Season 4 Of 'Ted Lasso' Is Officially In Production — And We Have A First Look
The hit Emmy-winning series Ted Lasso has been 'exhumed,' as star Hannah Waddingham put it. The Apple TV+ juggernaut, which was once believed to end after season 3, is officially making its return. Here's everything we know about Ted Lasso's next season. Yes! In March 2025, it was announced that Ted Lasso would return for a fourth season. In a statement about the renewal, per Variety, Sudeikis said: 'As we all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to 'look before we leap,' in season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it's exactly where they're meant to be.' Here's the official logline from Apple: Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would. Jason Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Jeremy Swift, and Brendan Hunt are all confirmed to return. When asked about returning for a fourth season of Ted Lasso, Waddingham said, 'It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we've exhumed it, and I am here for it. I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She's my girl. She's in my bloodstream, so I'm thrilled that it's been exhumed.' She continued, 'I can't wait to get involved with that and put my penneth in and go shopping for her looks.' Season 4 will also have a few new additions: Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education), Jude Mack (Such Brave Girls), Faye Marsay (Adolescence), Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World Dominion), Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane), and newcomer, Rex Hayes. Their roles have not yet been announced. Grant Feely will also join the cast and step in as Ted's son, Henry, a role previously played by Gus Turner. Yes! On July 21, Apple TV+ announced that production was underway. Principal photography began today in Kansas City, and additional filming will take place in London. We also have a first look: This story will be updated. ELLE Collective is a new community of fashion, beauty and culture lovers. Hannah Waddingham Compares 'Ted Lasso' Season 4 to a ‘Beloved Dog That Was Buried'
While fans of the hit show Ted Lasso still have a while before the show's return for Season 4, the comments from the cast alone are reason for excitement. That's at least partially because the show's stars always seem overjoyed to discuss the upcoming season and the fact that Ted Lasso hasn't bid its fans farewell just yet. While plenty of familiar faces are set to return for the fourth season of the beloved Apple TV+ series, there'll also be several new additions in the mix. Of those names returning, AFC Richmond owner Hannah Waddingham, aka Rebecca Welton, is more than willing to express her excitement about what lies ahead in Season 4. During an interview with Variety at the Smurfs premiere in Los Angeles, Waddingham spoke about the return of Ted Lasso and offered one of the most unique analogies imaginable. "It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we've exhumed it, and I am here for it," Waddingham said. "I was hankering and hankering and hankering and hankering to see where Rebecca had gone, where she was going to. She's my girl. She's in my bloodstream, so I'm thrilled that it's been exhumed." It's an incredible analogy to come up with on the spot, but it's also a bit spot on. The future of Ted Lasso seemed uncertain after Season 3, but with the announcement of its return, Season 4 promises to be beautiful and beloved. Along with Waddingham, we know Ted Lasso himself, Jason Sudeikis, will be back, along with fellow assistant coaches Brett Goldstein and Brendan Hunt. Many others have hinted at their potential return, but have kept details under wraps while avoiding giving too much away about Season Waddingham Compares 'Ted Lasso' Season 4 to a 'Beloved Dog That Was Buried' first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 14, 2025 Solve the daily Crossword

'Ted Lasso' Season 4 Casting Update—Phil Dunster
By now you've probably heard the news that Apple TV+'s breakout comedy Ted Lasso is coming back for a season 4. You might even be aware that season 4 has already started filming, with many lead cast members returning. But it's not all good news. Based on the cast news, it looks like Phil Dunster isn't returning for Ted Lasso season 4. And while I am in mourning, I can't help but wonder what this could mean for Roy and Keeley. Phil, who starred in the series as the bad boy of AFC Richmond Jamie Tartt, reportedly doesn't have a Ted Lasso season 4 deal—at least, not yet. It's still completely possible that Phil—and fellow OG cast member Nick Mohammed—will reach some kind of deal to reprise his role in some capacity, but given that they've already started production, it just probably wouldn't be as a series regular. The actor's absence from season 4 would be sad, yes, but it's not all bad. In fact, this might be the best thing that has happened to Roy and Keeley shippers in years. Unlike Phil, stars Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein have both been confirmed for the season, which means their respective characters, Keeley and Roy, could get another shot at love. Keeley, Roy, and Jamie ended Ted Lasso season 3 still stuck in an unresolved love triangle (or a budding throuple, depending on which fans you ask). And as a Roy-Keeley shipper, I would be lying if I said that Jamie's absence in season 4 wasn't giving me some hope that we'll get to see the Roy F**king Kent and Keeley Jones be the power couple they were always meant to be. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly in 2023—long before season 4 was ever confirmed—Brett, who is also a writer on the show, confessed that he could see Roy and Keeley getting back together in an imaginary future. 'I like the fact that some things aren't resolved so that I can dream what I wanna dream,' he said at the time. 'Now, in my dream, there's a lot of Roy and Keeley, and there's a lot of Roy, Keeley, and Jamie.' He continued, 'In my dream version, if it's a throuple, it's mostly Roy and Keeley, but Jamie joins in occasionally.' Sounds like a perfect guest spot, if you ask me.

