Klinghoffer, 45, had been facing one year behind bars after he fatally hit Israel Sanchez, who was on a crosswalk.
The grandfather, 47, who had been walking to the grocery store to buy ingredients to make soup, was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
The star had been driving an SUV and making a left turn in Alhambra, California, east of Los Angeles on March 18, 2024, when he crashed into Sanchez, officials told a court.
Klinghoffer was charged on August 29 with vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence, a misdemeanor that can bring a maximum of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
He was not charged with having any violent intent, only with a failure to yield.
Rolling Stone reported on May 28 that Klinghoffer accepted a no-jail plea deal on Wednesday when he appeared in a courtroom in Alhambra, California.
The musician pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence.
The victim's only daughter burst into tears while she told Klinghoffer in court that he had caused her 'deep and lasting trauma."
Los Angeles County Judge Rosa Fregoso sentenced him to one year of informal probation and 60 days of community labor.
Plus, Klinghoffer was ordered to complete a driver safety class and pay restitution - the sum of which will be decided at a later date.
Pearl Jam guitarist sued after 'fatally hitting a grandpa with his car'
He had been driving a black 2022 GMC Yukon at the time of the fatal crash, the court was told. Sanchez's cause of death was blunt force trauma.
A prosecutor warned the defendant about the dangers of distracted driving.
He was told, 'If you continue to drive while distracted, and as a result of your driving someone is killed, you can be charged with murder."
Klinghoffer replied that he understood.
His absence has left an irreversible void in our lives
The dead man's daughter, Ashley Sanchez, burst into tears while telling the court about her beloved dad.
She said in her victim impact statement, "My father was an extraordinary grandfather to my [children].
'His absence has left an irreversible void in our lives.'
She also recalled him as the "heart" of the family, who had a "unique gift for soothing,' while his meals were "more than just food - they were expressions of love and care."
Speaking directly to Klinghoffer, Ashley added that the death of her dad had caused her 'deep and lasting trauma.'
It was also an 'avoidable loss that has shaken my family," she said.
CIVIL LAWSUIT
In July 2024, Ashley launched a lawsuit for wrongful death and negligence against the star.
According to legal filings, plaintiffs alleged Klinghoffer was driving a black SUV with no license plates and turned left at an intersection with a marked crosswalk.
Video from the plaintiffs shows a black car hitting a man - Israel Sanchez - during the turn before pulling over.
The footage was obtained from a neighbor's Ring camera.
The lawsuit alleged Klinghoffer 'was likely driving while distracted' and 'made no braking or slowing motion until after he fatally struck.'
The civil case is set to be heard on July 1.
'My dad was known for being a great chef, the most talented of his family, the greatest grandpa always full of love and joy,' Ashley said in a news release last July.
'His smile was so infectious. His life was taken by a careless act of a person who didn't bother to look where he was driving," she alleged.
DAMAGES DENIED
In January, a judge denied the family's renewed attempt to seek damages in the lawsuit, Rolling Stone reported.
The judge ruled for a second time that the stated claims against Klinghoffer failed to rise to the level of 'willful and conscious disregard' for the safety of others, the outlet added.
Before touring with Pearl Jam, Klinghoffer rose to fame as the guitarist for the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In 2012, he and the band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, making him one of the youngest inductees ever.
in 2019, he left the band to become a touring member of Pearl Jam and Jane's Addiction.

