Brad Pitt has made a thunderous return to the cinema with his new sports drama F1 The Movie. Directed by Joseph Kosinski, best known for directing Top Gun: Maverick, the film has earned a total of Rs 24.65 crore net within just four days of its release. F1 has been released in the country in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
According to Sacnilk, F1 earned an impressive Rs 3 crore on Monday, June 30, alone, showing only a slight drop from its opening-day collection of Rs 5.5 crore. This is a positive sign that people are enjoying Brad Pitt's new sports drama, based on Formula One racing. What's even more impressive is that F1 is a standalone film and not part of any series or franchise, unlike many Hollywood movies that do well in India. It is an original story, which is competing strongly against new Bollywood releases like Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par and Kajol's Maa.
People have been loving the movie in IMAX, which is also giving it a boost for the second weekend. If it keeps going like this, F1 might soon cross the Rs 60 crore, just like Final Destination: Bloodlines did. And globally, experts believe that the movie has a possibility of crossing $500 million and more if the upcoming releases, such as Superman and Jurassic World Rebirth, do not perform as well as expected.
Besides Brad Pitt, F1 The Movie also features Javier Bardem, Damson Idris, Tobias Menzeles and Kerry Condon in key supporting roles. The racing drama follows the story of Sonny Hayes (Pitt), a New York City-based Formula One driver who left racing following a horrible crash. After his forced retirement from Formula One, he started racing in other disciplines and working as a taxi driver. Decades later, he returns to the high-stakes world of racing with only one wish to prove himself again.
He is brought back to Formula One by his friend and former teammate, Ruben Cervantes, played by Javier Bardem, to train his team. Sonny is tasked with training a rookie driver, Joshua Pierce, played by Damson Idris. In addition to the lead cast, the film will also feature professional F1 drivers such as Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Sergio Perez, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, among others. Released on June 27, F1 is running in theatres.

Indian all-rounder Musheer Khan produces an incredible showing for Mumbai's development side against Nottinghamshire's second XI in the MCA's Emerging Players tour of the UK. Musheer, younger brother of Sarfaraz Khan, made a brilliant 123 off 149 deliveries to help Mumbai to a total of 448 runs, before claiming a six-wicket haul with his crafty left-arm spin. Shaariq Sheikh dismissed the young Indian following his century, while the Indian side also had a ton coming from Manan Bhatt. Musheer's efforts with the ball bundled out the home side for a first innings score of 210 before being asked to follow on by the touring side. Nottingham concluded Day 2 of the game at 90/3 in the second innings, leaving the side with a mountain to climb. Musheer, who eclipsed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar's record to become the youngest Mumbai batter to register a ton in the final of the Ranji Trophy last year to help his side clinch their 42nd title in the prestigious tournament, was sideline for a prolonged period following a car crash in September last year, but has recovered well to get back to his best as evidenced by his showing against the English county's second string side. Ex-India Batter Urges Shubman Gill And Co To Drop Mohammed Siraj For 2nd Test And Play...

Former Indian cricket team batter Sanjay Manjrekar asked the team management to play either Prasidh Krishna or Mohammed Siraj in the second Test match against England. In the first match, both Prasidh and Siraj struggled to take wickets with Jasprit Bumrah being the most successful pacer for the side. However, with the star pacer potentially out of the match at Edgbaston, Manjrekar urged Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir to take tough calls when it comes to selection. He added that Prasidh looked more like the 'go-to bowler' and that is the reason why he would prefer him over Siraj. "(Siraj or Krishna?) This is where you've got to take some hard calls. It's easier for me because Siraj is your senior bowler. He bowled his heart out and he had one good spell at Headingley, plus he's got a body of work, but you've got to look at current reality,' Manjrekar said on ESPNCricinfo. 'I thought towards the end of the Test match, Prasidh Krishna looked more like a go-to bowler for Shubman Gill to get wickets. So, based on that, I might go with Prasidh Krishna. Will be a hard call, but it's just based on the current form of Mohammed Siraj compared to Prasidh Krishna and find a way for him to be a little more economical,' he added. There has also been a lot of chatter over Kuldeep Yadav potentially playing the second Test and Manjrekar said that the team management should not just play seamers because English pitches traditionally favour them. He added that Nitish Kumar Reddy should play in place of Shardul Thakur. "Not play seamers just because you are in a country where seam works. So, I would drop a seamer and get Kuldeep Yadav in and Nitish Reddy in place of Shardul Thakur.'

Sanju Samson earns four times more than MS Dhoni in IPL, here's a look at RR skipper's paycheck

Sanju Samson with MS Dhoni. New Delhi: Sanju Samson leaving Rajasthan Royals (RR) to join Chennai Super Kings (CSK) might be a possibility in time before the IPL 2026. People have been talking about Samson leaving RR and it may be true. According to a recent report CSK is very much eager to have him. There are other franchises as well, besides CSK, which are interested in buying the current RR captain as reportedly. But there is no clarification as to whether Samson himself is contemplating on quitting the franchise. Rajasthan Royals nurtured Samson themselves and found the player in 2013. They gave him his initial IPL contract and as they say, the rest became history. His stupendous performances with RR quickly helped him into his subsequent call-up by India on the England tour to play the white-ball series the other year. He later got his international debut versus Zimbabwe in 2015. Rajasthan Royals bought Sanju Samson back in IPL 2018 mega-auction, and he has since then been an important member of the team. Before the IPL 2025 mega-auction, RR retained Samson to secure the services of the star batter and captain at the hefty price of Rs 18 crore. If Chennai Super Kings (CSK) intend to sign Sanju Samson, they will need to spend at least ₹18 crore or more to secure his services. Should the move happen, Samson is likely to be groomed as the long-term successor to MS Dhoni at the helm of the franchise. Samson earns four times more than Dhoni Sanju Samson now earns four times in the IPL compared to MS Dhoni. Dhoni has not participated in international cricket in more than five years and therefore he has been added to the category of uncapped players before the IPL 2025 mega-auction. This enabled Chennai Super Kings to have their iconic captain back at only Rs4 crores under uncapped player category. The IPL 2022, 2023, and 2024 seasons paid the salary of 12 crores to MS Dhoni. But before IPL 2025, the India icon was ready to be retained at a price of only 4 crores. As Dhoni may play in only one or two more seasons of IPL, it seems that CSK have already started thinking about future, including a prospective long-term replacement, with Sanju Samson rising among candidates.
