Syrian HTS Troops Mass Murder Civilians At Hospital In South

Gulf Insider17-07-2025
There is gruesome evidence emerging of mass atrocities in the southern Syrian province of Suwayda, where government soldiers under the Sharaa/Jolani regime have been conducing sectarian attacks on Druze and Christians, while seeking to get the etho-religions Druze community to lay down their weapons.
New disturbing images emerging Wednesday show dozens of dead civilians strewn about the floor at the National Hospital of Suwayda. The images seem authentic and verified, as Syria expert Joshua Landis of the University of Oklahoma has described that a regime soldier in the aftermath filmed the results of the massacre while proclaiming 'God is Great' and that there has been 'victory' over the Druze there.

Russia's RT News has also picked up on the footage, captioning the 'HORRIFIC images reportedly out of Suweida hospital in South Syria shows staff MASSACRED' for 'Suspected of being Druze' — as the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) describes.
Exact number of dead and wounded are unknown at this early point, but the hospital was under siege by the government forces of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). London-based SOHR writes:
SOHR sources denied a statement issued by the Information and Communication Department of the Ministry of Defence, which accused 'outlaw groups of taking the national hospital in Al-Suwaidaa as a starting point to launch their operations against the army and internal security forces.
SOHR warns of the continued siege of Al-Suwaidaa National hospital and targeting or storming it under flimsy pretexts.
Reliable SOHR sources confirmed that there are medical staff and patients only inside the national hospital in Al-Suwaidaa, without the presence of any armed manifestations.
The third floor of the hospital was also bombed by the Ministry of Defence forces, which besieged the hospital from all sides, putting it out of service. The hospital suffers from a blockade that prevents medical supplies from reaching it, further aggravating the situation.
It appears everyone in the hospital has been massacred. Sick and wounded patients were reportedly murdered in cold blood in their hospital beads.
Syrian government jihadists have massacred the entire Sweida National Hospital. Druze and Christian patients, doctors, nurses, women, children, and everyone taking shelter inside.I'm speechless. This is genocide.pic.twitter.com/n8r1sDyohU— Dr. Maalouf ‏ (@realMaalouf) July 16, 2025
HTS has just taken off the US-designated terrorism list earlier this month, after Trump had posed with its leader Sharaa (Jolani, who had earlier been a member of ISIS) while visiting Riyadh, expressing hope that he'll make for a good post-Assad ruler.
These US-backed jihadist thugs have also been attacking more churches in Syria's south…

Recall that Trump had gone so far as to praise al-Sharaa as a 'young, attractive guy' who has a 'real shot at doing a good job'. There was no mention at the time of protecting some of the world's most ancient churches and Syria's sizeable Christian community.
The fruit of that 'good job' thus far has been a genocidal campaign launched against Alawites near Latakia, Druze in the south – as is happening currently, as well as attacks on churches, including last month's suicide bombing of St. Elias Orthodox Church in Damascus, which left at least 25 people – including children – dead. A group affiliated with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham actually took responsibility.

US Will Engage Russia On Nuclear Disarmament Treaty, Trump Says

President Donald Trump on Friday responded to a question posed by a reporter for the Russian TASS agency during a press conference on the White House lawn regarding nuclear weapons. The US expects to formally engage with Russia soon on prospects for nuclear disarmament, Trump indicated, as the last remaining landmark nuclear arms control treaty between Washington and Moscow, known as New START, is in its last year. The full name is Measures for the Further Reduction and Limitation of Strategic Offensive Arms. 'That's not an agreement you want expiring. We're starting to work on that,' he told reporters outside the White House. It's expiring 'in about six months,' the TASS reporter had reminded Trump. 'It's a problem for the world,' the president said continued in reference to its upcoming expiration of early 2026. 'When you take off nuclear restrictions, that's a big problem.' He reiterated that he would like to see the US and Russia to cut their nuclear weapons stockpiles. Trump has since entering into office for his second term signaled repeatedly that this is an aim of his which would be good for the world and for humanity. In March 2021 the two sides renewed New START for a period of five years, and it will expire in February 2026 if it is not continued – an increasing possibility given US-Russia relations have deteriorated so fast over the Ukraine war that they hover near complete breaking point. Trump has made clear he wants to improve bilateral relations, despite also expressing frustration that peace talks haven't produced fruit thus far. There could even possibly be a future face-to-face meeting with President Putin. The New START treaty is intended to limit and reduce nuclear arms on either side, setting a limit of no more than 1,550 deployed warheads and 700 missiles. START I began in 1991, with New START signed under the prior Obama and Medvedev administrations in 2010 as a successor agreement. Trump's Friday remarks in response to a question on New START: Donald Trump: The imminent expiration of the New START treaty is a problem for the entire START is the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms. US Raid Takes Out Senior ISIS Leader In Northern Syria

