On the Podcast: Hailey Bieber's Summer 2025 Cover Story—and the Best Films at Cannes So Far

Vogue20-05-2025
It's been six years since Hailey Bieber last appeared one the cover of Vogue, and let's just say that a lot has changed. Now, the founder and face of Rhode, one of the most talked-about celebrity skincare brands out there, is also a mom to nine-month-old Jack Blues.
On this episode of The Run-Through, marking Bieber's Summer 2025 cover story, writer Alessandra Codinha sits down with Chloe Malle and deputy editor Taylor Antrim. They revisit Codinha's time with Bieber, during which they discussed everything from the intense scrutiny she faces online to her relationship with her husband, Justin, and her difficult birthing experience.
But first: British Vogue's Radhika Seth reports live from the Cannes Film Festival. She recaps her favorite films so far—and the buzzy ones she's most looking forward to. (As Taylor notes, 'deranged mothers' seem to be trending this movie season, with Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson's Die, My Love making headlines after its festival premiere.) Radhika also weighs in on the controversy swirling around Eddington, Ari Aster's much-hyped follow-up to Beau Is Afraid (spoiler alert: it didn't make her top picks).
Tune in to the conversation—which includes their highlights from Cannes's all-important red carpet—up above.

What, to Black people, is the Fourth of July?

Her rendition is both negro spiritual and national anthem. It beckons the promises made that have yet to be fulfilled. It stirs a proud and courageous claim of citizenship that reminds us of our privilege and duty to make American liberty true. We lift her in her healing. Domestic violence is deadly. And this case has proven how we talk about violence, especially violence against women, is in itself violent. In America, boys and men are not taught to like girls and women. They are trained to attain them. So often, when we are on the receiving end of a man's rage, the suspicion is on us instead of the abuser. Even with a video of her abuse and witnesses who had also been abused or seen the abuse, domestic violence failed to become the issue it should have been. There are places in our mind where past abuse is always present. May Cassie persevere and continue to walk in love and cultivate her joy. "Pretty Little Baby" Singer Connie Francis Hospitalized

Originally appeared on E! Online Connie Francis is on the mend. The 'Pretty Little Baby' singer, whose 1962 track has recently gone viral on TikTok, is currently recovering in the hospital following intense pain. 'I am pleased to advise that following a series of tests and examinations in Intensive Care [Unit], I have now been transferred to a private room,' Connie, 87, shared on Facebook July 2. 'Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words and prayers. They mean so much!' The singer's latest update comes hours after she announced her withdrawal from Bruce 'Cousin Brucie' Marrow's two-hour 4th of July special on 77 WABC station due to her health. 'I am back in the hospital where I have been undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain I have been experiencing,' she wrote in a separate post. 'I had hoped to take part in Brucie's show for Independence Day, having had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago when receiving treatment on my hip.' More from E! Following Connie's hip surgery, which was due to a fracture on the right side of her pelvis, she had been reliant on her wheelchair for longer than she had expected. Despite retiring from the music industry in 2018, Connie's song—which she recorded at age 24—had entered Billboard's Global 20 and Spotify's Daily Top Songs USA in May over six decades after she first sang it. And it even caught the attention of stars like Kylie Jenner, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift, who were among those who joined in on the lip-sync trend. 'I am flabbergasted and excited about the huge buzz my 1962 recording of 'Pretty Little Baby' is making all over the world,' she said in a June 6 TikTok video. 'To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is captivating new generations of audiences is truly overwhelming for me.' Although she is grateful for the love, Connie—who became the first woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 'Everybody's Somebody's Fool' in 1960—admitted that she hadn't even thought about those flowers or bluebirds in years. 'To tell you the truth, I didn't even remember the song! I had to listen to it to remember,' she explained to People in May. 'To see that they're paying homage to me is just breathtaking.' Katy Perry's Dating History — Who Has Katy Perry Dated?

Katy Perry is single following her breakup with professional elf actor Orlando Bloom, so now seems like as good a time as any to brush off her dating history. Which, honestly? Is absolutely stacked with famous people—including some complete randoms (Diplo) who we fully forgot about. Katy and late actor Johnny Lewis dated for about a year in the early aughts. It was before Katy was ultra-ultra famous so their relationship wasn't extensively reported on! Katy and the Gym Class Heroes frontman dated for less than a year, and apparently Katy broke things off via email. At least according to Travie, who said, "It started off with 'I love you so much I hate to do that you are ready to spend the rest of your life with sends you a fucking email just shitting on your whole parade. It destroyed me." These two had a brief fling in 2009, and it made enough of an impression that Katy wrote "The One That Got Away" about Josh. He was asked about inspiring the song by Andy Cohen, and replied "We did [date]. We were both very private, and so we realized we were better as friends. And we've been very, very good friends to this day. She's the best. But, I was not expecting that. That was a double take and a spit out my coffee when I saw that." Katy and Russell met at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, married in 2010, and then divorced 14 months later. Katy opened up about their split to Vogue, saying "At first when I met him, he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong men do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, I can't handle the equalness. He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour. So that was really hurtful, and it was very controlling, which was upsetting. Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011." Russell has since been charged with rape and sexual assault in the UK, which he has denied. Katy seems to have briefly dated the Florence and the Machine guitarist? By which I mean E! News reported that they were seen holding hands at Coachella, where Katy reportedly referred to him as her "boyfriend." Their relationship was extremely on-again off-again, but it all started over dinner at Chateau Marmont in August 2012. Then it briefly ended in April 2013, when a source told E! News "John still very much loves [Katy] and has feelings for her. It was just going to be too much with what was on his plate." They were back together by June, there were engagement rumors by November, and they were officially done in February 2014. John's since confirmed that his song "Still Feel Like Your Man" is about Katy, telling the New York Times, "Who else would I be thinking about? And by the way, it's a testament to the fact that I have not dated a lot of people in the last five, six years. That was my only relationship. So it's like, give me this, people." Katy and Diplo were linked in April 2014, when they showed up at Coachella together. The relationship didn't last, and Katy ranked Diplo third on her list of ex-lovers (after John Mayer and Orlando Bloom). He responded by tweeting "I don't even remember having sex." As we know from Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet's makeout session, the Golden Globes is one of the horniest events in Hollywood. And it's where Katy and Orlando hit it off! They started dating mere weeks after the above photo was taken, and were going strong for almost a year before breaking things off in February of 2017. Their rep even released a statement to People, saying, "Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time." Meanwhile, Katy tweeted this: The pair were back together by 2018, and even went "Visit to the Pope Official": They then got engaged in 2019, and welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove a couple years later in 2020! Katy and Orlando then spent five years chilling in Montecito together, but everything changed in 2025 and they ended up parting ways. TBD on what went wrong, but according to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, Orlando wasn't here for Katy's brief trip to space. "He told her the whole thing looked ridiculous," the insider said. "He said it was cringeworthy. Embarrassing. This was in the middle of a fight, and it hurt her feelings. Of course she was hurt. Imagine going to space—motherfucking space—and your partner isn't impressed. She hoped he'd be more supportive." That brings us up to date, but stay tuned...
