Ranchi: A total of three Pakistani nationals, all of them children, have been found living in the Doranda area of the city even as the search for persons asked to leave the country continues.
The children aged 8, 7 and 1.5 years came to visit their paternal grandparent's house in Ranchi for summer vacation. Their maternal grandfather, Irfan Khan, said his three daughters are married to Pakistani nationals in Karachi and their children have come to visit his place. Khand added that he had applied for a visa extension for the children but received no reply.
While confirming that the three children from Pakistan were in Ranchi,
DGP Anurag Gupta
said, "We will take measures for implementation Union govt's order in this regard."
The DGP said he has asked the special branch inspector general to coordinate with the foreigners' regional registration office (FRRO) in Kolkata to find out other Pakistan nationals in the state.
There were also reports regarding one Pakistani national in Hindpiri area of the city but the officials could not confirm it.
So far, seven Pakistanis with long-term visas have also been identified but they are exempted from the union govt's order. Terming the issue as sensitive, a senior police officer said meetings would be organised soon to discuss on the presence of Pakistanis in the state and steps to be taken against them.

Body of Pakistani National Handed Over At LoC In Rare Cross-Border Humanitarian Move

In a rare humanitarian move across the Line of Control (LoC), Indian authorities on Saturday repatriated the body of a Pakistani national to officials from Pakistan at the Teetwal Crossing Point in north Kashmir's Karnah sector. The body was handed over at 6:00 PM under strict security and full administrative oversight. The deceased had initially remained unidentified after being recovered on July 20 from the banks of the Kishanganga River near Government Higher Secondary School, Keran. After conducting the necessary legal formalities under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), the body was buried by the local Auqaf Committee, as no claimants had come forward. Later in July, Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) formally communicated that the deceased was a Pakistani citizen and requested its return. In response, the District Magistrate of Kupwara ordered the exhumation of the body under Section 196 of the BNSS to facilitate identity verification and dignified handover. The repatriation process was jointly supervised by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Karnah Zaffar Ahmad Lone, Tehsildar Karnah Mohammad Amin Bhat, and the Station House Officers of both Keran and Karnah police stations. Medical personnel and local magistrates were also present to ensure proper legal and humanitarian procedures were strictly followed. The body was transported from Keran to Teetwal and respectfully handed over to Pakistani authorities at the LoC in what officials described as a rare act of cross-border compassion. The operation was carried out through coordinated military communication between both sides, demonstrating a shared commitment to dignity in death even amidst tense geopolitical relations. Official statements from the Ministry of External Affairs and Pakistan's Foreign Office are still awaited as the handover draws wider regional and diplomatic attention.

Deported after Pahalgam attack, Pakistani woman to get visitor's visa: MHA tells J&K HC

