Gladiator Sandals Are Back—And They're Taking Over City Streets
If you're looking to shake up your sandal lineup this summer, consider the resurgence of the gladiator sandal. Upgraded from the chunky, caged designs of the early 2000s, current iterations of the iconic Roman-inspired footwear read sleeker, more modern, and are easier to style with a variety of warm-weather ensembles. Just ask our ELLE editors. From a minimalist, thin-strap design by Amanu to a bold, knee-high version from Tom Ford, our editors know the strappy sandal is a mainstay in their warm-weather wardrobes—especially when sneakers aren't cutting it or when we want to take a break from heels. Ahead, we've gathered 12 of the best gladiator sandals our fashion team is reaching for this season. You'll find a variety of designs, whether you're looking for a comfortable pair to wear during your upcoming travels or a style you can count on from day to night. 'I'm a sucker for an olive-suede combination, and this dreamy sandal is my new favorite summer essential. The velvety straps offer a comfortable fit, and the supportive, contoured footbed makes them ideal for a day spent strolling the city.'—Laura Tarafa, commerce writer Sizes: 6-10 Colors: Matcha Materials: Suede 'I require arch support, so sandals can be tricky for me. But I think this grommeted pair from Madewell might be up for the challenge. I love that the style maintains that thong or flip-flop look in front, too.'—Meg Donohue, associate fashion commerce editor Sizes: 5-11 Colors: True Black, Tawny Khaki, Cherry Wood Materials: Leather 'Without fail, black leather sandals have become my go-to choice for this summer. Jenni Kayne's wraparound sandal features ultra-soft leather that'll only get better with more wear. Plus, they go with everything from a more formal dress for a garden wedding to a casual T-shirt and denim shorts for those runs to the market.'—Dale Arden Chong, senior fashion commerce editor Sizes: 36-41 Colors: Black 'I love Raye's minimalist take on the gladiator sandal. They're giving strappy sandals without the 'fighting the Romans at 3 P.M.' vibes that a lot of gladiator styles can lean toward.'—Madison Rexroat, assistant accessories editor Sizes: 5.5-10 Colors: Black, Tan, White Bubble A Veronica Beard customer flawlessly described this luxe ankle-strap style as 'jewelry for your feet!' Pack this earth-toned, gemstone-adorned sandal for your next warm-weather getaway to pair with a flirty backless dress. Sizes: 5-12 Colors: Gold Materials: Stone, Leather 'Zimmermann's Goldie sandals are the ultimate summer staple—fresh off the brand's spring/summer 2025 runway. The chunky straps add intrigue to everything from minidresses to a tank top and jorts, making them the versatile hero piece your warm-weather wardrobe didn't know it needed.'—Claire Stern Milch, digital director Sizes: 35-41 Colors: Brown 'Amanu is one of my go-to brands for summer sandals. What I love about their Serengeti style is that it offers a more modern, minimalist take on a classic gladiator sandal. I also love how thin the straps are from a comfort standpoint, so your legs don't feel too constricted by having straps wrapped around them.'—Carson Stannard, fashion editor Sizes: 6-12 Colors: Camel, Gold 'It's hard to think of the iconic gladiator sandal without thinking of Ancient Greek Sandals—I mean, that just seems like a given, knowing the name of the footwear label. In my humble opinion, the Satira is the perfect option when you want that early-aughts boho look without feeling like you're cosplaying someone from that era. Yes, they definitely fall into the return of the Bohemian aesthetic, but they feel more polished for 2025. I recommend taking these on your next European vacation.'—Dale Arden Chong, senior fashion commerce editor Sizes: 35-42 Colors: 7 options Materials: Leather Amazon customers are raving about this strappy rubber shoe by the outdoor-forward footwear brand Teva, featuring a comfortable flatform sole that cushions the feet. Reviews highlight the sporty sandal's versatility, making it perfect for summer travels. And did we mention a very similar version from the brand is also Olsen twin-approved? A sleek minidress will complement this eye-catching shoe. Sizes: 37-41 A modern take on the toe ring trend, this brown crisscross sandal from the iconic New York line boasts brushed gold-tone hardware that subtly adds interest to a simple suede sandal. Colors: Umber Suede Materials: Suede, Leather Every product featured on is independently researched, tested, or editor-approved. We only recommend products that we stand behind, and the merchandise featured on our site is always driven by editorial and product testing standards, not by affiliate deals or advertising relationships. Any content created in partnership with advertisers is marked as such. 'For a sleek take on the gladiator style with a dash of gilded toe jewelry, Tory Burch's suede sandals are a go-to. The slight platform makes them a bit more comfortable than regular flat sandals, and the suede straps are a bit more forgiving than stiff leather.'—Madison Rexroat, assistant accessories editor Colors: Black, Silver