Thomas Partey set to join new club two days before appearing in court over rape charges
Thomas Partey is due to pen a two-year deal with Villarreal after seeing his Arsenal contract expire as the Ghanaian also prepares to appear in court after being hit with several charges Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is due to join Villarreal this summer after his contract at the Emirates expired, leaving him free to seek pastures new. The 32-year-old Ghanaian has undergone a medical and is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Spanish club, which will see him play with the Yellow Submarine until 2027. It will mark his return to La Liga having played there during his Atletico Madrid days. Partey was keen to remain in the Champions League and that was a major factor in him choosing Villarreal, who finished fifth in Spain last term. The midfielder had been linked with moves to clubs in Europe and the Middle East throughout the season. The Athletic reported that the ex-Atletico man was in talks over staying at the Emirates but an agreement could not be reached on the terms of a deal despite the two parties trying until late in the day. Partey joined the club from Atletico for £45million back in 2020 and has been part of their rise to title challengers under Mikel Arteta. All in all he made 167 appearances for Arsenal, scoring nine goals, including one in a north London derby win. Shortly after the Ghanaian's Arsenal exit was confirmed he was charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He denies all charges. He had been the subject of an investigation that began in February 2022. He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday August 5. Arteta was asked for his reaction to the news of Partey's charges and said: "The club was very clear in its statement. There are a lot of legal matters that are very complicated so I cannot comment on any of that. Quizzed further on whether he was confident the club has followed the right process he replied: "100%." Arsenal have made several additions in the middle of the pitch with Martin Zubimendi among their key signings. The Spanish midfielder joins from Real Sociedad after being on the club's radar 12 months ago and will assist the likes of Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard. Christian Norgaard has also joined from Brentford with the Dane adding more depth to the team's midfield options. Arteta has also captured more firepower in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon and Noni Madueke from Chelsea. Join our new WhatsApp community and receive your daily dose of Mirror Football content. He is also accused of sexually assaulting a third woman. Partey – who denies all the charges – was first arrested in July 2022 but not named while continuing to play for the club as investigations were ongoing. The 23-year-old is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Tuesday, August 5. And now the ex-Premier League star is reportedly on the verge of joining Villarreal, according to The Athletic. He has undergone a medical and is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Spanish club until 2027. Partey is a free agent after his Arsenal deal ended on June 30 and was not renewed. The former Atletico Madrid star was in talks over possibly extending his career in North London but an agreement could not be reached. Boss Mikel Arteta said he was '100 per cent' confident that Arsenal followed the correct processes regarding the club's handling of Partey. Defence Lawyer Jenny Wiltshire said: 'Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. "He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation. He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. "Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further' 2 A probe into the defensive midfielder was launched in February 2022 after officers first received a report of rape. The Crown Prosecution Service said the charge came after it "carefully reviewed a comprehensive file of evidence". Partey remained an important part of Arteta's side during 2024-25, accumulating 52 appearances in all competitions. As well as his usual defensive midfield role, Partey started at right-back during the Gunners' defensive woes last season. He scored nine goals and provided seven assists in 167 appearances since joining in 2020.

Ian Holloway vows to 'hunt down' Swindon fan who threw CHAIR at Walsall goalkeeper
Swindon boss Ian Holloway was left fuming following an incident in his side's defeat to Walsall that saw a supporter throw an object in the direction of an opposition player Ian Holloway has vowed to hunt down the Swindon fan who threw a chair at Walsall's goalkeeper in their opening match of the League Two season. The Robins fell to a 2-1 defeat after Connor Barret scored a 91st-minute winner despite the Saddlers only having 10 men on the field. The closing stages of the game at Bescot Stadium saw shot-stopper Myles Roberts go down with a calf issue. And in response to that, an object was thrown from the crowd towards the downed keeper. Goalscorer Barrett handed the object to the referee and now an investigation will be conducted by both teams into a number of incidents which occurred. Swindon boss Holloway was incredulous following the incident and appeared to suggest it was part of the stadium's seating that was thrown in Roberts' direction. The ex-Blackpool and QPR boss called upon those around the perpetrator to come forward as he aims to hunt down the aggressor. "I am a human being who loves this game but I also love other human beings," said Holloway. "I am here to represent my wonderful football club in a way that is courteous in defeat – tenacious as well, I want to fight for things, but you don't rip out a seat and throw it at someone. "I wouldn't want Walsall thinking that about all of us, so anyone stood next to them, I want them dobbed in because that's not right. "These people creep into football and no one does anything about it. I am standing up for Swindon Town, a magnificent club and we don't want anything to do with this. "Whoever you are, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am going to hunt you down and find you." Holloway added that he was disgusted his side's supporters had acted in such a manner. The veteran manager wants to see the person banned if they are identified. "Well done to them (Walsall) I thought their crowd was great. Disgusted with our crowd throwing something on the pitch. "Who the hell do you think you are? You represent us and you represent me - how dare you do that. That's absolutely disgusting, so I hope whoever that was gets banned." Swindon noted they were aware of a 'number of serious incidents' during the game. That included 'the use of pyrotechnics, objects being thrown, abuse directed at stewards, staff, players and match officials, as well as damage caused to property within the stadium'. "This behaviour has absolutely no place at our football club or in the wider game," the Robins said. "Let us be clear: any individuals found to have engaged in such actions will face the strictest possible sanctions, including banning orders and legal action where appropriate."