Is Phil Dunster not in Ted Lasso Season 4? 8 other favorites who could be out
Excitement is high for fans of everyone's favorite football-coach-turned-soccer-coach, Ted Lasso as Apple TV+ released the first behind-the-scenes clip of Season 4 on Monday, giving a glimpse at the cast in a Kansas City restaurant. Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca Welton), Juno Temple (Keeley Jones), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard) and Jeremy Swift (Leslie Higgins) are all confirmed to return for the new season of the Emmy-award winning comedy. But will we see all of our favorites? So far, there has not been any official confirmation on any of the following: Before you panic, just know this doesn't meant that they're definitely not returning in their roles. There is potential that the new season centers around the new AFC Richmond women's team that Keeley pitched to Rebecca at the end of Season 3. If that's the case -- and Ted is being approached to help with or coach the women's squad -- it makes sense we'd see less of the men's players. There's still a chance that some, or all, of the previous supporting cast returns. We'll just have to wait and see. Is Phil Dunster coming back as Jamie Tartt? Regarding that, from Deadline: Not picked up at the time was Phil Dunster (Jamie), in part due to a conflict with another series. He has since signed on for a series regular role on a new HBO comedy from Ted Lasso executive producer Bill Lawrence and Warner Bros TV but could potentially reprise his role in some limited capacity, with fellow Brit Nick Mohammed (Nate) teasing a possible Ted Lasso return in January.

Apple TV Plus drops first look at 'Ted Lasso' season 4 — here's who's confirmed to return
'Ted Lasso' season 4 is finally happening, with filming now officially underway. After weeks of scarce updates, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief. Hannah Waddingham recently confirmed that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 would start filming in July (which is now clearly true), and Apple CEO Tim Cook shared a first look at the new season on Twitter ( currently known as X). The image, featuring returning cast members Jason Sudeikis, Juno Temple, Jeremy Swift, and Waddingham herself, is the clearest sign yet that AFC Richmond isn't hanging up its cleats just yet. Apple TV Plus also released a quick heart-warming video featuring the 'Ted Lasso' characters sharing laughs and bonding around a diner table, giving fans a cozy sneak peek at the team's dynamic in season 4. While season 3 wrapped up in a way that felt like a series finale, the creative team always left the door open. Now that 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is official, it might not be the same story fans are used to. Co-creator Bill Lawrence has hinted at a new direction, saying season 4 would tell a 'different story,' and even described it as 'almost a self-reboot.' Although season 4 is still planned to take place in London, filming is reportedly beginning in the United States. Since the season 3 finale showed Ted heading back to America, it's likely that the new season will pick up from that moment. Judging by Cook's post, this moment could easily serve as a strong and fitting way to start the season. Whether it's a continuation, a soft relaunch, or a whole new direction, one thing is clear: the world of 'Ted Lasso' isn't done just yet. And with production underway, fans can start getting excited for what's next. As production for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 is underway, several key cast members are set to return, along with some new faces. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Jason Sudeikis will, of course, lead the new team as Coach Ted Lasso. Hannah Waddingham reprises her role as Rebecca Welton, the club's owner. Juno Temple brings her vibrant energy back to the team as Keeley Jones, while Brett Goldstein continues as Roy Kent, the seasoned veteran whose passion and experience remain a driving force on and off the field. Jeremy Swift reprises his role as Leslie, the team's operations director. Brendan Hunt returns as Coach Beard, Ted's loyal assistant whose unique coaching style adds a distinctive touch to the team's strategy. Additionally, Grant Feely has been cast as Henry, Ted's son, marking a recasting from previous seasons. The cast will also welcome several new faces, including Faye Marsay, Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Abbie Hern, Rex Hayes, and Aisling Sharkey. While their exact roles remain under wraps, it's likely they'll be playing members of the revamped AFC Richmond women's team. Apple hasn't announced an official release date for 'Ted Lasso' season 4 yet, but expect more updates as production progresses. In the meantime, all three previous seasons of 'Ted Lasso' are available for streaming on Apple TV Plus.