It's 2025, a 'former' emissary of the Islamic State's top leadership is now president of Syria – who happens to also be the founder of al Qaeda in Syria (al-Nusrah Front, since rebranded the ruling Hayat Tahrir al-Sham/HTS) – and the United States is still claiming that its occupying forces are busy fighting ISIS across various parts of the country. US Central Command (CENTCOM) on Friday says a raid in the Aleppo region took out senior ISIS Leader Dhiya' Zawba Muslih al-Hardani and his two adult ISIS-affiliated sons, Abdallah Dhiya al-Hardani and Abd al-Rahman Dhiya Zawba al-Hardani. It happened in the early morning hours in al-Bab, Aleppo Governate, as the ISIS individuals were described as posing a threat to 'US and Coalition Forces, as well as the new Syrian Government.' The announcement also mentioned the presence of civilians at the location of the raid. The statement indicated that 'Three women and three children were also on the target and were unharmed.' Turkey Commits Military Support To 'New' Post-Assad Syria With Saudis Pledging $4BN In Investment

Turkey and Saudi Arabia have indicated this week they are preparing to ramp up their investment and military support to post-Assad Syria, which is under the new regime of President al-Sharaa and his Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (rebranded Syrian al-Qaeda). These very countries helped spearhead the effort alongside US intelligence to remove Assad – who fled the country on December 8. Turkey's Defense Ministry announced on Wednesday that it will provide military assistance to Syria to help 'combat terrorism'. But the reality is that Turkey had long opened a 'jihadi highway' throughout years of the Syrian proxy war which helped cement the rise of ISIS and Syria becoming a hotbed of foreign fighters. Turkey claims Damascus is requesting urgent security assistance. 'In response to this request, we are continuing our efforts to offer training, consulting, and technical assistance to enhance Syria's defense capacity,' a Turkish defense official said. Ankara says its main objective is to uphold Syria's political unity and territorial integrity and to spearhead efforts toward long-lasting peace in the region. But the reality is that Turkey and Israel are in effect dividing of the spoils of post-Assad Syria, and Israel has been signaling its 'red line' over and against Turkish aims. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has recently pledged that Turkey's military will 'not allow terrorists to drag Syria back into chaos and instability.' Turkey has long occupied portions of northern Syria, precisely where terrorists have operated and conducted mass killings – particularly targeting Kurds and minority groups like Christians and Alawites. Regarding recent sectarian killings and unrest in Suwayda province and Israel's intensified strikes on Damascus, Turkish officials warned that these actions have exacerbated tensions between Druze groups and the Syrian government. But it is the HTS Syrian government which have committed the bulk of atrocities carried out against Druze civilians and even clerics. In the north, there's currently a deal underway for the Kurdish YPG – affiliated with the outlawed PKK – to lay down its arms, which it has been resistant to. At the same time there's a Pentagon presence in northern Syria and in the east, and the occupation shows no signs of withdrawing. Saudi Arabia too is eyeing greater participation in the supposedly 'new Syria' – now that Assad has exited: Saudi Arabia's investment minister led a business delegation travelling to Syria on Wednesday, where they were expected to sign deals worth around $4 billion as part of Riyadh's efforts to support the country's post-war recovery. The Gulf kingdom has been a crucial supporter of interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa's government, which came to power after toppling longtime ruler Bashar al-Assad in December and is now seeking to rebuild Syria after a 14-year civil war. Of course, this was largely the plan all along – for regional powers to 'divide and rule' Syria, after it was brought to its knees after years of proxy war and unprecedented US-led sanctions. Meanwhile the US promptly removed these posters… From a US and Israeli perspective, this was to break the so-called 'Iran/Shia axis' in the region which heavily supported Lebanese Hezbollah. The CIA dubbed this operation 'Timber Sycamore' – according to earlier confirmation in The New York Times and others.
