Safe2Tell report involving sexual misconduct leads to arrest
Safe2Tell is a violence intervention program that allows students in Colorado to report safety concerns anonymously.

The AG's Office released its monthly Safe2Tell summary for May on Tuesday. It said concerns involving a staff member who allegedly 'made inappropriate remarks to students and was having sexual relations with them' sparked an investigation. The staff member was placed on leave while the district conducted an internal investigation, which led to the arrest.
A spokesperson for the AG's office told FOX31 that it could not release any other information about the arrest, including in which district the alleged incident occurred, due to the anonymity of Safe2Tell reports.
'Safe2Tell helps ensure that concerns don't go unheard,' said Attorney General Phil Weiser. 'By providing a confidential way to speak up, we are fostering safer schools and empowering students and community members to take action when something feels wrong.'
School officials were alerted that a student was selling vape devices to other students via a Safe2Tell report. The AG's office said that it was confirmed after an investigation and search of the student's belongings, and the school notified their parents and took disciplinary action.
Students and community members are using the program more. There have been 29,619 reports so far during the 2024-2025 school year, surpassing last year's total with two months to go.
There were 2,890 Safe2Tell reports in May, a 9% decrease from April. The top categories were:
School safety concern: staff – 333
Suicide threats – 283
Bullying – 236
Other top reporting themes were:
School safety: 19.5%
Bullying: 15.3%
Mental health concerns: 14.5%
Substance use: 10.4%
Abuse and exploitation: 8.3%
Community safety: 9.5%
Violence: 4.4%
According to the summary, 1187 reports led to parents being notified, 504 led to counseling and 376 led to welfare checks.
So far for the school year, 96.5% of reports were found to be valid, only 2.2% were false reports and 1.3% were misuse reports. Reports can be made any time of any day by calling 1-877-542-7233, texting S2TCO to 738477, or using the Safe2Tell website or app.

26 dogs removed from Chicago Lawn home amid animal cruelty investigation
More than two dozen dogs were removed from a home on Friday in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood, after police responded to a report of animal cruelty. Police said officers were called to a home in the 3300 block of West 65th Place around 4:30 p.m. for a report of animal cruelty, and found multiple dogs in the back yard and garage. At least one of the dogs was injured. Chicago Animal Care and Control officials confirmed 26 dogs were removed from a home. Officials said the situation would place an additional strain on the city's animal shelter, which is already near capacity. In July, the city's animal shelter took in an average of more than 50 cats and dogs per day. "While animals involved in this case will not be immediately available, we have hundreds of other pets currently waiting for loving homes. Adoption fees are waived for the entire month of August, and we encourage the public to visit the shelter. For those unable to adopt, fostering is also a vital way to help, and we work with multiple rescue partners who offer foster programs," a Chicago Animal Care and Control spokesperson said. "We appreciate the public's continued support and compassion for the animals in our care." Area 1 detectives were conducting an investigation into the animal cruelty allegations.

Sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson arrested for incident at Washington airport involving boyfriend
Reigning world champion 100-meter sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested last weekend for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. Richardson was charged Sunday with fourth degree domestic violence, according to the police report obtained by The Associated Press. On Thursday, she ran in the opening round the women's 100 meters at U.S. track and field championships in Eugene, Oregon. She has an automatic bye to the world championships in September in Tokyo as the defending champion. 'USATF is aware of the reports and is not commenting on this matter,' USA Track and Field said in a statement. Richardson's agent did not immediately reply to an email request for comment. The police report said an officer at the airport was notified by a Transportation Security Administration supervisor of a disturbance between the 25-year-old Richardson and her boyfriend, sprinter Christian Coleman. The officer reviewed camera footage and observed Richardson reach out with her left arm and grab Coleman's backpack and yank it away. Richardson then appeared to get in Coleman's way with Coleman trying to step around her. Coleman was shoved into a wall. The report later said that Richardson appeared to throw an item at Coleman, which the TSA indicated may have been headphones. In the police report, the officer said: 'I was told Coleman did not want to participate any further in the investigation and declined to be a victim.' Richardson won the 100 at the 2023 world championships in Budapest and finished with the silver at the Paris Games last summer. Sha'Carri Richardson arrested on domestic violence charge at Seattle airport, police say
Olympic sprinter Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested Sunday on a domestic violence charge at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, according to a police report obtained by CBS News. The incident occurred at a TSA checkpoint where Richardson and a man got into an argument, according to the report detailed by the arresting officer. After viewing security footage, police found that Richardson allegedly pushed the man, and he fell into a nearby column. The video also allegedly showed the man attempting to walk away from Richardson. Richardson also threw a pair of headphones at him, police say. Richardson was booked at the South Correctional Entity in Des Moines, Washington, on Sunday and released on Monday, according to jail records. The man told police Richardson was his girlfriend. He didn't want to pursue charges, police said. CBS News reached out to Richardson's agent. Police said Richardson was scheduled to fly to Eugene, Oregon, which is where the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships are taking place through Sunday. Richardson earned her first Olympic gold medal in 2024 at the Paris Olympics as part of Team USA's 4x100-meter relay team. She also secured a silver medal in the 100 in 2024. At the 2020 Olympic trials, Richardson won the 100 but was later suspended for testing positive for marijuana. At the time, Richardson said she used the substance after learning from a reporter that her biological mom had died.
