CPF extends Great Eastern Life's Dependants' Protection Scheme administrator contract for three years until September 2028
[SINGAPORE] Great Eastern will continue to administer the Dependants' Protection Scheme (DPS) for another three years as the Central Provident Fund (CPF) Board has extended its administrator contract until September 2028.
The extended contract period will start from Oct 1, 2025, until Sep 30, 2028. The insurer began administering the DPS as its single insurer from Apr 1, 2021, after it was awarded a five-year contract on Oct 1, 2020, said the CPF Board on Monday (May 26).
The DPS is a term-life insurance scheme that provides insured members and their families with a cash payment to tide them through the first few years following the untimely death of an insured member, or if he or she should suffer terminal illness or total permanent disability.
It currently covers more than two million Singaporeans and permanent residents, the CPF Board said.
Insured members up to the age of 60 are covered for a maximum assured sum of S$70,000, while members above the age of 60 up to the age of 65 are covered for a maximum assured sum of S$55,000.
Singapore citizens or permanent residents between the ages of 21 and 65 automatically have DPS coverage upon making a valid CPF working contribution, while CPF members between the ages of 16 and 65 who have not been automatically covered can apply directly to Great Eastern to join the DPS.
Members with existing DPS coverage do not need to take action as their covers are automatically renewed on an annual basis before their 65th birthday, with no change to their premiums.

300,000 S'poreans from Pioneer Generation to receive up to $1,200 in MediSave top-ups in July
Around 300,000 Singaporeans from the Pioneer Generation will receive MediSave top-ups ranging from $300 to $1,200 in July. This will amount to over $160 million in total, said the Ministry of Finance (MOF) in a statement on June 16. The 2025 top-up amount is higher than the $250 to $900 they received in 2024, following a review of MediShield Life, added the ministry. These top-ups can be used to pay the premiums for MediShield Life, CareShield Life, ElderShield and other MediSave-approved insurance plans, as well as medical expenses such as hospitalisation, day surgical procedures and selected outpatient treatments. The top-ups will be given on top of the annual GST vouchers for Singaporeans aged 65 and above. Singaporeans born between 1945 and 1949 will get $300, and those born between 1940 and 1944 will get $500. Those born between 1935 and 1939 will receive $700, and those born in 1934 or earlier will get $1,200. Furthermore, older Pioneers born in 1939 and earlier who have serious pre-existing conditions will receive further top-ups of $50 or $200 to help pay their higher MediSave Life premiums. Pioneers who were born earlier can expect larger MediSave top-up amounts as they typically have less savings than younger members of the Pioneer Generation, MOF said, adding that they may need more help with their annual MediShield Life premiums. The top-up will automatically be credited to eligible Pioneers' CPF MediSave Accounts. The Pioneer Generation Package was introduced in 2014 to honour and thank this group of Singaporeans for their contributions during the country's early years. MOF assured that older pioneers aged 91 and above will also continue to see their MediShield Life premiums fully covered, while younger pioneers will have about two-thirds of their premiums covered. Pioneers who have registered their mobile numbers with Singpass before June 2 will receive an SMS by June 18 notifying them of the top-up amount they are eligible for. The rest of the Pioneers will receive notification letters by end-June. To guard against scams, the SMS will inform seniors only of their benefits and will not ask for a reply or any information. Cashback for purchases via DBS PayLah at hawker stalls and heartland shops returns from July 12, Lifestyle News
Singaporeans and residents can once again enjoy cashback at hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops when using the DBS PayLah app to scan and pay for their purchases. The offer will run every Saturday from July 12 till Sept 27 and is part of the DBS/POSB's efforts to commemorate Singapore's 60th birthday, it said in a statement on Sunday (June 29). The first 160,000 people to use PayLah when paying at more than 22,000 participating hawker stalls, wet markets and heartland shops are set to enjoy up to $3 cashback. A POSB Support Our Heartland Shops wobbler — a round tag attached to a strip — will be displayed at participating shops and stalls while hawker stalls that are SGQR-code enabled will display the PayLah Scan to Pay sticker. Over the next three months, the bank will offer some two million cashback rewards that Singaporeans and residents can redeem for their purchases in the heartlands via the app. Furthermore, participating food and beverage outlets will offer 60-cent meal deals in a promotion running from July 1 to Sept 30.