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh High Court that it has decided to grant a visitor's visa to Rakshanda Rashid, a Pakistani woman who was deported from Jammu after the Pahalgam terror attack, prompting the court to dismiss her petition seeking nod to return to her family here. The court, however, stated that the MHA order should not constitute a precedent in any manner. Rashid (62), a Pakistani citizen who married Sheikh Zahoor Ahmed 35 years ago in Jammu, was deported as part of the decision taken by the Indian government to deport Pakistani nationals staying in India in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the home ministry, informed the court that after considerable deliberation and in light of the peculiar circumstances of this case, an in-principle decision had been made to grant a visitor visa to Rashid. The division bench comprising Chief Justice Arun Palli and Justice Rajnesh Oswal acknowledged this in its order. The bench further noted that Rashid can pursue the two applications moved by her regarding acquiring Indian citizenship as well as a long-term visa. The court recorded the submission of the solicitor general and noted that "once an in-principle decision is taken by the competent authority, there is hardly any doubt that, post compliance of the requisite procedures and formalities, the authority would process and accord a visitor's visa to the respondent at the earliest". The court dismissed Rashid's writ petition seeking relief from the deportation, saying that as a natural consequence, the impugned interim order loses its relevance and thus ceases to exist and operate. On July 22, Mehta requested the court to defer the proceedings to enable him to explore whether the respondent could be helped in any manner or if it was still feasible to address her concerns. In response, Rashid's counsel, Ankur Sharma and Himani Khajuria, submitted that she was agreeable to the course suggested by the solicitor general. On June 6, a single-judge bench of Justice Rahul Bharti ordered the Central government to "retrieve" Rashid. While passing the order, Justice Bharti observed, 'This court is bearing in mind the background reference that the petitioner was having long-term visa (LTV) status at the relevant point of time, which per se may not have warranted her deportation, but without examining her case in a better perspective and coming up with a proper order with respect to her deportation from the authorities concerned, she came to be forced out.' Rashid was served with a Leave India Notice on April 28 under Sections 3(1), 7(1), and 2(c) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 1946, issued by the Criminal Investigation Department, directing her to leave the country by or before April 29. She approached the high court and sought interim relief to stay the operation of the order. However, she was issued an exit permit and escorted to the Attari-Wagah border in Amritsar by the authorities, from where she crossed over to Pakistan. Rashid, a resident of Jammu's Talab Khatikan area, has four children who continue to reside in Jammu and Kashmir. Rashid, daughter of Mohammad Rashid from Namuddin Road in Islamabad, entered India on February 10, 1990, via Attari on a 14-day visitor visa to visit Jammu. She continued to stay under an LTV granted by the authorities on an annual basis. During her stay, she revealed that she married an Indian national. "It wasn't disputed either that her LTV was valid up to January 13, 2025, and she had applied for an extension on January 4, 2025. But no such extension was ever accorded," the order noted. Her husband expressed happiness over the decision and thanked the court. 'We are relieved... The entire family was under tension. We were suffering due to the decision (to deport her),' he said.

'Only We Are Saying It': MS Aiyar Says No Evidence On Pakistan's Role In Pahalgam, BJP Furious

Last Updated: Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar claimed that India had not been able to present any evidence that Pakistan was responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22. Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar stoked a major row on Saturday by questioning whether Pakistan was indeed behind the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, saying that there was no evidence of it, and none of the 33 countries that were visited by all-party delegations from India had blamed Pakistan for the incident. Speaking to IANS, Aiyar said, 'None of the 33 countries that (Congress leader Shashi) Tharoor and his team visited blamed Pakistan for the Pahalgam terror attack. Neither the UN nor the United States have held Pakistan responsible. We are the only ones saying that Pakistan is behind it, but no one is willing to believe us." We are the only ones saying that Pakistan is behind it,… — IANS (@ians_india) August 2, 2025 'We haven't been able to present any evidence that convinces people about which Pakistani agency carried out this act," he added. The BJP reacted furiously over Aiyar for aligning with Pakistani propaganda. 'Maybe the grand old Congress party does not know that the monitoring panel of the United Nations Security Council has raised concerns over the role of the TRF, which is an offshoot of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in the attack," said BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla. 'Maybe Congress does not know that the birth of terrorism took place in Pakistan, be it LeT or JeM, whose camps we destroyed in Operation Sindoor. It's unfortunate that Congress is defending Pakistan and demeaning our armed forces," he added. 'Congress party and its leaders continue to be top cheerleaders for Pakistan and find their true calling in peddling anti-India and pro-Pakistan propaganda. Indeed shameful," said another BJP spokesperson, CR Kesavan. 'India Could Not Defeat Pakistan' These controversial remarks came after Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal made headlines by claiming that India could not defeat Pakistan in Operation Sindoor, which is why the government had to stop the water. During a discussion with Gaurav Gogoi, Sanjay Raut and Sagarika Ghose, Sibal said the defence systems of India and Pakistan were at par and that India was not in a situation to continue the war. The BJP slammed Sibal's remarks, calling them 'Pakistani B team INDI alliance!" Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had recently told both Houses of the Parliament that India struck nine terror sites in Pakistan as part of Operation Sindoor and neutralised more than 100 terrorists. He affirmed that Pakistan's DGMO called his Indian counterpart, after which the Centre decided to pause the conflict. Shah also informed the House that all three terrorists involved in the April 22 Pahalgam attack were eliminated in a joint operation by the Army, CRPF, and Jammu and Kashmir Police near Srinagar on Monday under Operation Mahadev.
