General Hospital legend Tristan Rogers shares cancer news in heartbreaking statement
A General Hospital icon has shared the devastating news that he has been diagnosed with cancer. Veteran star Tristan Rogers is best known for playing the part of Robert Scorpio on the long-running American soap opera.
And his friend and publicist, Anthony Turk, shared a press release to reveal the sad news. It read: "'Beloved Emmy-winning actor Tristan Rogers, best known for his role as Robert Scorpio on the daytime drama, General Hospital, is sharing with fans that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
"While he remains hopeful and is working closely with his medical team on a treatment plan, this is a challenging time for Tristan and his family."
Anthony went on to request "privacy and understanding" while the star and his family come to terms with the diagnosis. He added they are facing "emotional and physical burdens that come with this diagnosis".
Anthony concluded: "'They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of support and love from their friends and family. Tristan sends his love to his fans and wants them to know how much he appreciates their loyalty and encouragement over the years,' Turk concluded. 'This support means more to him now than ever."
Tristan has been a part of the stateside soap since 1980. Despite taking a step back in recent years, he reprised his role last year. His last appearance on the show came on November 12, 2024.
And he has always been keen to chat about the character, admitting in 2018 that he was at the time "working with a lot of different people … And I think the fans are going to like it."
As well as appearing in General Hospital, Tristan has held roles in other hit soaps across the water. He appeared on Young and Restless as Colin Atkinson and as Hunter Jones on Bold and Beautiful.
His impressive resume doesn't stop at soap operas, either. Among his other credits include voicing Jake in Walt Disney Pictures' The Rescuers Down Under.
Others he has featured in also include Four Dimensions of Greta in 1972, The Flesh and Blood Show in the same year and Sex Farm from the following year.
Away from acting on-screen, he has also carried out voice-over work. Companies he has featured for include Reebok and Epson, as well as restaurant chain Outback Steakhouse.
His frank talk, much like his character on General Hospital, has left him attached with fans throughout the years. endeared him to them during his decades in daytime
The Australian-born star has been married to Teresa Parkerson since 1995. The duo share a daughter, Sara Jane, 32, and a son, Cale, 29.

Speaking of the weekend, Melanie C said: "What a weekend!" The singer previously said her second ceremony would be "sexy". Now, the Mirror can reveal an exclusive insight into Melanie and Rory's second wedding. It comes after Taylor Swift sparks engagement rumours as fans spot Travis Kelce's lock screen. Mel's stunning wedding dress glistened under the Marrakesh sunshine with red crystals, in collaboration with Evelie and Justin Alexander. The pair tied the knot again at their favourite place, the Selman Hotel. In contrast to her regal white gown in London, Melanie opted for something a little spicier, reflecting on her personal style. Previously, Melanie was guided by wedding dress legend Caroline Black from Evelie Bridal, who proudly helped the chart-mauling musician choose the perfect Josephine Scott dress for their UK ceremony. Meanwhile, she chose American designer, Justin Alexander, to reflect her current life, as she is splitting her time between Leeds and the US, where she is working on America's Got Talent. Evelie Bridal owner Caroline said: "For Mel's Morocco wedding dress, we focused on trying Justin Alexander gowns with a little extra sparkle. Mel loved the idea of a red dress—something bold, with lots and lots of shimmer—but it also had to feel light and easy to move in. "We drew inspiration from a variety of dresses she tried on at Evelie South Kensington, then went back and forth brainstorming with Justin Alexander and his design team. After several conversations and sketches, the first design took shape. Mel gave us clear feedback on what she liked and what she didn't, and the final result was beautiful. Mel had such a strong sense of what she wanted—it was a joy working with her and Justin Alexander to bring her vision to life." Melanie and Caroline worked with Creative Director Justin Warshaw and Chief of Design Terri Hilferty to create the jaw-dropping, sheer gown, which oozed glamour, as well as flares. The silhouette was created entirely with hand-fitted red crystals and bulge beads, offering a mesmerizing floating effect throughout the bodice and skirt. The team was created by six artisans and took a staggering 850 hours to complete. The sweetheart neckline of her dress was filled with red crystal detailing, eventually dispersing across the corset. Elsewhere, the asymmetrical detailing at the waistline added another touch of dimension. In true Mel B fashion, a daring side split revealed a glimpse of her toned legs, with crystal beading scattered down the length of her skirt. Meanwhile, the back featured a lace-up corset and red ribbons, which highlighted her gym-honed physique, before eventually flowing off into a magical cathedral-length train. The musician completed her look with a Moroccan-inspired veil, custom-draped in mocha tulle and accented with red crystals to mirror the dress's embellishments. The warm-toned veil blends seamlessly with the dress, offering a radiant, skin-toned glow. Crystals accent the veil's crown and cascade delicately down the back drape, with additional sparkle scattered throughout the train to finish the look. Melanie's husband, Rory, who previously wore tartan and a kilt at the St Paul's ceremony, opted for UK based designer, Alexander McQueen, and a traditional black tie look. Speaking about the design, Justin Warshaw, CEO and Creative Director of Justin Alexander, said: "We had such an enjoyable time working with Mel. Every meeting felt like a creative burst of energy and laughter, and that spirit is absolutely woven into the dresses we created together. Powys school marks end of year with Eisteddfod winners
A school in Llanfyllin wrapped up the year with a 'brilliant day' as it hosted its annual school eisteddfod. Ysgol Llanfyllin shared the results of a 'fantastic day' in which the school held the popular event before breaking up for the summer holidays. The eisteddfod showcased talents from the school's year 7 and year 8 pupils, recognising Welsh chair winner Noah Biscoe and English chair winner Evan Hopkins. A spokesperson for Ysgol Llanfyllin said: 'A fantastic day was had at our yearly school eisteddfod, and without a doubt, everybody enjoyed watching the various talents of our year 7 and 8 pupils. 'It was lovely to welcome our adjudicators, Carys Jones and Brenda Morris, and we are very grateful to them for giving their time to do so. Thank you also to Eleri Llwyd Jones for adjudicating the Welsh chair competition. 'The winning bards this year were Noah Briscoe, year 8 (Welsh chair) and Evan Hopkins, year 7 (English chair). The Cup in Memory of Sion Jones for the best item in the eisteddfod was awarded to Ariadne Cameron in year 7 for her solo. 'A brilliant day to celebrate the end of term.' The eisteddfod comes at the end of an eventful 12 months for the school. Earlier in the year, they welcomed Oscar-winning cinematographer Lol Crawley, who was a former pupil at Ysgol Llanfyllin, to speak to pupils after he won the Academy Award for best cinematography for The Brutalist. Headteacher Dewi Owen said it was 'truly inspirational for our pupils, staff, and families to hear Lol reflect on his journey from Ysgol Llanfyllin to international acclaim'. More recently, the school celebrated being removed from Estyn Review, marking a significant improvement in the eyes of Estyn inspectors. Headteacher Dewi Owen said he was proud of the school's achievement, saying: 'I'm overjoyed at the recognition from Estyn for all the hard work and dedication from all staff, students, and members of Teulu Ysgol Llanfyllin. 'This is a shared success that reflects our commitment to excellence and improvement.'
