Will Ferrell ‘excited' to bring Eurovision musical to Broadway
Will Ferrell has said he is 'excited' to bring a musical version of the Eurovision Song Contest to Broadway.
The American actor, 57, is basing the project on his Netflix movie, Eurovision Song Contest: The Story Of Fire Saga, which he starred in opposite Canadian actress Rachel McAdams and British actor Dan Stevens.
'We are more than excited to bring Eurovision to Broadway,' said Ferrell.
'The stage musical is a perfect place to continue our celebration of all the things we love about this amazing and unifying song competition.'

The production will feature a book by Ferrell, Harper Steele, who both co-wrote the original film and were in the documentary Will & Harper together, and Anthony King, a TV and Broadway writer.
Music will come from Savan Kotecha, who was behind the songs for the Netflix movie, and will be directed by Alex Timbers.
'Will Ferrell and Harper Steele are my comedy heroes,' Timbers, a Tony award-winning director, said.
'And when I first saw their joyful movie Eurovision during the pandemic, it buoyed spirits during a very dark time.
'With this stage adaptation, I can't wait to bring that same mix of heart, spectacle, irreverence, and awe to audiences across the world.'
In the 2020 movie, The Notebook actress McAdams, an Oscar nominee, and Elf star Ferrell play Icelandic musicians Lars Erickssong and Sigrit Ericksdottir who are competing at Eurovision.

It was nominated for a best original song Academy Award for Husavik (My Hometown) written by Kotecha, Fat Max Gsus, and Rickard Goransson.
Eurovision director Martin Green, from the organising group, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), said: 'This is a stellar team for what I am sure will be an equally stellar adaption of a film the world loved.
'Our aim always is to bring the joy of the Eurovision Song Contest to more people globally – especially as we approach our 70th edition in 2026.'
Last month, the 2025 winner of Eurovision was crowned as 24-year-old opera singer JJ from Austria, who entered with the dramatic Wasted Love.
Netflix has previously turned its popular science fiction show Stranger Things into a play in the West End called Stranger Things: The First Shadow, which serves as a prequel to the series.

American woman wins dream cottage in Ireland
For one 29-year-old Irish-American woman, it was definitely the luck of the Irish when she won a traditional stone cottage for the price of a $12 raffle ticket. Marine Corps officer Kathleen Spangler bought three tickets for the draw and then promptly forgot about them, so she was amazed to get a message out of the blue asking, 'By chance did you win a cottage in Ireland?' His friend had just read an article about the cottage and noticed that the organisers had announced the winner as a Kathleen Spangler. And I said: 'I don't think so but let me check.' Kathleen was flabbergasted when she realised she had won and immediately called her husband who was in a math's class, telling him the amazing news that she had just won a house in Ireland. She told him more about the raffle, but he thought it was a scam, until Kathleen received an email from Imelda Collins, and then they realised it was true. 'It was a great experience to be able to speak directly to her and helped to make it real.' Winning a cottage in Ireland represents something of a homecoming for Kathleen as her grandmother had emigrated from Mayo to the United States, while her great grandfather's family hailed from Sligo, about 12 miles from the cottage. Poop Cruise makes 'Number 1' in TV ratings
If you're looking for something new to binge watch on TV this weekend, and if you have a strong stomach, then you might just enjoy the latest offering from Netflix about the Cruise Holiday gone wrong, better known as the 'Poop Cruise'. Luxury Cruise holidays have grown in popularity over the past decade or so, with thousands upon thousands of us choosing to sail around the Mediterranean, the Bahamas or the Scandinavian Fjords, to name just a few of the destinations on offer every year. Netflix timed it well with the release of this latest holiday horror for the senses documentary entitled 'Trainwreck – Poop Cruise' which shows graphic footage of the aftermath of a fire onboard the Carnival Triumph Luxury Liner in 2013. Pic: Courtesy of Netflix © 2025 The new documentary – and the clue is in the name, looks back on the really 'crap' time thousands of holidaymakers had on board the luxurious vessel, and memories of that infamous time are still burned into the minds of the unfortunate passengers and crew who found themselves trapped on board, with no toilets, for five long days. After the 14-storey ship lost its electricity as a result of a freak accidental fire in the engine room, passengers were no longer able to flush the toilets, and the situation quickly turned desperate and very unsanitary for the 4,000 people who were trapped onboard the ship in the Gulf of Mexico for almost a week. The journey was supposed to be a four-day pleasure cruise from Galveston in Texas to Cozumel in Mexico, but the blaze, which was contained to the engine room of the enormous vessel, turned out to have huge repercussions for the whole ship. Passengers interviewed for the documentary told tales of the entire ship stinking of urine and worse, and of being initially being told by crew that they could do a 'number 1' in the showers, passengers were then instructed to collect red plastic 'Poo Bags' from the crew, and after use, these bags which would then be disposed of in bins on board the vessel. There were stories of queuing up for cold sandwiches, and of food running out, of people making up makeshift beds on the ships deck because the heat in the cabins was unbearable with no air-con and flooded floors, and tensions running high among passengers. Pic: Netflix © 2025 Along with interviews with passengers, and crew members who were on board, the hour-long Netflix special also features camera footage from holidaymakers, showing hallways and cabins destroyed with fecal matter and urine. With no power, the ship was drifting aimlessly in the Gulf of Mexico for days before finally being towed to Mobile in Alabama where the passengers eventually disembarked. Carnival Cruise Lines is believed to have reimbursed everyone for their ruined vacations. The company is also thought to have spent more than $500 million dollars to implement a range of new measures across their entire fleet of ships, dealing with everything from fire prevention to enhanced management systems on board their luxury vessels. The documentary is streaming now on Netflix.
