Disaster proclamation for Harrison County residents to assist with blizzard recovery
Thursday, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation for Harrison County in response to the March 19 blizzard. Reynolds issued a disaster proclamation on March 20 for five counties that included Harrison County. That disaster proclamation allowed for state resources to be used by counties to respond to and recover from the blizzard.
The new disaster proclamation activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and the Disaster Case Advocacy Program for just in Harrison County. It goes into effect immediately and expires on April 26.
Through the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program, households with incomes up to 200% of the federal poverty level can received grants of up to $7,000. The grants can be used for home or car repairs, replacing personal property or food, and temporary housing expenses. The original receipts are required for reimbursement. Residents have 45 days to apply and can learn more and apply here.

The Disaster Case Advocacy Program helps households recover from disasters by providing support through a disaster case advocate. The advocates will work with households by helping create a disaster recovery plan and also serve as a primary point of contact for setting up services and resources for disaster recovery. The program closes after 180 days, and there is no income eligibility requirement. Storms return to central Indiana as weekend winds down
Over the last few hours, the radar has started to pick up in storm coverage across the state. Temperatures have been sitting in the lower 90's with a heat index in the mid-90s.
