Apple TV Plus drops first look at 'Ted Lasso' season 4 — here's who's confirmed to return

Tom's Guide4 days ago
'Ted Lasso' season 4 is finally happening, with filming now officially underway. After weeks of scarce updates, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Hannah Waddingham recently confirmed that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 would start filming in July (which is now clearly true), and Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a first look at the new season on Twitter ( currently known as X).
The image, featuring returning cast members Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, and Waddingham herself, is the clearest sign yet that AFC Richmond isn't hanging up its cleats just yet.
Apple TV Plus also released a quick heart-warming video featuring the 'Ted Lasso' characters sharing laughs and bonding around a diner table, giving fans a cozy sneak peek at the team's dynamic in season 4.
While season 3 wrapped up in a way that felt like a series finale, the creative team always left the door open. Now that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is official, it might not be the same story fans are used to. Co-creator Bill Lawrence has hinted at a new direction, saying season 4 would tell a 'different story,' and even described it as 'almost a self-reboot.'
Although season 4 is still planned to take place in London, filming is reportedly beginning in the United States. Since the season 3 finale showed Ted heading back to America, it's likely that the new season will pick up from that moment. Judging by Cook's post, this moment could easily serve as a strong and fitting way to start the season.
Whether it's a continuation, a soft relaunch, or a whole new direction, one thing is clear: the world of 'Ted Lasso' isn't done just yet. And with production underway, fans can start getting excited for what's next.
As production for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is underway, several key cast members are set to return, along with some new faces.

Jason Sudeikis will, of course, lead the new team as Coach Ted Lasso. Hannah Waddingham reprises her role as Rebecca Welton, the club's owner. Juno Temple brings her vibrant energy back to the team as Keeley Jones, while Brett Goldstein continues as Roy Kent, the seasoned veteran whose passion and experience remain a driving force on and off the field.
Jeremy Swift reprises his role as Leslie, the team's operations director. Brendan Hunt returns as Coach Beard, Ted's loyal assistant whose unique coaching style adds a distinctive touch to the team's strategy.
Additionally, Grant Feely has been cast as Henry, Ted's son, marking a recasting from previous seasons.
The cast will also welcome several new faces, including Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Abbie Hern, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey. While their exact roles remain under wraps, it's likely they'll be playing members of the revamped AFC Richmond women's team.
Apple hasn't announced an official release date for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 yet, but expect more updates as production progresses. In the meantime, all three previous seasons of 'Ted Lasso' are available for streaming on Apple TV Plus.

Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn's Apple Series Has a Title and a Premiere Date

Nearly three years after it was first announced, and following a few vague teasers from the principals over that time, some concrete details about the Apple TV+ series created by Vince Gilligan and starring Rhea Seehorn are finally available. Well, a couple, at least. More from The Hollywood Reporter Jessica Chastain-Led Thriller 'The Savant' Gets Date, First Look From Apple TV+ 'Ted Lasso' Kicks Back Into Gear With Key Returnees, New Cast for Season 4 Apple's Matt Cherniss on Record Emmy Haul and 'Studio' Breakthrough: "Great All the Way Around" For starters, the series — marking a reunion between the Better Call Saul co-creator and star — has a title, Pluribus (the 'many' part of the unofficial U.S. motto 'E pluribus unum,' or 'From many, one') and a premiere date, Nov. 7. Apple TV+ also released the first photo of Seehorn from the series, which is at the top of this story. As for what Pluribus is about? That's murkier. The show's logline describes it as 'a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.' Cryptic social media posts from Apple earlier in the week read, 'Happiness is contagious,' while a brief teaser released with the premiere date (watch it below) offers a deeply unsettling vibe but no insight. What is known: Pluribus comes from Sony PIctures TV, Gilligan's long-time studio home and the producer of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Apple TV+ won a bidding war for the series in 2022 with a two-season order. Gilligan has said he wrote the show for Seehorn, who in turn has described it as 'a wild ride.' 'He's vacillating between tones and between genres like he and Peter Gould did on Better Call Saul, but it's even more pronounced now,' she told The Hollywood Reporter last year. '… It is a very challenging role and a very challenging show in the best way. It's everything that an actor would want.' Gilligan has also said that, unlike the antiheroic centers of Breaking Bad and Saul, Seehorn's character in Pluribus is more of a hero (albeit a flawed one). Accepting an award from the Writers Guild of America in February, he called on his fellow scribes to leave villain stories behind: 'As a writer, speaking to a room full of writers, I have a proposal; it certainly won't fix everything, but I think it's a start. I say we write more good guys. For decades we made the villains too sexy [and] viewers everywhere, all around the world, pay attention. They say, 'Here's this badass, I want to be that cool.' When that happens, fictional bad guys stop being the precautionary tales they were intended to be. God help us, they've become aspirational.' Along with Seehorn, the cast includes Karolina Wydra and Carlos-Manuel Vesga. Miriam Shor and Samba Schutte are guest stars. As for the rest, we'll find out in November. Gilligan executive produces Pluribus with Gordon Smith, Alison Tatlock, Diane Mercer, Allyce Ozarski and Jeff Frost. Jenn Carroll and Trina Siopy are co-EPs. Smith, Tatlock, Mercer, Carroll and Siopy all worked with Gilligan on Breaking Bad and/or Better Call Saul. ‘Ted Lasso' Stars Surprise Fans Onstage at Mumford & Sons Concert

Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt led the band in a rendition of the show's theme song 'Ted Lasso' is coming back — but the Richmond crew isn't in England anymore. As Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple and Brendan Hunt began filming for the fourth season of the Apple TV+ series in Kansas City, the group stopped by a Mumford & Sons concert to help sing their theme song. Marcus Mumford of Mumford & Sons co-created the theme song for the show alongside Tom Howe. The concert took place on July 24 at the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs — a suburb of Kansas City. At this point, Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple and Hunt took the stage, dancing and singing along. 'Mumford & Sons performing the Ted Lasso theme song LIVE with the crew of Ted Lasso in #KC #tedlasso' user @JillianC_arroll shared on X. You can view the performance below. On Monday, Apple TV+ shared a first look at the fourth season of 'Ted Lasso.' The teaser featured series regulars Sudeikis, Waddingham, Temple and Jeremy Swift at what appears to be a midwestern diner. Swift did not join the group at the concert. In 2023, 'Ted Lasso' returned to Apple TV+ for a third season initially conceived as a potential series finale. The final episode of the third season was titled 'So Long, Farewell' and tied up a number of plot threads — including sending the Kansas-based Coach Lasso home after a successful final season with AFC Richmond. In March, Apple TV+ officially renewed 'Ted Lasso' for a fourth season, confirming the return of Sudeikis. In the new season, Coach Lasso will take the reins of Richmond's new women's team, which was established at the end of Season 3. Sudeikis, who grew up in Overland Park, Kansas, brings a lot of personal history to the midwestern character. 'Ted Lasso's' current Kansas City filming marks a homecoming for the 'SNL' alum and series co-developer. Based on the reactions in the video, the crowd at the Azura seemed thrilled to have him back. 'KANSAS CITAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!' Sudeikis yelled to the crowd after the song. 'How lucky are they?'
