China's sovereignty'. 'China is engaged in cooperation with downstream countries on sharing hydrological data, flood prevention and disaster reduction,' he said, adding that Beijing has had the 'necessary communication' with India and Bangladesh. Construction for the massive 60,000 MW Medog Hydropower station, set to be the world's largest, began last week, and was flagged off by Chinese Premier Li Qiang. In a response in Parliament, the government had said that India had 'registered its concerns' with China over the ecological and disaster risks of the project in December 2024, while the Bangladesh's Ministry of Water Resources had also requested Beijing's response on its concerns in March this year.