How to Recreate ‘Milk Nails,' Summer's Chicest Minimalist Trend
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Anyone well versed in the endless array of summer nail trends doing the rounds right now will know all about juicy Korean jelly nails, the new high-shine aura manicure, and colorful cat-eye fingertips. But if you favor a softer aesthetic, the trend to have on your radar this summer is 'milk nails.' Destined for those who favor manicure minimalism, milk nails are the epitome of a classic 'quiet luxury' mani—milky or cream whites with a sheer or translucent finish—and have been filtering onto Instagram feeds this summer as a welcome respite from the loud neon and colorful French tips that have been circulating online. 'A much softer version of a white manicure, the milk nail manicure is a minimalist nail trend achieved by applying a semi-sheer white or pale nude polish to paint a more subtle wash of color to mimic a soft and creamy 'milky' appearance,' says Ami Streets, a session manicurist for Kure Bazaar. Milk nails tap into growing demand for 'quiet luxury' manicures; effectively, your-nails-but-better trends that center upon glossy finishes and nude bases. 'This look has become popular because it looks super chic on any nail length. The neutral color looks clean and polished, and works perfectly as an understated shade that complements any skin tone and ensemble—it's a great effortless but elevated look,' shares Streets. There are a number of different variations on the trend taking shape too. 'The classic milky white is the most iconic, but for a modern twist, chrome or shimmer finishes can be layered over the milky base to create a glazed or pearl-like effect (this looks gorgeous as an update to a French manicure with a milky base and glazed tip),' notes Streets. You can also add 3-D accents for a more maximalist take on the trend, or add depth using an aura finish. First, choose your shape—almond, square, or round. Next, choose between polish, gel, or BIAB. 'To emulate the milk nail manicure at home with regular polish, I'd recommend Essie's Marshmallow or OPI's Funny Bunny (one of the classic go-to colors for this look and popular with celebrities), as they have a beautiful high-shine finish,' shares Streets. You can also custom build your milky base. 'If you already have a favorite sheer nude or soft pink tone polish, you can always custom mix a milky base using a drop of pure white polish and adjust the opacity by applying either one or more layers for your perfect finish,' she notes. Finally, the key to nailing this manicure lies in the high-shine finish, so add a final glossy top coat.

The best and worst looks celebrities wore during Paris Couture Week
Brands like Balenciaga and Schiaparelli hosted runway shows, and celebrities like Lauren Snchez Bezos, Katy Perry, and Kim Kardashian were in attendance. That said, some wore better outfits than others. Here's a look at the best and worst style moments of the fashion event. Katy Perry's Balenciaga look left something to be desired. She arrived in a blazer-style minidress, which had long sleeves and an off-the-shoulder neckline with a deep, V-shaped the dress itself had potential, it wasn't accessorized right. Perry wore no jewelry, carried no purse, and her hair was slicked back with only a single strand loose across her face. The French brand designed her strapless, black velvet gown. Across its neckline, gold fringe accentuated its high make the fashion moment even more dramatic, Cardi B briefly held a crow in her hand while posing on the venue's steps. Kim Kardashian had a Barbie moment in pink. After walking the Balenciaga runway as a model, Kardashian left the fashion show in a hot-pink included pink tights that covered her pumps and a form-fitting halter gown with a plunging neckline. She also sported black sunglasses. Lisa Rinna's bright ensemble didn't have the same fun effect. For the Balenciaga show, she wore an oversize jacket and baggy pants made from nylon-style fabric in a vibrant blue shade. She seemingly wore the jacket with nothing the color worked for her, the outfit's shape overpowered the TV star. Angela Bassett kept things simple but elegant. She posed ahead of the Stphane Rolland runway show in a flowing brown dress that was asymmetrical from top to bottom. It had a single sleeve on one side and a strap on the other, as well as layered ruffles of different complemented the dress perfectly with statement heels and a crystal-covered bracelet. Patrick Schwarzenegger, however, could have benefited from accessories. The actor wore a gray T-shirt and black trousers beneath a leather duster. Though the look was sleek and simple, it was also a bit lackluster for a couture event.A sparkling brooch or a flashier chain would have improved the outfit.
