Five places for Wrexham AFC fans to visit out in Sydney
Joe Faux, a summer addition made by the Silkmen - managed by former Reds' player Lee Fowler - is a Sydneysider and he has provided supporters Down Under with his list of five places to visit while in the city. Wrexham opened their pre-season tour with a match against Melbourne Victory on Saturday and they will next come up against Sydney FC on Tuesday. Reds' fans in Sydney looking for something to do during the build-up to the game have plenty of things they can do! Faux said: "I would definitely go to Circular Quay and walk around the opera house and harbour bridge. "You can do a ferry from there as well under the bridge or around to Manly, which is another nice area in the north shore." Continuing his tour, Faux said: "I would do the coastal walk from Coogee to Bondi and stop at each beach along there for a swim or to eat or drink, or whatever you feel like." Stop three on Faux's tour of his home city is somewhere for people to get a sense of Sydney. "Go to the Queen Victoria Building (QVB) in the middle of the city to shop or walk around and get a sense of the city." Fans are well covered when it comes to bar and restaurants too. "Darling Harbour and Barangaroo is also a nice spot. Lot of good bars and restaurants there for a night out and it's a nice walk. They have a zoo and aquarium there as well," added Faux. Concluding the tips, he added: "Last one is the botanic gardens, right next to the opera house. "Get great views from the harbour and again, it's a nice park to walk, few little animals and greenery in there as well." Faux, whose parents are going to the game to support the home club on Tuesday, also played locally for Cefn Druids and Connah's Quay Nomads. The 28-year-old tricky wide player started out with Bolton Wanderers U23s and he first entered the Welsh system in the summer of 2019.

Wrexham kick off pre-season tour with win over Melbourne
The Reds are touring Australia and New Zealand for the very first time and the opening game of the trip ended with a 3-0 win over Melbourne Victory. Just over 37,000 fans were at Marvel Stadium to see Wrexham get a good work out against the A-League side and elements of the performance were also pleasing. Parkinson named a different side for each half and Wrexham ran out comfortable winners with Tom O'Connor opening the scoring just before the break before new signing Ryan Hardie, with his first goal for the club, and George Evans struck in the second period. Wrexham, fresh from securing an historic third successive promotion, are preparing for the new Championship campaign and even though it's still early in the build-up, Parkinson was happy with what he saw in the first friendly. "It was a good work-out for us," Parkinson told the club's YouTube channel. "Forty-five minutes for all the players so I am pleased. "Melbourne have had a shorter break than we have, it has been a long time since we had a game. "Training has been good considering the travelling this week, I was pleased the way we approached the game and it's a good start to our tour. "The physical element is absolutely key at this stage. "Forty-five minutes for the first team and then they did some work on the pitch afterwards, and likewise for the second group. "I haven't seen the numbers yet of the physical output, we will have a look at that, but my eye tells me that we got a decent work-out. "Some good football, a little bit rusty in certain areas as you would expect but pleased with the goals and it is always nice to win. "Everyone says results aren't that important in pre-season but when you get a win, it is still good." Elliot Lee saw a first minute shot saved by Melbourne keeper Jack Duncan while Arthur Okonkwo did well to deny Clarismario Santos at the other end and Nikos Vergos couldn't keep his effort down from a good position. Wrexham striker Jack Marriott was put through but failed to hit the target and after Okonkwo pulled off another save to deny Zinedine Machach, Dan Scarr's looping header from Matty James' corner was tipped over by Duncan. Sebastian Revan's volley found the side-netting and Max Cleworth's acrobatic effort was tipped over by Duncan but the goal Wrexham had been threatening came in the 43rd minute. Ollie Palmer's cross was punched away by Duncan as far as O'Connor who fired home. It was all change for the second half and although Louis D'Arrigo struck the bar immediately after the restart for Melbourne, it was all Wrexham after that. Harry Ashfield headed against the bar but the Reds made it 2-0 on 66 minutes. Ryan Barnett sent in a low cross from the right which was turned home from close range by Hardie. Wrexham kept probing with Ashfield, James McClean and Barnett all trying their luck before the third goal arrived after 78 minutes. Hardie's shot was blocked by a defender, the ball came out to Evans whose drive found the back of the net when the goalkeeper should have done better. Lewis Brunt came close late on and Wrexham sealed a convincing win. Wrexham first half (3-5-2): Oknonkwo; Cleworth, Scarr, O'Connor; Longman, Dobson, Matty James, Lee, Revan; Marriott, Palmer. Wrexham second half (3-5-2): Ward; A James, O'Connell, Brunt; Barnett, Rathbone, Evans, McClean, Mendy; Ashfield, Hardie (Edwards 87).

Wrexham's Hollywood owners absent as they start tour Down Under with victory
Wrexham opened their pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand with a comfortable 3-0 win over A-League side Melbourne Victory in the absence of their Hollywood co-owners. The Welsh side will be playing three games during the tour, but co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney did not travel with the team. After recent pre-season tours to the United States, Wrexham have travelled Down Under to spread the club's global footprint which has been enhanced by the popular Welcome to Wrexham fly-on-the-wall TV documentary. Midfielder Tom O'Connor opened the scoring for Wrexham in the 42nd minute, with Ryan Hardie and George Evans adding goals in the second half. Scottish striker Hardie, signed from Plymouth Argyle for the Red Dragons' long-awaited return to English football's second tier, was in place to poke home from close range after being introduced as a substitute at halftime. Evans ended the scoring when his long-range shot squeezed under Victory substitute goalkeeper Daniel Graskoski. The Wrexham squad are using the visit to prepare for a first season in 43 years in the Championship (the second tier), having just secured a third straight promotion. The major reason for making the 16,000-kilometre (10,000-mile) trip to Australia is McElhenney, who recently changed his name to Rob Mac. He previously said that Australia is the third-biggest audience for the Welcome to Wrexham series after the United States and Britain. 'We're not here on a holiday,' Wrexham captain James McClean, who played 103 times for Ireland, said after the team arrived. 'It's great to come and see new things, new experiences but we're here to work, we're here to prepare for the new season. It's going to be the toughest challenge yet, by far.' Wrexham plays again next Tuesday against Sydney FC in Sydney and on 19 July against the Wellington Phoenix in the New Zealand capital.
