Spanish bar where Scottish crime figures were shot dead to reopen
Mongahan and Lyons Jnr were targeted by a lone gunman in front of friends and customers after watching the Champions League final.Both were linked to the Lyons crime group, which is based in the west of Scotland.According to the Spanish National Police, the suspect's gun jammed after he killed Lyons Jnr with a single shot outside the bar.He then pursued Monaghan inside and fired two more shots which proved fatal.On Tuesday, a senior Spanish National Police officer highlighted the "professionalism" of the shootings and the suspect's "perfectly planned" escape from Spain.Chief Supt Pedro Agudo Novo also alleged that the killer was a member of the Daniel crime group.The Lyons and Daniel families and their criminal associates have been engaged in a violent feud which dates back more than two decades.
Since March, individuals linked to the Daniel group have been targeted in a wave of gangland attacks in the east and west of Scotland.BBC Scotland News understands that investigators in Spain and in Scotland were surprised by Chief Supt Agudo Novo's public statement.The position of Scottish detectives is that there is no evidence linking the shootings to the Daniel group.In response to Chief Supt Novo's comments, Police Scotland repeated the carefully-worded statement they issued three days after the murders.The force said there was still "no current evidence" to suggest events in Fuengirola were linked to the ongoing violence in Scotland, or that they had been "orchestrated from Scotland".Last Friday, Michael Riley was arrested on an international arrest warrant in the Liverpool area in connection with the shootings.Mr Riley appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court in London via videolink from HMP Wandsworth on Thursday.He has not been charged and as yet has had no opportunity to respond to allegations made about him by Spanish National Police.

British man linked to ‘one of London's most dangerous crime gangs' arrested
A British man accused of being an assassin has been arrested in the Costa del Sol. The suspect, who was reported by officers to be on the run and having links with 'one of London's most dangerous crime gangs', was found to have pistols, ammunition and a silencer in his crashed Nissan Qashqai following his arrest. He is alleged to have harassed two Dutch women after getting them to buy him cocaine in an incident at a petrol station and crashed his car, according to the local paper Diario Sur. The man, who is wanted for 'several murders', attempted to flee as officers arrived at the scene, in an area known as Riviera, between La Cala de Mijas and Marbella, it was reported by The Sun. A spokesperson for Mijas police said: 'A British man has been arrested in Riviera who had a warrant out for him ordering his remand in prison for murder.' He added: 'While conducting surveillance work in La Cala de Mijas, officers were called yesterday to deal with an altercation at a petrol station in the area. 'Upon arrival, they interviewed a customer at the station who stated that a foreign man who had been harassing her had already driven away from the scene. 'Shortly afterwards, a call was received alerting us to an accident on Orfebres Street in Riviera. 'Upon arrival the officers found a damaged vehicle that matched the one involved in the incident at the petrol station.' The images of the wreckage showed two pistols, ammunition, a silencer, a notebook with names and addresses, along with a book titled 'Practical Buddhism and the Search for Self' within the vehicle. Diario Sur reported on Saturday: 'An investigation remains open to clarify his links with organised crime.' It comes as two alleged members of a 'professional' robbery gang were arrested in Marbella following raids on around nine tourist flats.

Police released photos of pistols, ammunition and a silencer seized in his vehicle after the suspect, described locally as having links with 'one of London 's most dangerous crime gangs', tried to flee and they held him and discovered he should be in prison. The pics showed the unnamed Brit was also carrying a book called 'Practical Buddhism and the Search for Self.' The arrest was made in an area called Riviera between La Cala de Mijas and Marbella. The driver attempted to flee when he saw police but was quickly intercepted by the officers. Once identified, they verified that he was a British man with a warrant for his arrest and remand in prison for murder. 'He was also carrying several firearms and a large amount of ammunition which were seized. 'After being arrested, he was handed over to the Civil Guard police force so he could be taken before a judge and subsequently imprisoned.' Police offered no detail about the exact nature of the crimes he was wanted for or any information about his age. As well as two pistols and the silencer they are also said to have found a contacts book with names and addresses in his crashed car which they have handed over to Civil Guard investigators to go through. The photos they released of the smashed-up Nissan Qashqai showed the British man had hit a lamp-post in a residential street. He has already been remanded to jail on the orders of a judge in Fuengirola. Sur reported today: 'An investigation remains open to clarify his links with organised crime.'
