Defence Minister Rajnath Singh interacts with NCC Mount Everest expedition team after their successful summit
He praised their courage, discipline, and the role of NCC in building national pride among young people.
During the interaction, Rajnath Singh said, 'I feel proud to be among the cadets who scaled the heights of Mount Everest. I congratulate the cadets and their families. NCC also deserves praise for deciding to send its cadets to this summit. This was also a test of your discipline and patience. I am confident that you will face all challenges in life with courage and win against them...NCC has successfully inculcated a sense of national pride in its cadets.'
Earlier on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth interacted with the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mount Everest Expedition team in New Delhi on Wednesday, after the team successfully scaled Mount Everest on May 18, 2025. During the interaction, the cadets shared their experiences from the expedition, highlighting the planning, training and challenges faced during the climb.
Sanjay Seth lauded the efforts and teamwork of the cadets for their incredible feat.
The feat marked the third successful Everest expedition by the NCC, following similar accomplishments in 2013 and 2016. The expedition team comprised ten cadets, five boys and five girls, with an average age of just 19 years, many of whom were novice climbers.
They were supported by a contingent of officers, junior commissioned officers, instructors and non-commissioned officers, making it a well-coordinated and professionally managed mission. The expedition was flagged off by Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh from New Delhi on April 03, 2025.
Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, on Tuesday, felicitated NCC cadets who successfully summited Mt Everest as part of the NCC's third Everest Expedition.
According to the Indian Air Force (IAF), ten cadets -- five boys and five girls -- reached the summit of Mt Everest on May 18. (ANI)

In 2021, 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain' (JSA: CTR) with the theme 'Catch the Rain - Where it Falls When it Falls' was launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister subsuming Catch the Rain (CTR) campaign to cover all the blocks of all districts (rural as well as urban areas) across the country. JSA: CTR has become an annual feature since 2021. C R Paatil, Minister, Jal Shakti, launched Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain - 2025 with the theme 'Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari - Jan Jagrukta Ki Or' on 22nd March 2025, World Water Day. It has been implemented from 22.03.2025 to 30.11.2025, emphasising deeper grassroots engagement, inter-sectoral convergence and innovative financing mechanisms with special focus on 148 districts identified by CGWB. Five focused interventions, like in the previous years, include (i) water conservation and rainwater harvesting; (ii) enumerating, geo-tagging & making inventory of all water bodies; preparation of scientific plans for water conservation based on it; (iii) setting up of Jal Shakti Kendras in all districts; (iv) Intensive afforestation; and (v) awareness generation. Aapda Mitra: 12-day training programme on Disaster Response begins
A 12-day training programme for 120 undergraduate students and NCC cadets on Disaster Response under the Aapda Mitra Scheme began at the BC Study Circle in Karimnagar on Thursday. The training programme, being organised by the Revenue (Disaster Management) Department, was inaugurated by Collector Pamela Satpathy, a press release said. It aims to impart requisite skills among the community volunteers to save lives during natural disasters and other emergency situations. The training will be imparted in a collaborative mode involving various government departments, including the State Disaster Response and Fire Services, Medical and Health departments. In the first phase, employees working in villages and towns, as well as volunteers from various walks of life, were trained.
