Siraj opened his wicket account on Friday getting England's stand-in captain Ollie Pope out in the second session. The right-handed batter was trapped in front of the wickets for 22 runs from 44 balls. Joe Root was the next English batter who was sent back to the pavilion by Siraj. Siraj wrapped up England's first innings by breaching Harry Brook's defence on the second ball of the 52nd over. Brook scored 53 runs from 64 balls.

With 18 wickets in eight innings of five matches, Siraj is the highest wicket-taker in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He is followed by Ben Stokes, who dismissed 17 Indian batters in four matches.

Dinesh Karthik tells Siraj, 'You've stood up when Bumrah is not there', he reacts: ‘Chance to bowl at tailenders…'
Mohammed Siraj's aggression is often debated on social media, but one cannot deny his passion for the game. He keeps bowling day in and day out. Not once does his speed come down, nor does he go through the motions. He is willing to give everything on the field for his side. Hence, it is no surprise that Siraj once again raised his hand when England got off to a good start in the final innings of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett put on 50 runs for the first wicket, and it was Siraj who provided the crucial breakthrough to India as he dismissed the former on the eventual final ball of Day 3. Siraj speaks about performing for India in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah. (PTI) Siraj produced a ripping yorker to breach through the defence of Crawley. It is fair to say that the pacer's best performances in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy have come when Jasprit Bumrah hasn't been a part of the playing XI. The pacer took six wickets in the first innings of the second Test and returned with four wickets in the first innings of the Oval Test. Jasprit Bumrah was rested in both games due to workload management. Before the start of play on Day 3, Dinesh Karthik interviewed Siraj, and it was then that a question about Bumrah popped up. 'Look at how India has played with Bumrah and without Bumrah. When Bumrah hasn't been there, you've stood up. Responsibility and the fact that you have delivered as a player. What changes? Is it because you get better overs, you get a chance to bowl at tailenders? Your numbers are better. But what is it you think when Bumrah is not around?" asked Dinesh Karthik as he interviewed Siraj for Sky Cricket. Answering the question, the 31-year-old said that he just loves responsibility, and he likes to stand up for the team. I am missing Jassi bhai because he is a senior bowler. You always feel good when you are given the extra responsibility. I like it and I enjoy it. I don't take much pressure. I just like to follow my simple plans,' said Siraj. England needs 324 more runs for the win The hosts reached 50/1 at Stumps on Day 3, and England needs 324 more runs to win the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 3-1. Ben Duckett will be joined by Ollie Pope on Day 4, and both teams have everything to play for in the remaining two days of the series. Earlier, India set England a target of 374 runs after Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his sixth Test century. Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep also scored half-centuries for India in the second innings. The fifth Test began with England winning the toss and opting to bowl first. The hosts gained a 23-run lead in the first innings. However, the visitors put on a batting masterclass in the second innings. And as a result, India are firm favourites to make it 2-2 in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.

India has made its mark, need to continue winning run to dominate world chess: GM Divya
1 2 Nagpur: FIDE Women's World Cup winner and India's newest Grandmaster, Divya Deshmukh, said that while Indian players have firmly established themselves on the global chess stage, the next goal must be complete dominance. "We've made our mark, now we must win every tournament and ensure India becomes the top chess nation in the world," she said at a grand felicitation event organised by the state govt in Nagpur on Saturday. Divya, who was visibly moved by the support, recalled how overwhelmed she felt when she first met Viswanathan Anand in 2017 during a tournament. "Back then, I never imagined that one day I'd come back to Nagpur after such a big win and receive so much love. It's a dream come true," she said. Moving ahead, she said that the Candidates tournament, set to take place in 2026, is her next big aim. "I want to win it and become the World Champion," she said. Speaking on India's growing chess culture, Divya mentioned players like D Gukesh, Arjun Erigaisi and R Praggnanandhaa, who have helped raise India's profile internationally. "But we need to keep up the momentum. There's so much hidden talent in this country that needs to be identified and given the right platform," she added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Access all TV channels anywhere, anytime Techno Mag Learn More Undo Divya shared that she admires World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen as her favourite chess player, and tennis legend Novak Djokovic as her sports idol. She also credits yoga and meditation for helping her manage the stress and pressure of high-level competition. "Spirituality has helped me stay focused and calm," she shared. Talking about her journey, Divya revealed that she began playing chess at the age of five. "My mom wanted me to play a sport but was worried I might get physically hurt. My sister used to play badminton at an academy in Shankar Nagar. The same building also housed a chess academy. That's how it began," she said. By age six, she was playing professionally, and by seven, she had won her first national tournament. "It meant sacrificing a lot — no TV, fewer friends, a very different social life. But when I look back now, it was all worth it," she said. "Moments like these make the temporary distractions feel irrelevant," Divya added. She recalled that during her FIDE World Cup games, her parents weren't allowed inside to cheer, but she felt the support of 1.3 billion Indians. "That thought alone gave me strength," she said. "There's always room for improvement, but this win has taught me about the true meaning of success." Despite her professional chess commitments, Divya stressed the importance of education. "Knowledge is power. I don't want to give up my studies even as I pursue chess at the highest level," she said. She hopes her victory will bring greater attention to the game, so more children and parents consider chess as a serious option. "This moment is very special for me," Divya said. "If my win inspires even one person to pick up the chessboard, I'll feel fulfilled." Her father, Dr Jitendra Deshmukh, said, "Kids will be kids. Sometimes they win, sometimes they lose — as parents, we just need to be there for them, no matter what."
