With Lee Jong Suk and Moon Ga Young front and centre, fans are watching a delicate blend of legal drama and subtle romance unfold in each new episode.
What is Law and the City about?
Set amid Seoul's Seocho Judicial Town, Law and the City spotlights five young associate attorneys who juggle complex court cases and personal dilemmas. At the centre is Ahn Ju Hyeong (Lee Jong Suk), whose sharp logic drives his success but also isolates him emotionally. Kang Hee Ji (Moon Ga Young) challenges that detachment with her idealistic approach and deep empathy. Along with Jo Chang Won, Bae Moon Jeong, and Ha Sang Ki, each character brings a unique perspective on justice, ambition, and friendship in a high-pressure law firm environment.
Law and the City recap through Episode 7
Episode 7 of the tvN drama revisited Ju Hyeong and Hee Ji's past in Hong Kong, exploring the origins of their unspoken connection and subtle romantic chemistry. The team tackled a voice‑phishing case, while Moon Jeong finally shared her pregnancy news with her husband. Sang Ki faced family pressure and increasing anxiety, but the group's bond remained strong. Their camaraderie and personal growth provided emotional counterbalance to courtroom tension.
At a reunion, Ju Hyeong overheard rumours about his past relationship involving Hee Ji, leading to embarrassment—but also an emotional confession on the bus home. All the while, Chang Won fought for a scam victim in court, showing his passion for defending the powerless.
What to expect from in Law and the City Episode 8
Episode 8 deepens key storylines stirred up in previous episodes. Ju Hyeong may cross professional boundaries by choosing to handle Hee Ji's father's legal case, directly challenging his rule against working with those close to him.
The team will probably face another gripping case, this time tied to Hee Ji's family situation, bubbling with moral ambiguity and interpersonal complexity. Meanwhile, the group dynamic continues to evolve: Sang Ki may grow closer to Ryu Jin, Moon Jeong's emotional journey unfolds, and Chang Won likely takes center stage again in the courtroom drama.

The Block's 1,000th episode premieres tonight; meet the five teams competing in Daylesford

Australia's favourite renovation show is back, and this time, it's bringing bold personalities and new stakes to Daylesford, Victoria. Now in its 21st season, it is also the 1,000th episode of The Block. The Block 2025 premieres tonight, Sunday, July 27, on Channel 9 and 9Now, introducing five dynamic teams competing to turn five identical houses into standout dream homes. Each team comes with their own unique story, from best mates-turned-rookies to police officers juggling parenthood, and a couple who applied seven times before finally making the cut. When and where to watch Premieres : Sunday, July 27 Live Events Date and Time : Sunday, July 27 at 7:00 PM AEST (Australian Eastern Standard Time) Where : Channel 9 and 9Now (on demand) This year, the competition puts all five teams on a more even footing, with identical houses to renovate and brand-new rules aimed at promoting collaboration over conflict. But the personal stories behind the contestants are what truly set this season apart. Sonny and Alicia (Gold Coast, QLD) – The Family-First Tradie Team Sonny, a seasoned plumber, and Alicia, a former dental practice manager, are leaving their three children behind to chase their Block dream. The couple were nearly cast last year and say this opportunity is not just for themselves, but for their kids. Alicia puts it plainly: 'They're our reason for being here.' The pair bring modest reno experience but a strong team dynamic rooted in mutual respect. Robby and Mat (Adelaide, SA) – The Hairdresser Duo with Zero Reno Skills Best friends and business owners Robby and Mat are trading scissors for sledgehammers. With no renovation experience between them, they hope their business smarts and chemistry will carry them through. 'I'd sooner believe my house would burn down than end up on The Block,' Mat joked. The pair hope to break stereotypes and charm viewers with their unique friendship — 'a hairdresser and a barber, gay and straight.' Han and Can (Perth, WA) – Young Love Meets Big Pressure Han, a geologist, and Can, a marketing creative, met online just over a year ago and are now testing their relationship under the ultimate renovation stress. With family support and design ambition, they aim to bring a thoughtful and modern edge to their build. 'The Block made us stronger,' Can said, crediting their shared resilience for getting through the toughest moments. Britt and Taz (Newman, WA) – Police Officers From the Outback Married cops from remote Western Australia, Britt and Taz are juggling parenting and policing duties while tackling The Block's freezing conditions in Daylesford — a big change from their usual 40-degree summers. Taz, who is Aboriginal, sees their appearance as a chance to inspire Indigenous kids. They're keen DIYers but admit the scale of The Block is a leap: 'We've never done anything this big,' said Britt. Em and Ben (Melbourne, VIC) – The Experienced Locals After seven applications, Em and Ben finally made it. The Melbourne couple bring the most renovation experience to the show, having already flipped and built multiple homes. Em is a dance teacher and businesswoman, while Ben is an engineer and aspiring firefighter. They're hoping their polished teamwork and 'mid-century with a Daylesford twist' design will give them the winning edge.

Google's Gemini creates crochet-style visuals based on user prompts

Months after OpenAI's viral Ghibli-style image trend, Google's Gemini chatbot has rolled out a new creative feature that generates crochet-style visuals from user prompts. In a post on X, Google shared colourful AI-generated images reimagining Indian cities in crochet form, created using Gemini's image generation capabilities. ET verified the functionality, which can generate diverse visuals from crochet-style rooms and cars to reimagined Bollywood posters and scenes based solely on text prompts. However, Gemini does not allow users to recreate personal images in crochet format, a safeguard to prevent misuse for deepfakes or identity fraud. YouTube Shorts gets Gemini-fied In a parallel update, Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced the rollout of Gemini's photo-to-video generation tool to YouTube Shorts and Google Photos starting July 23. The feature, powered by Veo 2 — Google's second-generation video generation model released in December 2024 — allows users to remix their photos into videos, comics, sketches, and 3D animations. See announcement It is currently available in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with a broader rollout expected later this year. The tool is free to use. Meanwhile, Gemini's adoption continues to grow. ET recently reported that the AI application crossed 450 million monthly active users, with daily usage rising over 50% quarter-on-quarter. The momentum follows Google's decision to offer Indian college students aged 18 and above free access to its premium Google AI Pro plan worth Rs 19,500 annually until September 15, 2025.
