In a Facebook post, the police team said the section of road was "notorious" and had seen "hundreds of collisions over the years".The post said: "Heavy rainfall after hot weather is the most dangerous time and we take this seriously to prevent loss of life."Steven Carter, a councillor for Melton Borough Council, said seeing vehicles in the ditch alongside the A6006 carriageway was a common sight in Shoby. "I used to go down that road every day to work and I used to see a car in there, or a van - I've even seen a lorry in there - every other day," he said. The independent councillor added: "I don't think there's enough signage there to be honest. "It's a sharp bend. Someone's going to end up getting killed there."A county council spokesperson said: "There are a number of permanent warning signs in place in Shoby – including vehicle activated signs, chevron boards, bend warning signs and slippery road signs - and we're assessing these following the concerns."Heavy rainfall after dry spells can affect all road surfaces and we'd always encourage motorists to adapt their driving to the conditions."

A BUSY UK motorway which is used by 130,000 drivers a day has been closed for the entire weekend, causing chaos for airport and port travellers. Motorists heading for Belfast City Airport or the port have been told to add extra time for their journeys as one of the city's main roads has been shut. 2 Friday saw the closure of the eastbound carriageway of the M3 Lagan Bridge from Nelson Street on-slip to Dee Street. It is due to re-open at 6am on Monday. The closure is one of two weekend's worth of disruption on the road, which is undergoing a £400,000 maintenance scheme to replace bridge bearings. The westbound carriageway, from Bridge End to the M2 Foreshore, will be closed to traffic from 9pm on August 15 until 6am on August 18. Northern Ireland 's Department for Infrastructure (DfI) warned delays were 'inevitable' but added the works had been planned to minimise disruption. Traffic heading eastwards on the M3 over the Lagan Bridge will be affected by the current closure. The road will be closed between the M2 and Dee Street, with traffic being diverted off at the Nelson Street off-slip. There will also be no access to the bridge from Nelson Street on-slip. Two lanes were shut eastbound between Junction 2 for Wolverhampton and Junction 1 for Featherstone following a serious collision. Emergency services were called to the incident at around 2pm on Friday, where four people are thought to have been injured. A female passenger and male driver in one of the cars were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Woolwich, where they are being treated for serious injuries. A child and lorry driver were also taken to hospital for minor injuries. While at the end of last month, the M6 northbound in Warwickshire was closed between J3A for Coleshill and J4 for the M42, after a lorry caught on fire. 2

King Charles has put Queen Elizabeth II 's luxury helicopter on the market - with the monarch set to cash in £5million. The King is selling his mother's eight-seater red 2009 Sikorsky and will instead use two environmentally friendly jets, believed to cost £8.5m each. The royal family have used the new AgustaWestland AW139s, which run on 50 per cent sustainable aviation fuel, since last year, having flown in the previous helicopter for the previous 15 years. The opulent interior of the late Queen's helicopter has been revealed for the first time after it was put on sale. Spacious grey leather seats are matched with a blue carpet, while a magazine rack, a wooden clock and tinted windows complete the design. The listing, by helicopter broker AeroAsset, boasts that it has only had 'one owner since new' and is a 'Head of State Aircraft'. It has had 5222 hours of flying and comes with 'ultraleather and ultrasuede interior panel upholstery,' it adds. The Queen made innumerable trips in her helicopter, including one from Sandringham to Windsor a few months before she died. Her personal Range Rover, which she used between 2006 and 2008, is also up for auction. The 2006 L322 model features a distinctive ornament of a labrador with a grouse in its mouth. It also has a number of unique features including side steps, mud flaps, a made-to-measure dog guard for Elizabeth II's canine companions and extra wiring for security measures. Millions of drivers may be due compensation for hidden commission payments in car finance schemes. Money expert Martin Lewis advises patience, suggesting an automatic redress scheme could be implemented by the Financial Conduct Authority by the end of the year. The Supreme Court recently ruled that car finance lenders are only liable for hidden commission payments in the most "unfair" cases. While the Supreme Court allowed appeals from two lenders, it upheld one driver's claim, finding his case unfair and awarding him compensation.
