Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela to begin on October 31, 2026
On July 29, 2027, 'Nagar Pradakshina' (a procession carrying the idol around the city in a clockwise direction) will be held at Nashik. The first 'Amrut Snan' (ritual dip) in the Godavari river will happen on August 2, 2027, the second one will take place on August 31, 2027, the third in Nashik on September 11, 2027, and fourth one on September 12, 2027, at Trimbakeshwar. The Simhastha Kumbh Mela held once in 12 years, will wind up on July 24, 2028.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting with the priests and temple heads in Nashik, Mr. Fadnavis said that this will the world's biggest event and the arrangements will amaze everyone around the world.
'We have issued tenders of works costing ₹ 4,000 crore and another tender for work costing ₹ 2,000 crore will also be issued soon. A development plan of ₹681 crores for Choundi, the birthplace of Ahilyadevi Holkar is also announced today. We are in the process of preserving the ghats constructed by her,' the CM said.
Speaking about the meeting, the CM said, 'Today we discussed on the progress of the ongoing work on the sewage treatment plant, cleaning of Godavari river and land acquisition for 'Sadhugram'. To make sure there is no stampede-like-situation, we have announced the 'Amrut Snan' dated already and kepts the program running on a long stretch so that no devotee has to rush for special holy bath. We are working in advance to make sure every experience at Simhastha Kumbh Mela becomes a memorable one with safety of people and keeping the environment sacred and pute for every person who attends it.'
The State government has also accepted suggestions from Mahant Rajendradas Maharaj during the meeting that 'Shahi Snan' should be called 'Amrut Snan' like it was done in the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela in Uttar Pradesh.
'With the kind of preparations, we are making to turn into a magnificent and memorable event, the world will be left awestruck looking at our ancient culture. We are working as per the feedback of the akharas, sadhus and mahants to provide the best possible amenities. Unlike 2015 Kumbh when there was little time to prepare, this time we have ample time on our hands to do a thorough preparation. Our priority is also to maintain the purity of Godavari river and for that we have planned for an uninterrupted river flow that will ensure clean water during and after the event,' the CM added.
On quality infrastructure, the CM said a concrete road network is under progress across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar with crowd management plans at places like Kushavarta in Trimbakeshwar.
Nashik will host a total of 44 auspicious bathing events, and Trimbakeshwar will host 53, including auspicious holy baths on Ekadashi, Purnima, Amavasya, Vaidhriti, and Vyatipata yogas.

Interference won't work, innovation will: Fadnavis
PUNE : Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said that if local 'dadagiri' and interference continue, Pune would lose its leadership role in the industrial sector. He reminded Punekars that Sambhajinagar is already emerging as the new EV capital and in all likelihood will go ahead of Pune. Even other cities are catching up, he said, and, hence, Pune should now concentrate on innovative hubs to stay ahead in the race. Interference won't work, innovation will: Fadnavis Fadnavis was in the city to sign a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Niti Aayog for Pune Metropolitan Region Growth Hub. Pune is the fifth growth hub in the country. While giving his speech, the chief minister said, 'A big bottleneck of Pune's industrial development is 'local dadagiri' - the interference in the industries by local leaders and goons. They are the ones determining terms about manpower, raw material and others. This is affecting development.' Fadnavis said that this can be achieved only if the socio-political system for industries undergoes change. 'We cannot ask them to work under pressure. Pune has a lot of potential but other centres like Sambhajinagar and Nagpur are fast emerging. Industries are going there even though Pune's biggest capital is manpower and innovation. Hence, the city should concentrate on innovation. Sambhajinagar is the leading EV capital and very soon, it will cross Pune,' he added. Niti Aayog's chief executive officer V R Subramanyham spoke about Pune's advantages, potential, and the weak points it needs to tackle to become a world-class city. 'The central government has already identified and started work for four economic growth hubs and the project implementations have started. Now, we are going to declare five more economic growth hubs, including Pune and Katak. Pune is leading in manufacturing, IT, automobile and education but there are many more sectors which have a lot of potential. For example, agri processing and urban tourism.' He also touched on poor public transport, road network, less open spaces, and traffic issues, calling them hindrances to Pune's growth. Earlier, the chief minister had announced with regard to infrastructure that his government is planning a new Airport Road and a Ring Road. 'It would create more positive impact for the city. Earlier, land and capital used to attract industries but nowadays, industries are going where skilled manpower is available,' he said. Fadnavis also said that to meet global standards, a place need to have ease of business and hassle-free policies. 'Government needs to change its mindset and approve the required permissions within a timeframe. Execution of project on time is important, otherwise the projects become generation projects which keep on progressing but with no output,' he added.

Kolhapur to get fourth bench of Bombay High Court from August 18
Mumbai: In a landmark development for western Maharashtra, the state government on Friday issued a notification announcing the establishment of a fourth bench of the Bombay High Court in Kolhapur. The circuit bench will become operational from August 18, 2025, following the appointment of judges by the High Court. The bench will provide significant assistance in making the administration of justice more efficient. Moreover, it will also save the time, effort, and money of the citizens. The bench will cater to the districts of Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg, benefiting citizens who had struggled for many years for this facility. The order, signed by chief justice Alok Aradhe and issued with the approval of the Governor of Maharashtra, states, 'In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 51 of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956, and all other powers enabling me in this behalf... I appoint Kolhapur as a place at which Judges and Division Courts of the High Court may also sit, with effect from August 18, 2025.' Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed the move, calling it a 'long-pending demand' from the region. 'The High Court has approved the establishment of a judicial circuit bench in Kolhapur, which will cater to six districts . This will significantly ease the burden on litigants by saving them time, money and effort,' he said. Currently, the Bombay High Court operates from its principal seat in Mumbai, with three additional benches — in Nagpur, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad), and Goa. For over two decades, residents and lawyers from western Maharashtra and parts of the Konkan region have been demanding a dedicated bench, citing the hardship of travelling to Mumbai for court proceedings. 'This is a historic moment. Justice will now be delivered at the doorstep of people in the region,' said senior advocate Rajiv Chavan, former president of the Advocates Association of Western India.
