Grim warning for Australia's east coast
A low pressure system is set to bring wet and wild weather across Australia's east coast this week.
The powerful system is expected to develop near the New South Wales coast by Tuesday and bring consistent rain across Sydney and Newcastle, according to the Bureau of Meteorology.
Along the state's east coast between 50 and 150mm or rain is likely within a 48 hour period.
Strong winds are also expected from the system and are set to batter eastern New South Wales and southeast Queensland.
Northern Queensland and parts of the Northern Territory are also set for an unseasonable band of rainfall throughout Sunday, before the weather moves further south.
Chilly temperatures are expected throughout the country this week.
Brisbane should expect should up to 30mm of rainfall on Monday before a clear rest of the week.
Lows of 11 degrees are expected midweek, with highs of up to 22 degrees.
Sydney is set to see morning fog, with rainfall throughout the week — triple digit rainfall could pour down on Tuesday.
The temperature will dip as low as 8 degrees, with a cloudy 19 degrees the maximum.
Canberra will see negative temperatures on every day except Wednesday, with intermittent rain and cloudy weather throughout the week.
Melbourne is expected to see scattered showers throughout the week and temperatures as low as 5 degrees.
A top of 15 degrees on Saturday is the warmest the Victorian capital will see this week.
Hobart will have a chilly week with lows of 2 degrees on Monday and Tuesday, before it warms up slightly later in the week.
Adelaide is expected to have a mostly cloudy week, with one sunny day on Tuesday. Scattered showers are expected on Friday and Saturday.
Perth has a cold front incoming, and rainfall is expected throughout the week.
Temperatures in the western capital are warmer than its eastern counterparts, with lows of 9 degrees and highs of 22 degrees in the week ahead.
Darwin will experience sunny and clear weather, average for the season.
Temperatures will hover between 18 and 30 degrees for the week.
While the winter temperatures have been chilling Australia across the season, the Bureau of Meteorology's long-range winter forecast suggests day and night temperatures are likely to be above average across Australia for this time of the year.
There is also an unseasonal increased risk of fire across parts of South Australia and Victoria.

Pittsburgh in for a calm, but humid weather day on Sunday
We finally get a break from the rain and storms today. You'd think we'd also get a break from humidity and heat as well but that isn't going to be the case. First off, if you're reading this before 10 a.m., there is likely some fairly dense fog out there in spots, with the fog being denser to the north of Pittsburgh, where skies were clear all night. Places south of I-70 probably won't see too much fog due to cloudy skies not allowing sufficient cooling. The other issue is the potential for high ozone levels making their way to the surface. There is a chance for strong storms as a warm front lifts through late Monday into Tuesday, but this storm chance happens right at midnight. Most storm activity should come on Tuesday. Similar to what we have seen over the past couple of days, strong winds and flooding due to downpours are the main concern. Tuesday is when relief really arrives as a cold front sweeps through, taking the excess moisture with it. All the parts of England set for 37C heatwave arriving within weeks
Parts of England could swelter in temperatures up to 37C in a matter of weeks as the heat cranks up a notch. Weather maps from WX Charts show the mercury hitting the mid to high 30s on Sunday, July 13. While the East Midlands, East of England, London, South East and South West are under 'amber' alerts, which predicts that significant impacts on the same services will be "likely" - see the latest alert for the region here. Meanwhile, the Met Office has predicted "plenty of fine weather" to arrive in July, with southern areas more likely to hang on to "drier, brighter and warmer conditions". In its long range forecast from July 3 to July 12, the Met Office said: "There is a chance of heavy, thundery rain affecting parts of England and Wales at first, but otherwise turning widely cooler and fresher with sunshine and just a few showers. "Generally speaking, high pressure is more likely to dominate through the first part of July, bringing plenty of fine weather, particularly across southern areas of the UK. "Into the second week of the month, a gradual transition to rather more changeable conditions is forecast to take place, especially further to the northwest. When will it start to cool down in MS? Farmers' Almanac gives fall weather forecast
We're in the dog days of summer with temperatures topping 100 in some parts of Mississippi. Ready for colder weather? You've got a while to wait before temperatures really start to cool down into what the South calls fall. Be ready for more heat, followed by storms and rain as we edge closer to winter. The Farmers' Almanac calls for some wet weather and some storms later in the season, but early autumn looks dry and warm. According to the Farmer's Almanac, fall will start on Sept. 22 with the autumnal, or vernal, equinox. Meteorological autumn, however, uses Sept. 1 as the start of the season. Either way, we won't get a big break from the warmer temperatures until around October, when the daily high finally drops to around 77°F and the lows are around 53°F, per historic data from According to the "Flirty, Flurry Fall" forecast, the South can expect lingering warmth while northern states could get early cold fronts. The Southeast could see Labor Day weekend thunderstorms, and the Atlantic seaboard could face a hurricane threat in September. The Southeast should have nice weather in October, but a lot of the country could face storms in the middle of the month. The region is expected to have some rain in November, and the Thanksgiving forecast calls for most places to have clearer skies for the holiday.
