Deestriders have been blitz-ing it in parkrun efforts
A number of Wrexham members headed to Cardiff to compete at the Welsh senior and U17s track and field championships. There were a trio of podium spots achieved by Annabelle Jones in the U17 women's class. She was second in the javelin with her effort of 31.40-metres, and third in both the shot and discus, both with personal bests. Her best effort in the shot was 9.39-metres and she achieved 31.07-metres in the discus. A season's best of 5.20-metres ensured Thomas Walley was the runner-up in the senior men's pole vault. Evan Williams clocked 11.16 in his 100m heat, while respective 200m and 400m heat times for Oliver Edwards were 23.71 and 52.31. Freddie Cunningham achieved two personal bests at the U13/U15 youth development league meet at Eccles. He won the U15 boys' high jump with 1.55m and clocked 13.3 in the 100m. A number of Wrexham athletes picked up prizes at the Tilston 10k. They went to first M50 Darren Rowlands (sixth in 36.39), first W50 Amanda Bailey (29th in 44.14) and second U20 Harry Simcock (30th in 44.16). Runner-up James Roberts (34.35) was the first Wrexham AAC finisher and he was followed by Andrew Jones (eighth in 37.50), Nick Jones (15th in 40.49), Ryan Davis (26th in 43.57), Karl Moore (117th in 60.12), Jennifer Moss (123rd in 62.49) and Charles Ashley (126th in 64.06). Deestriders have headed back into the past for the latest series event. Round three of the club's parkrun blitz featured its main event at new course Parkrun in the Past, Hope. There was a close battle between leading Deestriders trio Paul Lyth (22.00), David Temple (22.15) and Tony Woodall (22.20). They were followed by Graham Bryan (23.45), Fred Aird (23.47), Paul Lewtey (23.57), Jay Jennions (24.24), Kev Burns (26.48), Rhian Lloyd (27.38) and Amanda Scotter (27.54). Other Deestriders running in the race were Martin Witty (28.22), Mike Norris (29.39), Andy Wainwright (30.07), Claire Harper (30.32), Lindsey McElmeel (31.48), Stuart Brown (33.17), Darren Low (35.20), Sue Witty (40.30), Fiona Robinson (40.54) and Helen Campbell (56.27). A number of other parkruns were tackled by Deestriders, with Max Dowell clocking 20.15 ar Chester and Julian Freeman crossed the line in 22.17 at Corby. Over at Newborough, Dafydd Morris achieved 31.47 and Bernice Matthews completed the Peel parkrun in a time of 29.32. Two Deestriders competed at Prestatyn and they were Donna Griffiths (26.32) and Sid Bailey (47.39). Tomas Kuzmicius (26.43) and Andy Swain (28.12) were in action at Wepre, while Karen Waugh (41.47) took on the Weymouth parkrun. There were two Wrexham AAC athletes in the top-five at the most recent Erddig parkrun. Robert Miles was third in 20.03, with Daniel Weston crossing the line fifth in 20.29. Also taking part at Erddig were Wrecsam Tri's Andy Bennion (26th in 24.40), Alison Edwards (213th in 38.13) and Anna John (276th in 52.26). A quintet of Deestriders tackled the Nant Gain fell race, in Cilcain. They were led by Michelle Bowes (55.11), followed by Paul Lewtey (59.07), Fred Aird (59.35), Jo Houghton-Davies (60.13) and Joe Blackwell (62.34).

Wrexham athlete Spencer is UK and Welsh record-breaker
Swansea hosted to the Welsh Junior Championships and three Wrexham AAC members were in action at the event. Jones won the U13 boys' 1k walk in a time of 4-44.48, which is a new UK and Welsh record. He also became the Welsh javelin champion for his age group thanks to an effort of 31.58-metres, while he was second in the shot put with 7.88-metres. Over in the U15 boys' class, Tomasi Fidow was runner-up in the shot put with 10.24m, while he achieved fourth spot in the discus with 21.50m. Annabelle Jones competed in the U20 women's section, where she was seventh in the javelin (25.19m) and discus (28.46m). At the Trafford AC grand prix, a personal best of 8-39.17 saw Connor Rogers cross the line fourth in the senior men's 3000-metres. A trio of Wrexham athletes tackled the Colshaw 10k, in Knutsford, spear-headed by Daniel Weston (44th in 33.44). Second M55 Darren Rowlands finished 88th in 35.53, while a time of 49.32 saw Beth Hewitt in 535th. Deestriders were also well represented at the race, led by personal bests from Max Dowell (37.12) and Chris Preston (44.27). They were followed by Andy Billington (44.30), Paul Lewtey (45.15), Christine Cammillare (46.43), Steph Salusbury (49.54), Justin Evans (52.28) and Jenny Lewtey-Jones (58.19). Wrexham's Amanda Bailey (78th in 44.40) took the first W50 prize at the Barmouth 10k. Connor Rogers (46th in 41.57) donned the first Wrexham AAC vest to cross the finishing line and he was followed by Charlie Sinclair (259th in 46.51), Tamara Goode (391st in 58.54) and Mark Hughes (702nd in 72.25). Deestrider David Temple completed the 10k in a good time of 48.16. Christine Cammillare (54.48) was the first of a trio of Deestriders at Hotfoot Up Famau. She was followed by Nige Parr (57.35) and Paul Lewtey (58.09). Wrexham AAC racers made their mark in parkrun action. James Yarwood clocked 17.19 for second place at Nova Prestatyn, while there was a Wrexham one-two at Erddig. A time of 18.58 ensured victory for Ally Hughes, ahead of runner-up Daniel Weston (19.11). Other lofty finishes were achieved by Andy Jones (fifth in 19.38) and Nick Jones (10th in 22.15), while they were joined at the race by clubmates Grace Hughes (36th in 24.43), Evie Hughes (40th in 25.06), Rhys Hatfield (47th in 26.01), Megan Hatfield (52nd in 26.19), Karl Moore (101st in 30.47), Phil Walker (121st in 32.24) and John Tipping (223rd and 61.51). Wrexham's Andrew Bennett (35th in 24.31), Peter Hughes (57th in 25.53) and Alan Williams (129th in 31.33) tackled the Parkrun in the Past event, while Mike Robbins (20th in 25.17) raced at Wepre. Charles Ashley (52nd in 28.27) and Alexis Baty (89th in 39.29) raced the Llangollen event.

