Andhra Pradesh's Quantum Valley to be first-of-its-kind in India
Spearheaded by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and aligned with India's Rs 6,003 crore National Quantum Mission, the Amaravati Quantum Valley is expected to become a game-changer for both the state's economy and India's position in the global quantum ecosystem.
The project is scheduled for inauguration on January 1, 2026.
Spread over 50 acres, this futuristic tech park will house India's most powerful quantum computer, the 156-qubit IBM Quantum System Two, and is being developed by Larsen & Toubro (L&T).
The initiative promises to generate thousands of high-end jobs, attract global investments, and support a vast ecosystem of startups, multinationals, defence, and space-tech companies.
It will also drive innovation in key sectors such as healthcare, finance, cybersecurity, aerospace, and logistics.
'This is not just about job creation, it's about building a deep-tech economy where AP becomes the backbone of India's future technologies,' Secretary (ITE & C) Katamaneni Bhaskar told TNIE.
'Tech giants need operational ecosystems, and Quantum Valley will be that platform. We envision Andhra Pradesh as India's own Silicon Valley, earning revenue even by offering services and infrastructure to major players.'
Quantum computing is a revolutionary technology that processes information using qubits instead of classical bits. Unlike traditional bits (which exist in 0 or 1), qubits leverage superposition and entanglement, allowing them to exist in multiple states simultaneously.
This makes quantum computers capable of solving complex problems far beyond the reach of even today's fastest supercomputers.
Potential applications are vast including in pharmaceuticals, quantum simulations can drastically speed up drug discovery, in finance, quantum algorithms can better model risk and optimize portfolios and in cybersecurity, quantum systems offer the promise of secure communications through post-quantum cryptography.
The Valley will also facilitate breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, where quantum systems can train massive models with greater efficiency, and logistics, where complex routing can be optimized at scale.

Hamas slams brakes on Donald Trump's 60-day ‘take this deal—it will not get better' Gaza ceasefire proposal
US President Donald Trump on Wednesday (July 2) announced a new proposal aimed at halting nearly 21 months of war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, outlining a 60-day ceasefire and talks to end the conflict. While Israel has signaled support for some aspects of the plan, Hamas stopped short of accepting it outright, insisting that any agreement must guarantee a complete end to the war. During this pause, hostage exchanges, partial Israeli withdrawal, and a surge of humanitarian aid would be implemented. Trump emphasised that the period would be used to work toward a permanent end to the war, warning Hamas: 'I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE.' The President added that a deal could be finalised as soon as next week, contingent on Hamas' agreement. Israeli officials have not publicly commented on Trump's announcement. Privately, as reported by AP, an Israeli official speaking anonymously confirmed that the proposal includes: A partial withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of Gaza. Substantial humanitarian relief. No binding Israeli commitment to end the war as part of this phase. Continued insistence that Hamas must ultimately surrender, disarm, and leave Gaza before any permanent ceasefire. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to travel to Washington next week for high-level talks with Trump and senior US officials. On Wednesday, Hamas indicated it was open to negotiations but would not accept any deal that stops short of ending the war entirely. Hamas spokesperson Taher al-Nunu said: 'We are ready and serious regarding reaching an to accept any initiative that clearly leads to the complete end to the war.' A Hamas delegation is set to meet Egyptian and Qatari mediators in Cairo to discuss the proposal further. Hamas continues to demand: A full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. A permanent end to military operations. Release of hostages in exchange for concessions. The group's position has long been that any ceasefire must result in a total cessation of the conflict, a condition Israel rejects. The proposal's fate remains uncertain. Previous ceasefire negotiations have repeatedly collapsed over the issue of whether the war should end as part of any agreement. Trump views this moment as a possible breakthrough but acknowledged that time is running out to avert a deeper humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Meanwhile, Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Washington is expected to include closed-door security discussions about Gaza and regional threats from Iran.

SAT directs OPG to deposit ₹2.5 crore, stays Sebi's ₹85 crore order
The Securities Appellate Tribunal (SAT) has directed OPG Securities to deposit Rs 2.5 crore, while staying the recovery of a total disgorgement amount of Rs 85.25 crore ordered by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi). The tribunal's order, dated June 30, states: 'There shall be a stay of recovery of the disgorgement amount pursuant to the impugned order, subject to the appellants depositing a sum of Rs 2.5 crore within four weeks from today, subject to the outcome of this appeal. Sebi shall place the same in an interest-bearing account.' The matter has been admitted by the tribunal, which has directed Sebi to file its response. The recent order pertains only to the recovery amount. In April 2019, the market regulator had directed disgorgement of Rs 15.57 crore against the firm. OPG Securities had earlier deposited Rs 7.5 crore, which was half of the initial disgorgement amount. In the National Stock Exchange (NSE) co-location matter, OPG was alleged to have gained an unfair advantage by accessing the secondary server of the stock exchange and making unlawful gains. In a fresh order, Sebi revised the disgorgement amount to Rs 85.25 crore. The counsel for OPG argued that there could be no increase in the disgorgement amount after remand. The tribunal noted that this was a peculiar case in which Sebi had conducted further investigation covering a different and longer period, on the basis of which a fresh show-cause notice was issued. The SAT order states: 'In view of the undisputed fact that the appellants have subjected themselves and participated in the second round of litigation fully, in our view, they are not entitled to a blanket stay order.'
