Ithra Opens Call For 7th Edition of Its Regional Art Prize
Submissions are now open for one of the Arab world's most generous art grants, with a USD 100,000 prize and production support. Submissions are now open for the seventh edition of the Ithra Art Prize, one of the Arab world's most generous awards for contemporary artists. Founded by the King Abdulaziz Centre for World Culture (Ithra) in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, the biennial prize awards USD 100,000 to a single artist, whose work will be added to Ithra's permanent collection. For the first time, five additional finalists will also receive production grants, with all six works to be presented in a group exhibition set for spring 2026. Open to artists of Arab heritage or those based in any of the 22 Arab countries, the prize welcomes both new commissions and reimagined existing works that reflect a sustained artistic practice rooted in research and critical inquiry. Submissions are open until October 16, 2025. Since launching in 2017, the Ithra Art Prize has grown into a regional platform for contemporary Arab art. Past winners—including Ayman Zedani, Daniah Al Saleh, and Obaid Alsafi—have leveraged the prize to expand their international presence. Previous winning works have also debuted at major cultural events such as Art Dubai, the Diriyah Biennale, and the AlUla Arts Festival.

4 Killed in Bangkok Food Market Shooting
Israa Farhan A deadly shooting at a popular food market in Bangkok left four security guards dead and one person injured on Monday, according to Thai police. The incident occurred at the Or Tor Kor market near the busy Chatuchak area, which is frequently crowded, especially on weekends. Police say the gunman opened fire before taking his own life. Deputy Chief of Bang Sue Police, Worapat Sookthai, confirmed the fatalities and stated that the motive is still under investigation. Authorities are working to identify the shooter and determine whether there is any link between the attack and ongoing border tensions between Thailand and Cambodia. Thailand has seen some gun-related incidents in recent years, largely due to relatively easy access to firearms across the country. While mass shootings are not a daily occurrence, they are not uncommon in Thailand's urban centers. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a full investigation into the background and potential motivations of the suspect. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence"
