
N.S. man, 18, two youths accused of breaking into Beaver Bank home, stealing firearms
The RCMP responded to a report of a break-in at a home on Barrett Road around 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Police say they used drones to locate and arrest three people in the woods nearby.
Police recovered six firearms they say were taken from the home and executed search warrants at a residence and vehicle associated to the people arrested.
Carter Wright Neal, 18, of Beaver Bank is facing 18 charges, including the following:
two counts of careless use of a firearm
two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
six counts of possession of property obtained by crime
Neal appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on Saturday.
Two youths were released on conditions pending future court appearances.
Incident prompts firearms investigation
Meanwhile, a second investigation is underway after the RCMP says officers found multiple firearms unsecured and unsafely stored inside the home on Barrett Road.
Police say the officers seized 28 firearms from the home.
Both investigations are ongoing with support from Forensic Identification Services and the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team.

Woman, 60, dies in crash in Dixon Point, N.B.: RCMP

Richibucto RCMP said officers responded to the two-vehicle crash Friday around 1:15 p.m. It happened on Route 535. Police said the collision is believed to have occurred when a motorcycle travelling northbound crossed the centre line and struck the oncoming car. The motorcyclist, a 60-year-old Dixon Point woman, died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver of the car was transported to hospital with what are believed to be non-life-threatening injuries. Route 535 was shut down for several hours while police investigated. Members of the Bouctouche Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, and the New Brunswick Coroner's Office attended the scene. RCMP said the investigation is ongoing. SIU investigating after man found dead during police standoff in Hamilton

THE CANADIAN PRESS/Arlyn McAdorey The province's police watchdog is investigating after they say a 62-year-old man was found dead during a prolonged standoff with police in Hamilton. In a news release, investigators say the incident began at around 7:30 a.m. on August 1, when a man in crisis called police claiming he had explosives and demanded a negotiator to come to the residence. Police say the call came from a home near Barton Street East and Sherman Avenue North. Police say they contained the area and negotiated with the barricaded man throughout the day. 'In the late afternoon, a drone was sent into the residence. It revealed the man lying on the floor, with blood visible around him,' officials wrote. 'The man was pronounced deceased.' The SIU has assigned two investigators and two forensic specialists to the case. Anyone with information is urged to contact the lead SIU investigator at 1-800-787-8529.
