Juventus Clinches 4-1 Victory Over Wydad in Decisive FIFA Club World Cup Match
Juventus controlled the match with 4-1, but Wydad Casablanca certainly maintained flashes of attempts and quality.
The first three goals in the match were scored by Juventus forward K. Yildiz, who made several dangerous attempts and plays throughout the game.
However, FIFA officially recorded one of the goals as an own goal by Wydad defender Abdelnouaim Boutouil, who was positioned close to the goal area and is believed to have made contact with the ball as Yildiz's shot came through in the sixth minute of the game.
Wydad Casablanca scored its first and only goal in the match and the tournament in the 25th minute of the game through Thembinkosi Lorch.
The goal came after a stunning assist from FIFA World Cup 2022 semifinalist Nordin Amrabat.
Juventus' fourth goal came as a penalty in the last minutes of the game.
The match proved to be dramatic as Juventus continued its relentless attacks on one end and Wydad felt the weight of pressure. The club's goalkeeper, El Mehdi Benabid, made several crucial saves, keeping his team in the game, preventing multiple goals from finding the net.
Benabid's heroic performance, however, was not enough to spare Wydad from another defeat.
Wydad Casablanca showed the same resilience against English giant Manchester City earlier this week on Wednesday.
While the national club suffered a 2-0 defeat in its opener match, it was celebrated for its quality of play, particularly the coach's performance.
El Mehdi Benabid rescued his team from decisive and strong strikes from Erling Haaland and many other superstars from Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Nordin Amrabat led a successful defense campaign, contributing to the club's fierce response to tackle Manchester City's counterattacks. Tags: 2025 FIFA Club World CupWydad AC

Hamdallah Out of Al-Hilal After Shortest Loan Spell
Saudi club Al-Hilal have reportedly reached an agreement to end Moroccan striker Abderrazak Hamdallah's loan deal just days after announcing his signing. According to Saudi outlet Arriyadiyah, the club and Hamdallah mutually agreed to part ways less than a week into the six-month deal. The striker had joined from Al-Shabab ahead of Al-Hilal's Club World Cup quarter-final clash against Brazil's Fluminense. Hamdallah, 34, came on as a substitute in that match and played only 25 minutes, which ended in a 2-1 defeat for Al-Hilal. The short-term contract included a clause allowing either party to end the agreement at any time. Reports suggest he will now join Al Shabab's pre-season training camp ahead of the new Saudi Pro League season. Al Hilal are said to have appreciated Hamdallah's willingness to join at short notice and are keen to end the contract amicably to avoid any financial disputes. Manager Simone Inzaghi reportedly did not see the Moroccan forward as part of his long-term plans and opted to exclude him from preparations for the Saudi Super Cup in August. Divided Moroccan Map Airs During WAFCON Opening, CAF Issues Apology
A major controversy erupted this week after Morocco's national sports channel aired a promotional video showing a divided map of the country during the opening of the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday in Rabat. The advertisement was for Russian betting company '1XBET,' whose operations Moroccan authorities deem illegal. The commercial featured a map of Morocco that excludes its southern provinces, triggering swift backlash and demands for accountability. The incident was broadcast by Arryadia, a channel under the National Broadcasting and Television Company (SNRT), which is subject to strict broadcasting and advertising codes. These rules require all national broadcasters to screen content thoroughly, particularly when it involves unauthorized companies or potentially sensitive materials. Observers condemned the broadcast as a serious breach of national standards. Many considered the offense twofold: not only did the ad promote a company whose activities are outside Morocco's legal framework, it also undermined the country's territorial integrity by depicting a cut-out map. CAF apologizes In a statement issued in response to public criticism, Arryadia clarified its position regarding the controversial advertisement aired during the opening of the 2024 WAFCON. The channel stated that the promotional video was not produced or selected by its team but was part of the official international feed provided by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). 'The segment in question is part of the official international signal broadcast by the Confederation of African Football as part of the live coverage of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations matches,' the channel explained. 'Arryadia does not intervene in the content of this live signal, as it merely relays the broadcast as provided by the organizing body to all stations airing the event.' The channel also noted that CAF acknowledged the error and addressed the matter directly with Morocco's National Broadcasting and Television Company. 'The Confederation of African Football presented an official apology to the National Broadcasting and Television Company, accepting full responsibility for this unfortunate incident,' the statement read. CAF has reportedly pledged to correct the advertisement and prevent similar incidents in the future. 'It has committed to correcting the promotional clip in question and ensuring such mistakes do not happen again,' Arryadia added. Tags: CAFMoroccoMorocco divided mapmorocco mapWAFCONWestern sahara

Chemsdine Talbi Set to Join Sunderland from Club Brugge
Sunderland are closing in on the signing of Club Brugge winger Chemsdine Talbi in a deal worth around €23m (£19.5m), including add-ons. The 20-year-old has been left out of Brugge's squad for their pre-season match against Rangers, with the transfer now at an advanced stage. Talbi impressed for the Belgian side last season, making 43 appearances across all competitions and catching the eye in the Champions League. He scored six goals and is seen as one of the most promising young wingers in Belgian football. Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano says the Moroccan winger is currently undergoing a medical ahead of signing a five-year contract at the Stadium of Light. 'Chemsdine Talbi to Sunderland, here we go!' Romano posted on social media on Saturday. 'Medical right now for the Moroccan winger at #SAFC. Deal agreed with Club Brugge for €23m package, add-ons included. Documents being exchanged.' This move would make Talbi one of Sunderland's most expensive signings. He would also become their fourth arrival of the summer, following Enzo Le Fée, Habib Diarra and Noah Sadiki. Sunderland are preparing for life back in the Premier League, with head coach Régis Le Bris and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman focusing on a youthful, dynamic squad.