Wrexham athletes have impressed during parkrun events
Fourth-placed finishes were achieved by Connor Rogers (21.45) and Ellis Jones (9.05) at the Llangollen and Alyn Waters junior events respectively. Evelyn Roberts (14th in 10.48) was the other Wrexham racer at Alyn Waters, with Charles Ashley (28th in 29.13), Peter Howell (60th in 34.43) and Alexis Baty (64th in 39.31) also tackling the Llangollen race. Rachel N Reeves (214th in 50.33) competed at Prestatyn Nova and Mike Robbins (23rd in 25.42) took on the Wepre race, while Steffan Thomas (49th in 24.41) and Gruffydd Thomas (50th in 24.42) had a great battle at the Park in the Past event. They were joined at the race by Deiniol Thomas (124th in 30.16). Jonny Hudson (12th in 22.37), Rhys Hatfield (35th in 25.51) and Megan Hatfield (42nd in 26.15) were the leading Wrexham AAC finishers at Erddig. They were followed by Peter Hughes (44th in 26.31), Karl Moore (80th in 30.10) and John Tipping (179th in 58.49). Deestriders are organising a series of off-road four-mile multi-terrain races from Rowleys Drive, Shotton on Thursday, July 3 (7.30pm start), Thursday, August 7 (7.30pm), and Friday, September 6 (7pm).

Age no barrier to success for wonderful Wrexham athletes
The Cheshire track and field grand prix was held at Macclesfield and the event welcomed six Wrexham AAC members. In the spotlight was Robin Frost, who achieved a new personal best and club record of 20.14m to win the M80 javelin. He also triumphed in the hammer with 15.81 metres. In the M75 section, Paul Brooks won the javelin with a personal best of 12.43 metres and he launched the hammer 15.30 metres for second place. Annabelle Jones (29.38m) and Isabelle Bennett (24.65m) were second and third respectively in the U17 women's javelin, while Spencer Jones (29.77m) took first place in the U13 boys' javelin. A personal best of 1.25m also saw him fourth in the high jump. Competing in the U11 boys' class was Ellis Jones, in the 75m (12.97), 600m (2-22.04), long jump (2.55m) and javelin (14.74m). Thomas Walley produced at effort of 5.11m to claim pole vault victory at Vault Manchester. Top displays also came in the Trafford AC open. Tomasi Fidow produced a personal best of 10.86m to win the U15 boys' shot put and he was second in the discus (22.54m). Tegan Graham supplied a personal best of 23.12m to triumph in the U13 girls' javelin and there was a season's best of 52.04 from Oliver Edwards in the senior men's 400m. At the UK youth development league meeting in Deeside, Lasitha Ekanayake represented the North Wales team and he clocked 12.10 to win the U17 men's B 100-metres. A busy spell saw Evan Williams achieve 100m times of 11.28 and 11.52 at Cardiff's Run With the Wind and the Avon Championships, the latter securing second place. Tenth-placed Connor Rogers (14.38) was the first Wrexham AAC finisher at the Mid Cheshire 5k. He was followed by James Yarwood (200th in 16.28), Gareth Chaloner (543rd in 18.51), Richard Westwood (709th in 21.08) and Mark Hughes (809th in 26.03). Wrexham competitors at the Newtown 10k were Richard Westwood (166th in 46.13), Andy Bennett (236th in 49.48) and Tamara Goode (428th in 57.56), while Evie Hughes (57th in 51.28) took part in the Moel y Gest fell race. There were Deestriders' age group victories in the Mynydd Myfyr trail race for V40 Christine Cammillare (31.50) and V45 Paul Lewtey (32.32). David Temple completed the course in 36.33, while Wrexham's Charles Ashley was 48th in 40.26. Parkruns have again proved popular for Wrexham athletes. Rachel N Reeves (440th in 50.52) raced the Isabel trail event, Connor Rogers (13th in 21.12) was at Abermaw and Philip Walker (272nd in 30.07) competed at Weymouth. Four members took on the Park in the Past parkrun, spear-headed by Steffan Thomas (78th in 24.40). He was followed by Senna Thomas (124th in 26.21), Deiniol Thomas (125th in 26.26) and Gruffudd Thomas (214th in 29.51). Top-three finishers at Wepre were runner-up George Hughes (22.06) and Ally Hughes (22.06), while they were joined by clubmates Grace Hughes (15th in 24.47), Mike Robbins (19th in 25.26) and Evie Hughes (21st in 25.34). The leading Wrexham AAC finisher at Erddig was Nick Jones (13th in 22.09) and he was followed by Amanda Bailey (21st in 23.23), Ian Grimshaw (31st in 24.21), Peter Hughes (48th in 25.42), Karl Moore (116th in 30.27), John Tipping (260th in 58.05) and Lucy Morris (261st in 58.14). Competing at Llangollen were Tony Forster (34th in 26.52), Charles Ashley (49th in 28.32), Alexis Baty (94th in 47.51) and Peter Howell (95th in 47.52), while Evelyn Roberts (21st in 10.55) and Tomos Marriott (25th in 11.14) ran the Alyn Waters junior parkrun.
