Where We Are Going Today: ‘Avindar Lounge' in Riyadh
The lounge I visited is located on the northeast side of Riyadh and includes a separate section for smokers.
The menu is diverse and appeals to different tastes, so you can sample anything from Middle Eastern kebabs to pasta and burgers.
The lights are dimmed every Tuesday night for a candlelit experience with a pianist playing live music, creating an atmospheric experience for guests.
I tried the mixed appetizer, which was flavorful and memorable. It included hummus, tabouli, dolma, and baba ghanoush.
And while I am generally not a fan of sweet beverages, I genuinely enjoyed their hot chocolate, which was not overwhelmingly sweet or creamy.
However, considering the portion sizes, which are enough for one person, customers might find the prices a bit high.
But the music and bird sounds, paired with the lounge's colorful and cozy interior, make Avindar a refreshing spot for dining or coffee with friends.

King Abdulaziz Airport ranks third in Middle East for air connectivity, says ACI
Saudi Gazette report SHANGHAI — King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah ranked third among Middle Eastern airports in the 2024 Asia-Pacific and Middle East Air Connectivity Index, the Airports Council International (ACI) announced during the Air Connectivity 2025 Conference held in Shanghai. The index evaluates airports based on key metrics including flight frequency, destination diversity, geographic location, market size, economic indicators, quality of air connectivity, airline network integration, and overall traveler experience. Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports Company, said the ranking marks a significant milestone for KAIA, reflecting the airport's growing regional and global role in aviation. He noted that the achievement is the result of sustained efforts to enhance connectivity and expand the airport's global reach in line with the company's strategic vision. Johar reaffirmed the company's commitment to operational excellence and expanding KAIA's role as a global aviation hub. This includes further developing air connectivity routes, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the overall passenger experience in line with Saudi Arabia's ambitions to serve as a strategic center in global air transport.

US State Department: Trump's talks with Gulf leaders will focus on regional security, defense, and investment
Saudi Gazette report RIYADH — US President Donald Trump's talks with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Qatar will focus mainly on regional security, defense, energy, and investment issues, according to US State Department's Regional Spokesperson Sam Werberg. Trump will review with the Gulf leaders the ongoing cooperation to address common challenges. Reports showed that the talks will focus heavily on business deals rather than geopolitics. His tight focus on business deals and investments is expected to boost him with his base back home. Trump is scheduled to arrive in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, May 13, on the first leg of his three-nation Gulf tour, the first ever international tour after assuming presidency in January this year. Trump made an impromptu overnight trip to Italy last month for the funeral of Pope Francis, but the Middle East visit was planned as the first international trip of his second term. The US State Department said that Trump's visit to the region demonstrates the importance America places on its strategic relationships with its partners in the Middle East. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said: 'President Trump will return to re-emphasize his continued vision for a proud, prosperous and successful Middle East where the United States and Middle Eastern nations are in cooperative relationship and where extremism is defeated in place of commerce and cultural exchanges."
