Yoane Wissa ‘tells Brentford he will NEVER play for them again' as Newcastle consider Nicolas Jackson instead
YOANE WISSA has told Brentford chiefs that he will never play for the club again amid interest from Newcastle, according to reports. And it's claimed that if the Bees continue to play hard ball, the Toon could move on to Chelsea star Nicolas Jackson instead. 4 Wissa, 28, has received serious interest from Newcastle this summer. Brentford recently turned down a £25million Magpies bid for their forward. While the DR Congo international has also attracted strong interest from Nottingham Forest and Tottenham. Wissa left Brentford's pre-season trip to Portugal last week for talks with club chiefs regarding his future. According to the Mail's Craig Hope, the striker has now informed Bees bosses that he will refuse to play for the club again. Wissa reportedly feels that he was promised a move this summer and is unhappy that Brentford have reneged on such an agreement. The 19-goal striker is desperate to play in the Champions League and feels that he may not get such an opportunity again. Brentford are eager to hold on to Wissa, having already lost boss Thomas Frank and several members of the Dane's coaching staff to Tottenham, as well as Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United. Crusaders look to dodge Thunder to maintain title quest
Crusaders will be overwhelming favourites to bag their 12th win of the season on Sunday when they head to Blaydon to tackle Newcastle Thunder. It's North Wales who currently sit at the top of the standings, while Newcastle are at the foot of the table. Despite this, head coach Forster will be taking nothing for granted ahead of the trip. He said: 'We know what Newcastle are about, they're a young and hungry side who won't go away at any point during the game and we need to be well aware of that. 'They go into Sunday with nothing to lose, whilst we've got a target on our back sat where we are in the league, that will naturally raise their game too and I'm expecting a difficult afternoon. 'Both times we've played them this year what's stood out to me is their attitude to never give up, whatever the scoreline is they will keep attacking you, so our defence will need to be switched on.' The first meeting between the sides this season came in February, when Crusaders triumphed 60-0 in the 1895 Cup. It was a big day for Crusaders' captain Chris Barratt as he made his 200th career appearance. Then, in April, North Wales came out on top 74-0 in a league encounter. Ollie Brookes crossed the whitewash for four tries on the day. One aspect that has kept Crusaders on the front foot this season has been substitutions. Forster told CruCast: 'You don't have to get to a particular minute to impress or there's not a certain standard what we're trying to achieve. 'What we're trying to achieve is quality and... I think all our middles could do big minutes.' Forster added: 'This is where, even more so, credit goes to Baz (Barratt), when you have a middle, or when Eavo (Josh Eaves) starts, when you have a middle and a nine that can play 50, 60 minutes easily straight through, it gives you a lot of scope on your substitutions.' Crusaders sat out last weekend's action and results mean they are now three points clear. Chasing Workington Town and Midlands Hurricanes can both achieve 27 points this season, which means that three wins from their remaining six matches will see Crusaders get to 28 points. If everything goes to plan for Crusaders over the next few weeks, they could wrap up the league title with victory away to Rochdale Hornets on August 10. Elsewhere on Sunday, Swinton Lions will play host to Midlands Hurricanes, while Whitehaven visit Keighley Cougars. In further action, Goole Vikings welcome Rochdale Hornets.

Newcastle United plot move for £50m Chelsea striker to replace Alexander Isak
Newcastle United are interested in a deal to sign Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson as a replacement for Alexander Isak, according to reports. Eddie Howe's side have ramped up plans to sign a new forward after Isak told the club he wanted to leave St James' Park in the summer window. Isak has been strongly linked with a move to Premier League champions Liverpool, who are believed to be plotting a massive offer for the Swede. Newcastle are considering a number of players to replace Isak and have now added Jackson to their list of potential options, the Daily Mail report. Jackson, who scored 10 Premier League goals in 30 games last term, has also attracted interest from Manchester United ahead of the new season. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. The 24-year-old Senegal international has been at Stamford Bridge since June 2023, with the Blues paying a £32m fee to sign him from Villarreal. It's believed that Chelsea want around £50m in order to let Jackson leave the west London club, with the player under contract until 2033. Jackson has played a total of 81 games for Chelsea to date across all competitions, producing 30 goals and 12 assists. It was reported in June that Italian side Juventus had made contact with Jackson's representatives and were considering a bid for the player. Arsenal have also been linked to Chelsea striker Jackson this summer – and the same is true for AC Milan – as well as Aston Villa. Chelsea have brought in two new strikers this summer with Liam Delap arriving from Ipswich and Joao Pedro coming in from Brighton. That has called into question their plans for Jackson, who now faces a lot of competition up front and may well have fallen down the pecking order. It should be noted, though, that Jackson is not the only striker Newcastle are looking at as a potential replacement for wantaway star Isak. More Trending Ollie Watkins is thought to be a possible option for Newcastle, although it remains to be seen if Aston Villa would allow him to join a top-flight rival. Newcastle are also weighing up a move for Brentford forward Yoane Wissa, who scored 19 Premier League goals in 35 games last season. The Magpies have made an enquiry for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko too.
