Street Fighter Movie Casts Pro Wrestling Champion as E. Honda
According to Fightful's Sean Ross Sapp, New Japan Pro-Wrestling legend Hirooki Goto has joined the film to play the iconic E. Honda. Goto began his wrestling career back in 2003, and over the course of his career has held over 10 championships with the company, including its top championships various times.
In the world of Street Fighter, E. Honda is a mainstay. The character was one of the original eight playable characters in Street Fighter II, and has been in the games ever since. The character was also represented in the 1994 live-action film, where he was played by Peter 'Navy' Tuiasosopo.
Goto is yet another wrestler set to appear in the movie. Previously, it was reported that WWE star Cody Rhodes will play Guile in the movie, and Akuma is also rumored to be played by none other than Joe Anoa'i, aka Roman Reigns.
The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter movie features a star-studded group, including Andrew Koji as Ryu, Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Noah Centineo as Ken, Jason Momoa as Blanka, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Orville Peck as Vega, Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki, and Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson as Balrog.
Production on the film is expected to begin in Australia this coming August. Plot details remain under wraps at this time. Legendary Entertainment is co-developing and co-producing the project alongside Capcom.
A release date for the Street Fighter movie has not yet been set.

The report said that switches controlling the fuel flow to the jet's engines had transitioned from "run" to "cutoff", hampering the thrust of the plane. On the London market, AstraZeneca (AZN.L) was one of the biggest risers on the FTSE 100 (^FTSE) on Monday morning, with shares up 1.8%. ‘Jaws' star Richard Dreyfuss, 77, reveals grim diagnosis as he drops out of SharkCon: ‘I'm in a lot of pain'
Richard Dreyfuss is too sick to attend SharkCon this year. The 'Jaws' actor, 77, gave a grim update on his health in a clip from SharkCon's Instagram page shared over the weekend. 'Hello fellow cons,' Dreyfuss said from a hospital bed with a 'Jaws' blanket covering him. 'I am very, very sorry to tell you that I've been diagnosed with, viral, er…What is it?' 'Bronchitis,' Dreyfuss' wife, Svetlana Erokhin, answered off-screen. Bronchitis occurs when the airways leading to the lungs get inflamed and fill with mucus, according to Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms include shortness of breath, fever, runny nose and fatigue. Dreyfuss continued: 'I've been told by my doctors I cannot fly and I would have to fly five hours to get there. I'm terribly sorry because I had planned to be there and I had been looking forward to it, but I am unable to do so.' 'I don't want to get anyone else sick,' the actor added, 'and I don't want to get sicker myself.' 'I feel terrible about not showing up and I feel worse about exposing you to this apparently very viral illness,' Dreyfuss went on. 'But there will be other times and I will make it my business to show up.' The Hollywood icon gave his best wishes to fans attending SharkCon in Tampa, Florida this weekend, before adding with a laugh, 'I want you all to feel very sorry for me, and very sorry for yourselves.' Look up 'suspense' in the dictionary, and there should be a little sketch of Alfred Hitchcock's silhouette next to it. He never won an Oscar — the academy finally gave him an honorary one in 1968 — but the British director is inarguably one of cinema's most influential auteurs, the kind of filmmaker even a casual movie watcher has heard of. Even if you don't know his movies, chances are you can recognize the shower scene from 'Psycho,' or have seen a spoof of his work on 'The Simpsons.' My own introduction to Hitchcock came at the tender age of 3 or 4: In 'Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird,' a plane flies over Big Bird in a cornfield to get his attention — a homage to a famous scene from 'North By Northwest.' Hitchcock's work is marked by carefully framed images and a fondness for playing with our emotions, but his greatest talent was making us freak out, and showing other filmmakers how to do that, too.
